Went in the other day and had stuffed cabbage from the daily specials menu. 2 huge stuffed cabbage with a great great salad for 16 bucks! This was a really good find. It was an early lunch, but they seated our large party quickly. The waitress was super sweet and friendly. Everyone in our party commented about how fresh everything was. West to Auburn Grille on our way home from the seacoast. I have always seen this restaurant from the highway so we thought we would give it a try. I will say the outside looks like it needs lots of sprucing up. That is the first impression for new diners and it really takes nothing to get a little paint and landscape a bit. I should have stopped on that first impression. When you walk in you are looking at the bar. People at the bar turn around and see who's standing there, but no one came over. The bartender didn't even acknowledge someone coming in. So we stood there for a bit looking stupid until finally a waitress came over and said 2? We were seated in an extremely dated room. Very uncomfortable. The waitress came over and asked about drinks. I asked for a Cosmo. She also took our order. The Cosmo came in a very small martini glass. I took one sip and it tasted like Cranberry juice. I put the drink to the side and was going to ask the waitress for a different drink. Except...she never came back and she was never in the room we were sitting. Apparently, they have 2 waitresses that take care of both the bar area and dining room. By the time the waitress came with our meals, I was so disgusted I asked her to just get me a Coke. I ordered the Chicken Kabob with rice and salad. They put the salad with dressing on the same plate as the kabob and rice, so everything was dripping with dressing. I asked for no Feta on my salad but yet the dressing still tasted like Feta. The chicken was pretty undercooked for a kabob. Rice was nothing special. My husband got the turkey dinner which came with chunks of turkey instead of slices. Also stuffing and potatoes that looked like they were from the day before, green beans that he said tasted extremely weird and cranberry. NO GRAVY... He had to ask for gravy and by then his meal was cold. Not a very good experience on all counts, service, food and ambiance. We will not be returning. read more

Once again, just after mountain biking, we need a place to replenish our lost calories. Traditional, clean, mid-range pub style ambiance inside with umbrella-shaded tables on a decent-sized deck outside. We were greeted warmly by staff and an elderly gentleman (owner?), after we found the entrance, since the deck entrance was locked. Alissa was our server and she was very quick with a smile and to make sure we had everything we needed. Decent beer menu. Food menu had a decidedly Greek influence which was different from the previous time we were here, suggesting perhaps a change of ownership (or that I wasn't paying attention the previous time). Two of us got burgers and one a salad. As you may recall from previous reviews, I am a big fan of onion rings, and specifically asked Alissa if they were good here. She said "yes!" very enthusiastically, and I took her word for it. Sadly it didn't turn out to be true, they looked very pale as though they hadn't spent enough time in the fryer and as a consequence (or in addition, it's hard to say), the batter seemed too thick. I got the Tavern Heat burger, and found it decent enough, though I couldn't really taste the spicy aioli. One of my buddies had the Triple B with sweet potato fries, and though he said they were good, they looked more like strings rather than fries. So to wrap up, it wasn't bad, and we will probably go there again, because it's close to where we bike, they have beer (LOL), and the prices were reasonable. But I'm not sure I would recommend them to customers looking for an exceptional local eating establishment. read more

We have gone there in the past and the service was slow and you have to ask for things........like silverware or a menu So we went back yesterday for a drink and some wings. Service again was terrible. We sat at the bar and it was minimal of people sitting there and the restaurant wasn't busy either. I wanted to love this place since it's casual, has good entertainment and what seems to be a fun crowd, plus outdoor dining when weather permits. Unfortunately, the food was just OK, and the volume (with singer/guitarist inside) made it impossible to converse over dinner. The restaurant owner is a lovely Greek man named John, and he's serious about his food, and friendly to/known by his customers. We started with delicious grape leaves app. No complaints. For dinner, Hubby got a bbq mixed grill. Loved the "fall off the bones" ribs, but the sausage was dry and the chicken was like shoe leather - not edible. I ordered the king cut prime rib medium rare. What came out the first time was probably 2 lbs of meat, but an end cut that had no pink whatsoever. The waitress shouldn't have brought it out, so obvious this would get sent back. The replacement slab of meat was also huge, I'd guess way more than the 25oz they tout on the menu. It was cooked properly to my liking, but was just ok. Texture was terrific, but meat wasn't particularly flavorful. Brocolli was raw. Yes, could have sent back but why bother at this point? Drinks and service were excellent, prices reasonable. Not sure which was worse: the food or the service. Both were terrible. I will not return. We could barely get our server to bring silverware or napkins, and she just seemed annoyed when we asked. I've never disliked a pasta dish.. but the Greek pasta was just gross. Watery, overcooked, salty. Absolute waste of money. read more

First and foremost you have to enjoy the atmosphere and the food is really good. It's certainly easy to get to off of the 101.

