Title: Periodontist CT Billing Scam - Beware I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience to help others avoid being taken advantage of. I had a severe infection around a dental implant. My dentist prescribed antibiotics and suggested that if things didn't improve, I should see a periodontist for possible implant removal and gum/bone treatment. I went to see Dr. Thalida Dong in Spring, TX. The Technician took an intraoral periapical x-ray. After reviewing it, and examining my mouth. She then recommended a CT scan to see the deeper gum and bone area--adding that insurance usually doesn't cover CT scans. I initially declined, but in pain and desperate for answers, I agreed and paid $375 out-of-pocket. After reviewing the scan, Dr. Dong said my implant "looked good," even wiggled it, stating it was not loose, and noted some gum and bone loss. She offered no real treatment--just said the crown should be replaced and that I should see a regular dentist. Three days later, my implant became loose. I called the office, requested my CT scan, and while waiting overheard another patient being sent for a CT scan. I later spoke to the patient outside--she was also charged $375 for the scan plus $50 for the consultation, despite having Delta Dental PPO. Dr. Dong had told her the exact same thing about insurance not covering it. After researching, I discovered they used code D0381 for my CT scan--a code insurance often denies--instead of using a billable code D0365, which is typically covered once per year under my plan. In addition my consultation was 100% covered in-network, yet Dr. Dong still billed Delta Dental $70 for it. In my opinion, this looks like a deliberate CT scan billing scheme to collect cash instead of using insurance benefits. I would not trust a person who runs a dishonest practice to work on my mouth. read more

My implant procedure Is a little more complicated then some people's, so therefore I have had quite a few visits! I am getting so excited about my upcoming grand finale visit. I can't remember a business in my lifetime as fabulous as this one. From the first call to working with the staff, the billing manager, the dentist who makes special visits to insure your dentures are perfect and most of all Dr Dong. I ask a lot of questions and some of the same ones two to three times. The patience everyone has had with me is incredible! I am so fortunate to have chosen this company to handle my dental needs. Along with my above post I want to express the concern this office has with the Covid-19 virus. There are no chances being taken. All precautions are taken to ensure the patient and staff's health. 1st visit yesterday for periodontal specialist. Found under Careington Dental Discount Plan as part of looking to cut down on years of high dollar dental care elsewhere. Felt welcome by support staff Nadia, Brenda right away as well as Dental Assistant Jennifer, Very happy with first impression of Dr. Dong. Dr. took the initial time to ask me for a summary of what I needed, and what I was looking for. She asked clarifying questions, so I felt like she understood my needs and we were on the same page. I had already checked her background so hoped her technical skill measured up, and listening to her approach and diagnosis I got the impression she was careful and conservative in her surgical technique, which is what I was looking for. This is the first time using Careington Plan for a specialist so big question was pricing. Sat with Kai (sp?) who was very transparent with pricing (pet peeve of mine with medical providers is fogginess about pricing and surprises). Definitely a savings under Careington over who I'd been seeing, and combined with comfort level I felt with Dr. Dong's approach I decided to cancel appointment to see next candidate and start the work. Surgery confirmed my guess about Dr.'s technical skill. Dr. communicated well with assistant Jennifer and me during surgery, explaining what stage she was at, conditions, and getting patient feedback to make sure I was in comfortable position. Surgery went well. Dr. gave clear post-op explanation concerning next steps and asked if I had any questions. Overall, very satisfied with this first experience. Oh, BTW, this was all on the afternoon before Thanksgiving! Now that's what I call caring about your patient, and I am thankful! Cash payment was exactly as Kai (sp?) specified. Hopefully follow ups go just as smoothly. Based on first visit I definitely feel comfortable recommending Dr. Dong for periodontal work to you, friends, and to my general dentist. Hope the doctor has great success with her new practice and always maintains high standards of customer service I experienced on my first visit. read more

I visited Auburn Lakes a couple months back for a check up about my jaw hurting and they informed me my wisdom teeth was the reason on the pain, I was skeptical of the price but they really work with you I scheduled the appointment to have them extracted and the process went great the doctor really knows what's she's doing and has great communication with you during the procedure. Everyone is very friendly and I would recommend This place to any one. My wife also had a procedure done here they found she had a lesion in coming from her previous taken our wisdom teeth from another location and they where quick and painless. We both find this place to be of great value and I'm looking forward to removing the rest of my wisdom teeth with them.
