Now our 4 th stop on our VIP tour brought us here. This is what I imagined a speakeasy was. Classy, darkened lights, luxurious seating. Why was it special? You need to dial a special code in the Red Phone Booth to enter. One of the employees shared the 3 most recommended drinks. Initial Reaction: The Red Phone Booth in Nashville is not the only location, as I discovered. There are actually multiple throughout the country, including one in Brickell, Miami, in South Florida. But if you aren't familiar, the Red Phone Booth is a cool spot to check out, so long as you sign up for their mailing list to access the correct code. For a spot promoted as a speakeasy with a hidden entrance (through a British-style phone booth), which it is, it serves more as an exclusive cigar lounge than anything else. If you're not into cigar smoking or don't care for cigar smoke, then you may not fully appreciate the experience. For me, who doesn't mind a good smoke, the smoke didn't bother me, as the experience was solid. The only bummer was that the phone wasn't actually working when I went into the phone booth. There was a sign that specified to call with your cell phone, which I did. From there, we were invited in. No, no trap doors if that is where you think I was going. The lounge has a central bar area, with multiple seating areas, including one towards the front of the location, and a more narrow area in the back with an elevated seating area with couches, accessed by a couple of steps. They do offer food, but we had already eaten, so we focused on cocktails. The cocktails were pretty good at our table in the back. The Last Word was the standout, but I also had other cocktails that ranged from boozy to fruity. It was a cool spot to check out, and glad to knock this one off my list. read more

I love this place. The drink menu is extensive and creative. If for some reason you can't find something on the menu, the excellent bartender will make something from scratch based on your preferences. I wish I knew the bartender's name as she was incredible and worth the trip to sit at the bar and watch her work the room and guests. Go to their website to get the door code which you dial into an old-fashioned rotary phone (Google it if you have no idea what a rotary phone is. I'm sure there's a video available). It rang and rang and rang and no one picked up. We called back, same thing. We tried this for over ten minutes. Other people showed up and tried as well. Same thing. That jazzy speakeasy I was looking for ... I was transported back home in Chicago with Sinatra's smooth iconic voice slipping down into the leather seats, a cigar lounge stoically standing upright in the backdrop, with the room so dimly lit, it feels like moonlight. This place is well known, but the catch is, you have to find out what the phone number is to get in. Enter into the Red Phone Booth and use the rotary phone with the correct number and then a secret door opens. Pretty cool! We found the phone number on Reddit, but you can ask locals or surrounding hotels for the number and they will know. It is a cigar lounge/1920's inspired eatery. We went early enough to avoid the . For a cigar bar, you don't notice the smell of any smoke for those who don't want to walk out of the place smelling like you just hung out with Don Draper. I love visiting a good speakeasy when traveling but Red phone booth missed the mark in my opinion. While visiting Nashville, my family and I went to this speakeasy before a night out. I loved the concept of dialing the secret number in the old school red phone booth to open the door. There was a long line outside the booth though so I'm not sure how much of a secret this speakeasy is. When we got inside, I thought the vibes inside were warm and elegant. Our waitress that took the order was sweet and I ordered an old fashioned, the Ramos fizz, and the steak sliders. The flavor of the steak in the sandwich was good but the piece barely filled half the bun in each slider. Also once we got our drinks, I was disappointed that we never saw our waitress the rest of the night. I thought the Ramos fizz tasted like warm dirty water which I hoped to switch out. We had to flag another waitress to switch the drink out and then another for our bill at the end of the night. We really like the vibe of this place. It's super cool and I would definitely recommend hitting it up if you're in town. I loved that it was a classy joint and collars were required for the gentlemen, and if they didn't have one, they were given a sport coat to wear. I'm a big fan of dressing up so I loved this rule. Our drinks were fabulous, the Old Fashioned was super smokey and awesome! Our server was really great and took great care of us. The only downside--for us--was that we didn't know it was also a cigar lounge, so the smoke caught us off guard. It was pretty thick when we first got there but we were seated at a table in the front of the bar so it wasn't too bad and we got used to it. Walking to the bathrooms though I had to hold my breath because the smoke was really thick. Overall it was a win and the cocktails are definitely worth stopping in for! Forget Broadway; come here instead. I discovered this great little speakeasy while exploring things to see and do while visiting Nashville, my hometown. Armed with the secret phone number given to us by our hotel, we used the rotary dial phone inside the red phone booth to dial the number and open a hidden door behind the booth for entry. Cool! The friendly doorman led us to a little table in a back room, where we ordered two Smoked Old Fashioned drinks with top shelf whisky. We moved to a gorgeous dark brown leather sofa to sit, sip and talk, then we ordered another round. There is a humidor room for cigars here, although we did not smoke any. This is such a cool, chill, relaxing high-end place. The service is excellent; the drinks are on point; and they play classic rock here, too. They also serve small plates of food. We will definitely return on our next trip to Nashville. Pro tip: Bring your ID. You will be carded. Even if you're 80. read more

