Pretty mixed. The enfrijolada I wouldn't get again. It had a strong lemony flavor, especially from the veggies, and it took over everything. I wanted to taste the poblano, ricotta, and mole, but the acidity was too much. Guac was really good. The small slices of jalapeño gave it a nice kick. Chips were way too salty though. Esquites were just okay. I usually like a little sweetness, but these leaned more savory, not really my thing. Queso fundido wasn't for me either. The pickled chiles didn't work, I think onions and tomatoes would've been better. Machete was the best part. Huge portion, really good, and I added corn which made it even better.

ATX Cocina has one of the best happy hours in Austin in terms of food quality! The HH menu is small but curated well! Happy hour is from 5-6pm Monday through Thursday and it gets busy! I started with a strong house margarita and followed it up with a lychee martini (not on the HH menu) The martini was really pretty but tasted more like a strawberry lemonade. Tacos de Pescado and Tacos Alambre were delicious!! I also ordered Hamachi (not on the HH menu) which was the best hamachi I've ever had, seriously! The flavors were tangy, sweet and paired perfectly. I enjoyed the Tacos de Pescado just as much as the hamachi the pickled cabbage was the surprising star of the plate! Our server (Taylor?) was very sweet. She explained the menu well and made great recommendations. Parking is very tricky in the area so I took rideshare! There's a parking garage across the street though.

It's actually kind of insane that this place has a 4.2 at the time of writing this review. I literally just ate at a Michelin star restaurant in ATX two days ago. This place is better. Flat out. The food is unreal. The hamachi crudo is the best raw seafood dish I've had in any kind of short-term or long-term memory. The carne asada has a masterful balance of just enough smoky flavor and spice. As someone who's been cooking Mexican cuisine for decades, it's very difficult to properly assess how balanced those chiles will turn out. The pork chop was also unreal. We ate every bit off the bone. We live in NYC and eat nothing but great meals. This place is a standout for us in ATX. Can't wait to come back here when we are back in Austin.

This place was amazing! Highly recommend reservations (that fill up quickly might I add)! Our server, Jordan, was knowledgeable, friendly, on-point and the service is overall awesome among the entire staff. The food was so flavorful and delicious- we ate until we were stuffed! The Caesar salad is huge; 2-3 people can easily share this. The sopes were our favorite appetizer, and the queso fundido is like none I've ever had (those homemade, fresh corn tortillas that come with it are to die for!). The drinks were fabulous (ATX margarita and Paloma are house favorites) and we shared a Patron flight (highly recommend). My husband had the carne asada (perfection) and I had the crab rellano (mind-blowing good!!). Jordan spaced out our meal perfectly throughout the evening! The atmosphere was perfectly decorated and the music was a total chill vibe. Don't expect to walk out of here without a hefty bill at the end, but totally worth the splurge!!

Had Mother's Day lunch with my son at ATX Cocina. It has a modern high energy vibe. The service was very slow. We had to wait forever to get drinks. Then we were ready to order, which again took forever. She took my order and walked off without even asking my son. We waited for about 15 minutes after we asked for our check. She seemed to be way more attentive to the larger groups around us. I'm usually a very generous tipper...she could have made just as much as the table of four next to us. It seemed as if she wasn't that interested in a table with only two guests. The food was decent but a bit overpriced for the quality. I asked for no peppers in the guacamole, and it ended up being smashed avocado. I've never had quac that didn't have onion, tomato or cilantro. I had the crab tostados. There was a good portion of crab but not much flavor. My son had the chilaquiles. The meat was very flavorful, but the chips on top seemed kind of odd, couldn't really get to the good stuff without moving them. Usually they are on the bottom. I wouldn't dine there again.