So many great menu options I have a hard time deciding from all my favorites!!! My absolute favorite surf and turf is a special. I order it every time they have it. Best surf and turf I've ever had. Amazingly tasty! The Auburn Tavern is one of my favorite destinations. We go at least once a week. So many choices. Seafood, burgers, steak kabobs, chicken kabobs, spinach pie, Prime rib, shrimp scampi. Yum. Yum. Highly recommend stopping in. read more

We love supporting a local business, but it was very sub-par experience. Our wait for food was so long, and tasted bland. The parking lot was packed but it was mostly the bar. The decor is straight out of Hobby Lobby. The waitresses, when attentive, were friendly. Was disappointed and not sure we'll give it a second chance. It has so much potential though! read more

Terrible food. There were 3 tables full on a Saturday night with a packed bar. I ordered a shaved prime rib sandwich with cheddar cheese and my wife a burger medium. The burger was overcooked the waitress noticed and offered to fix it but my wife didn't want to wait. My "sandwich" came on a sub roll with barely any cheese so I know it came from a bag and it was definitely microwaved because after it sat on the table for 15 minutes it was still letting off steam and the bun was soaked. The waitress noticed I didn't like it and offered something else and I refused. After talking with the manager they offered us a dessert and took nothing off we said we were all set. My husband & I decided to stop in here Wednesday evening for dinner. The parking lot was well packed, so I commented to the hubs that the place must be amazing if it's this crowded, right? Well... When walking in the front door, there is a bar with a high top table dining area to the left, and a regular dining area off to the right in another section of the building. The bar was hopping. Most of the patrons there were in that area. The host asked if we had a seating preference and we chose the regular dining room. The host was personable & polite. Our server was prompt & pleasant. My husband had a draft beer and I had an angry orchard. Both we super cold, so no complaints there. We looked over the menu and decided on the chicken parmesan. It came with a side salad and choice of three dressings: Caesar, House or Ranch. We were told by the server the house dressing was very good so, we went with that. The salads were good size & the greens appeared fresh. There were a few crumbles of feta at the bottom. The house dressing was mostly oil and fairly tasteless. Meanwhile, the place was stifling hot. Not sure if the heat was stuck on or if it was from the kitchen, but it was very uncomfortable. When the main course arrived it looked ok, except a tad light on the sauce. The Mr & I love a good amount of sauce, so we asked for extra and it was brought very quickly. The extra sauce tasted completely different from, the sauce used in the dish. It was then that we also discovered the melted cheese was sour & tangy tasting rather than buttery & smooth like mozzarella. The side of garlic bread was a dinner roll that appeared to have had the sides dipped in butter and garlic powder. Neither of us ate much of our meal. Also, by now we were also overheated and feeling as we were being consumed by the fires of Hell. We packed it up and left. There were very few diners in the area we were in, so it would appear this place is more popular as a watering hole than as an actual restaurant. Had a great dinner. I ordered the Greek combo (stuffed pepper, stuffed cabbage and spanakopita). It came with a Greek salad as well. The meal was fantastic, best spanakopita I've had other than in Greece. My husband got the steak tips which were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. His came with 2 sides, the Cesar salad was really nice and fresh as was mine. Definitely recommend coming here. We'll be back. read more

I was pretty excited that the old holidays location opened back up as the auburn tavern, it's right next to the mountain bike trails we ride and what's better than a beer and burger after a ride. Im not one to complain and this is thr first time i felt compelled to write a review. The waitstaff was very nice but right off the bat I ordered a Kelsen Brown off their menu and was brought an IPA, apparently they changed the kegs and the bartender didn't know the difference between a brown and and IPA. I didn't say anything because I'll drink and good beer but the menu didn't say seasonal it said brown. Then our food came out very fast. That's because they didn't cook the burger. We ordered medium but mine was medium rare and cold in the middle. My girlfriends was just raw. The fries were just standard frozen crap. We complained and the waitress removed our beers neither of us ate our burgers or fries. She didn't tell anyone other than the bartender which I'd how I found our he didn't know the difference between beers. I will not be back. read more