We didn't stay long once we got in we realized it was more fancy than what we had originally intended. We just liked the adventure of trying to get in and finding the password. This hidden speakeasy is a must stop in Nashville. It was very hidden, it's a if you know you know. We heard you have to call to get the code. But we got in with pure luck, we took the wrong password down so we snuck in with a couple before us. The dress code requires men to have jackets and to be dressed up. I loved that. This is a smoke is allowed venue so if the smell affects you, it's not for you. There were people enjoying cigars and many seats for privacy and to have little gatherings. We sat at the bar and had the best time, they do offer NA drinks which one of our party members appreciated and said was pretty great. I've been here now a few times and I always make sure to visit this little speakeasy anytime I am in Nashville. It's always fun to go into the red fun move and plug in the phone number and the back of the phone booth opens up into this amazing bar . The bartender that we had was named Cash, and he was great with his personality, cigar, suggestions, and talent in making drinks. Not only were the drinks good but it was quite an art form to watch. I am already had dinner so I didn't eat this time but I remember the last time I was here. I had a great pizza. If you don't like having any smoke around you, when you eat this probably won't be your best spot, but if it doesn't bother you, then you will enjoy the food, the ambience, and the entertainment. We wanted to go here but I was a little worried it would be pretentious. We went on a Tuesday night and were able to get in and sit at the bar. The bartender was great and welcoming. She gave us the encyclopedia like menu and gave us some suggestions. I prefer whiskey drinks so I went with a mint Julip to start followed by the smoked old fashioned. The mint Julip was good but mint over powered the bourbon. I would not get it again. The smoked old fashioned was great to watch her make. Not the normal smoke gun approach but instead lit hickory chips are out right on top of the glass. The rim was warm and I had to let it cool to drink. They also had an extensive whiskey menu. Lots of high end hard to find options. If you don't want to read the menu, you can describe what you like (spirit, sweetness, allergies) and I am sure they can make you a drink. If you are looking for basic drinks or fun shots, not the place to go. They have no flavored liquors. read more

They do have a dress code; do read up on that prior to arriving here.  You are supposed to get a code from your hotel. Once you arrive at the location, there's no signage outside, just a red phone booth. You dial the code, and they let you in.  The ambiance inside was pretty cool; it is dimly lit, but that is expected at a speakeasy. We sat at the bar, and the staff and the bartender were very attentive. The menu has tons of cocktail options. We ordered a sazerac and a rum slip. The drinks were pretty good.  Smoking is allowed inside; you'll likely find folks smoking cigars. Something to be aware of if you are sensitive to smoke smells. Cigar heaven with a speakeasy flair. Loved this impromptu visit while visiting a friend in Nashville. My favorite stick is The Romeo y Julieta. We were doing a bit of bar/club/hangout hopping with some out of town friends to celebrate a Birthday and this was our last stop of the night. Pretty sure our friend just emailed the business directly for the "secret" code. It is pretty cool to enter through a phone booth into what turns out to be a really great, big, space with great atmosphere. I knew that if we were going to go here I'd bring along my own cigar--I've had a humidor for years, though these days I probably have less than 2 a month. But I've made my way through most of Nashville's cigar bars without ever realizing this was one as well. I warned one of our friends this was indeed a cigar bar as she has an outsized (negative) attitude towards the smell of cigars but she wanted to try this space. I also let her know I'd have a cigar if we were here, lol. So seated on nice leather couches, with spacious ceilings and a view of the walk in humidor, we were waited on by a friendly staff member. We each ordered drinks and I lit up a cigar--seated diagonally oppositional to our friend who loathes cigar smoke, as far away from her as possible and blowing smoke intentionally away as well. And--the air filtration system here may be the absolute best I've ever witnessed. Smoke didn't even drift to my partner seated directly by me--it dissapeared up into the air and poof. Same for all the folks scattered around or walking by with their own stogies. You could of course smell the lingering aroma of past smoked cigars (noted by our friend upon entrance), but not hanging smoke, no watery eyes, really stellar. If you like the smell of cigars (or coffee, scotch, and all the other fine things) but not the actual presence of smoke, this is the place for you. Smells like a club or library from the past, cozy and comfortable. The speakeasy vibe works in a classy, not cliche or silly, way. When we ordered drinks, we were told they were out of several. Another friend and I both ordered the Absinthe drip, but they said the drip wasn't working so I kept the order but in a ready to serve glass. Thought they'd at least do the presentation with water or something to show the mix as I most often encounter absinthe, but no. Everyone said their drink may have been the strongest they'd ever had in a club, I'd say that's pretty close. I appreciated the selection of brandy drinks (something I rarely see on menus) but didn't have room for a 2nd. Prices are a bit steep, but not egregiously so. I'd say the biggest things that keep this from a "5" for me are--well, last call. We were here on a Saturday night. This is a speakeasy. Last call in Nashville is 3 am. However, they close at 1 am so last call was 12:30, immediately when they served us our first drink. C'mon--a speakeasy in this location should at least be open until 2 am. And, they were just out of so many basic menu items that it seems like should have been better stocked. All in all though, a "great" (4 stars in my book) experience and I hope to come back. read more

Horrible place and services. I was in town celebrating my Birthday and excited to go to this speakeasy. The phone was not working to enter the place. Had made reservation but was told by manager that my guest and I not on the list. So when he was questions and showed the emails received he was like oh. He was very unprofessional and short with like just wait here. Dress code was not enforced because there was other guess with tennis shoes on and very casual dress. Never received the cocktail or and written information about membership. Limited selection of cigars. Very disappointed and will not recommend this location. read more