Fura time trying their brunch and it didn't disappoint. Great value. I had the burrito. Only thing I disliked is the fact that the pieces of bacon are thick and not crispy. Hubby had the flautas. Will have that next time

ATX Cocina -- where your taste buds go to party, and your eardrums tag along whether they like it or not. Let's start with the food, because... wow. We kicked things off with the beets and avocado crema, and from the very first bite, the flavors didn't just pop -- they performed. Earthy, creamy, with a playful little heat at the end -- it was like a flavor parade with a spicy grand finale. The beets were diced on the smaller side, which made them a bit tricky to catch with a fork, but not enough to slow down the enjoyment. Honestly, they could serve this dish as a starter or a main event, and no one would complain. Next came the machete, and true to its name, it cut straight to the flavor. The masa had this perfect crunch, bursting with that toasted corn essence, while the chicken and veggies tucked inside brought the whole thing together in perfect harmony. It's one of those dishes where you take a bite and instantly know -- this is what the chef meant to do. Then came the enfrijolada, and let me just say -- ricotta and mole shouldn't work together. But somehow, ATX Cocina makes it sing. It's the kind of bold move that separates the culinary dreamers from the recipe followers. The creamy ricotta smooths out the richness of the mole, and the result is just... spectacular. The restaurant itself is modern and stylish, buzzing with energy -- and I mean buzzing. It's lively inside, maybe a touch too lively, to the point where my inner voice had to raise its volume a few notches. But outside? There's a beautiful patio shaded by a big, majestic tree, and the whole vibe shifts. It's peaceful, warm, and exactly where you want to sit with a cocktail while replaying every flavor from your meal. If Yelp allowed half-stars, this would be a confident 4.5. But since they don't, we'll call it four -- only because of the decibel level and those bite-sized beets. Bottom line: ATX Cocina delivers flavor fireworks with flair and finesse. Come hungry, stay for the patio, and let your taste buds do the talking -- you won't hear yourself anyway.

Another excellent restaurant with delicious food and great options for people with different dietary restrictions. Huge shoutout to Gilberto! He took care of my group and was so accommodating with everyone's needs! Huge portions and flavorful food! Brussel sprouts were a hit with my group! I got the crab relleno and it was so good! A lot of crab meat and the sauce was sweet and spicy! Paired so well with the relleno! The virgin pina colada was so good I ordered two! Highly recommend for those who do not consume alcohol! I will come here again next time I visit Austin!

Everything was so salty ! Queso fundido was super salty not edible. Crab relleno was actually good . Spicy and tasty .

We really enjoyed the Easter specials at ATX. We didn't make a reservation but we went right at 11 and got seats at the bar. The dishes we had were so good - I'm not sure if they are typical brunch specials or just for Easter. The restaurant is very open and bright and the servers are really nice. We would definitely come back for another meal!

Omg! Amazing! Everything! All gluten free The guac, the sopes, the machete, the papas, the arroz verde and the queso fundido. Def make reservations. Great ambiance! Loved all of it!

She noticed I was ordering dairy items on side and asked about if pesto in guacamole was ok. So astute and kind of her. Also on my friends second drink remembered she didn't want salt or her rim without even asking - Everything tasted so fresh and high quality - Brisket tacos: packed with flavor--maybe it was the wagyu meat or the black magic oil. Freshly made corn tortillas were awesome. Usually corn ones and pretty throwaway meh, but these added to the greatness of the tacos. 5 stars - Duck flautas: crispy covered in mild mole. Loved the mashed potato addition inside for some mellowness and texture. 5 stars - Guacamole: so fresh and that dollop of pesto on top was lovely. Served with crispy masa dippers were impressive almost a 8x11 page size. It was fun to crack off into pieces, but hard to stop eating it. 5 stars - Sweet potato: friend loved these long charred wedges. 4.5 stars - Cocktails were stellar. I got the Don Dario which was a play on a marg and delightful - $12 of a few drinks during lucky hour (Mon-Fri 5-6pm, Sat-Sun 3-5pm) - High energy vibes in a clean, open, tan colored space - Had their bottle water on the table in a champagne bottle which speaks to my heart Midlights: - In East Austin so have to Uber if you are staying more central - Tacos come in orders of 4. I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything. It's just incredible flavor explosion bite after bite. If I had to guess, I'd say the food has been made with love, skill, and attention to detail all these years. Hence, their amazing reputation.