So to start of , I understand it's COVID and it's effecting many business. My friends and I decided to try this place it was local and it seemed nice. We got there plenty tables were open , we got seated right away. At first our waitress was really friendly and helpful and told us it was a bit understaffed. We sat down she brought out menus and specials .. it took about 30 min to put in our drink orders. So after we gout our drinks she came around after a while and asked what we wanted she was really inpatient and wasn't helpful at all. We ordered our food.. it took about 45 min to get it , but we waited we understood it was a bit busy . When we got our food it was absolute mess.. it was cold, bald no flavor. We were stunned .. I had a burger with fries .. the waitress asked how I'd like it cooked I did well done , my burger ended up being medium. My friends onion right were cold. It was like they just pulled it out of the fridge and put it on our plate. My other friend got the chicken pasta dish. It was the worst decision he mad. The food had no taste no flavor it was watery and tasted like it came out of a can. So after all that our waitress got mad because we wanted to split our bill 4 ways. Was making comments under her breath. And getting other customers involved. Very unprofessional. Disappointed at this place never coming back, they should probably hire more people and hire people that enjoy doing that job. read more

Would have give more stars if the "manager John" didn't yell and use profanity at his staff. Loud enough for several tables and patrons at the bar to hear. We decided to try the Auburn Tavern out while out riding our motorcycles with friends. It was very. Ice inside and our waitress was great. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't as impressed with the food. The broccoli and chicken Alfredo was extremely bland and watery, my husbands burger was over cooked. Our girlfriends pulled pork sandwich was just okay, she said and her husbands turkey dinner was okay but dry ( thank goodness for Extra gravely) Overall nice location, nice servers and just okay food. We will definitely go back and sit on the deck and get drinks next summer and re-try because I hate to judge them solely on one Saturday afternoon meal. read more

I would give this restaurant zero stars but it's not a possible selection. Me and my husband went to Auburn Tavern for dinner and it was the worst dining experience of our lives. We should have known when we had to wade through a crowd of smoking wait staff to get into the restaurant. They were the most unprofessional and rude staff that I've ever encountered. They were running around the restaurant snapping each other with bar towels. The kitchen staff then joined in. When our food finally came it was inedible. My husband ordered the lamb and it tasted like it had been left in a crock pot for 4 days. He said it was disgusting. I order the pork chops and they were so overcooked and hard my steak knife could barely slice them. I tried to eat one bite and couldn't even chew them. I was told the vegetable was summer squash and zucchini and I received green beans that were so over cooked they were grey. There was only 2 other couples in the restaurant and I now know why. You'd have to be crazy to eat at Auburn Tavern and I tell everyone not to go there. read more

I have been to Auburn Tavern a handful of times now and always have a great experience. They truly have the BEST espresso martini I have ever had. I have gone with friends and my boyfriend and I are becoming regulars there because the food and drinks are so great. I have ordered something different every time and have always been pleased. Portions are excellent, prices are fair and you can't beat the atmosphere in the bar area. We always seem to get lucky striking up conversation with other friendly patrons. There is a waitress there who is AWESOME - Crystal. She remembered us the second time we went and every time since then, we always hope to get her when we go and purposely try to sit in her section! We were there last night and four separate staff members said goodbye to us and told us to have a good night. We will definitely be back! And thanks Crystal!!! read more

Good take out but terrible dining in service. I went there on a Monday at 4pm There were 4 wait staff members around and no more than 4 tables occupied. We got our drinks right away but after looking at the menu we waited 20 minute to order. During that time we saw our waitress on her phone texting and snacking behind the counter. We finally decided to leave after our waitress walked right past out table into another room without stopping at our table to grab our order even though we were clearly looking at her eager to order. read more

I frequently go to Tower Hill for a walk or run and have always seen the Tavern's parking lot packed. We decided to give it a try. The salad consisted of mostly iceberg lettuce when the menu said "crisp romaine." It was watery and so disappointing. The tomatoes were sad and the shrimp wasn't fresh. My boyfriends burger was well done on the outside, medium on the inside. Clearly they cooked it too quickly. The bun was tasty though! He wants me to add that their onion rings got NOTHIN on Clam Haven. The water was good. The service mediocre. read more
