Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. I don't usually do reviews but this meal was horrible. Every place around us had a wait time of over a hour and we were starving and well this place had no wait. We now know why. We should of went home. First we sat in the bar area near the kitchen. It was freezing. The vent from the floor was blowing up cold air (it's January mind you). next I order a sweet tea vodka drink only to find out they don't have it, I asked about the special cocktail of the month and the waitress did know what it was. so we got beer. I ordered the NY Sirloin steak with the vegetable of the day (peas and carrots) and a baked potato. My husband ordered the Jack Daniel steak tips with fries. Not much of wait we got our food pretty quickly. I got my NY sirloin steak and it was so bad, no flavor what so ever besides the butter it was cooked in. Plus it was like it was microwaved, it didn't look like a normal steak nor did it taste like it. It was so grey and definitely not medium well. I ate maybe three bites then said forget this, this is so nasty. Now the veggies of the day, HA! How about canned veggies of the day. Um no thank you. I'm paying $19 for canned veggies and a microwave looking steak. So I turned to the potato, I mean can you screw up a potato? Or can you? So I ate that, I'm starving so I had to eat something. My husband's came out on a stir fry pan with peppers and onions. All the tips were over cooked besides one big piece of meat. The fries however were good. Overall NO we won't be back ever. Pretty Decent food for a pub... Can't complain. Service was a bit disorganized, but considering it's still new, thinking they are still getting their process down. Where do I start....ok our waitress was very nice and attentive. We went to The Auburn Tavern to celebrate a couple of family birthdays. We had never been there before but we read some reviews and decided to give it a shot. IT WAS TERRIBLE! The stuffed grape leaves in Greek portion of the menu didn't taste like none I've ever had! Most of the grape leaves were inedible and the filling tasted like burnt ground beef and rice and had some kind of weird brown gravy in it and avgolemono sauce over them. One member of the group had the fried scallop and clams they seemed to enjoy it. Another had the Tavern burger and liked that. 3 of us had what they called prime rib. I don't know what part of the cow this meat came from but it was not prime rib. They were not tender, they were not juicy and they were not cooked close to desired doneness. They came out well done not medium rare. The beef had so much unchewable gristle,, it was about 1/3 of the meat on the plate. We were driving in an unfamiliar place, since we live in Florida! It was about 3 pm, and we'd been traveling since 7 am that day. Long overdue for lunch, we stumbled upon the Auburn Tavern and were surprisingly delighted with it. It's a charming, unpretentious pub, with friendly staff who welcomed us, seated us, and served us quickly. We both ordered the fried clam roll, simple but very tasty, served piping hot! It was the perfect little meal. Delicious. We'd both recommend it to anyone! read more

We have been twice now once during the week and this time Friday afternoon. I was impressed by the service. Everyone was very friendly and professional and the waitstaff worked together to keep things moving. It was nice that we didn't wait for anything. They were ahead on asking about refills and anything else we needed. The drinks were good and well made but the thing everyone needs to know is: the spinach pie and the Greek pasta are amazing, delicious, and fabulous. I think they have someone's yia-yia hostage back there in the kitchen! So glad to have a local eatery again that is cooking up wonderful things. We'll be back! read more

We decided to give this place another try, a few years after our last experience, to do our part to support local restaurants during these Covid times. We were seated right away outdoors, but things went downhill from there. It took the waitress about 15 minutes to take our order. We then waited a full hour before our food arrived. The waitress didn't seem to be very aware of what was going on, because at one point she came and asked us how everything was when we hadn't even received our food yet. The food itself was average and definitely not worth an hour wait. At one point the owner came out and chatted with a few tables of guests who clearly knew him. We later overheard those guests being offered a discount on their food because of the wait. We were offered no such a discount. The most disturbing part of our experience was this establishment's nonchalant attitude towards masks. Many patrons were walking in and around inside without masks. To make matters worse, many of the staff members were not wearing masks or wearing them improperly. The hostess had hers on her chin, nose and mouth fully exposed. Several of the wait staff had them barely covering their mouths, noses exposed. As patrons, we expect restaurants to be following the mandated protocols so that we feel the well being of their customers is being given priority. The first very few experiences here as they were opening were less than stellar. Since they've opened full time the quality and portions of food have been well above average. If you're looking for luxury bars don't come here. If you're looking for a neighborhood bar with above average good and pleasant service, try it. Pleasantly surprised and happy that it's close to where we live as options are limited. But I will take fresh food over frozen every time and I think this place will only improve. This was our first time at the tavern and it was not a disappointment. We met my fiancé's son and his girlfriend there for dinner they've eaten there a couple of times and we were in the area so we thought it would be a good place to try. We opted to eat in tthe bar area at a hightop our server Colby was a very sweet and pleasant and she was on top of all the items that needed to be addressed water filling and drink refills etc. we started with the buffalo chicken wings and those were good. We all ordered something different one of us had the fisherman's platter which was very generous with homemade onion rings which we love. Another person had the beef ravioli, lamb shank and I had the the pan seared scallops over Italian seasoned vegetables I opted not to have it on pasta but on steamed broccoli it was very good. We all had side salads and those were very good the lettuce was fresh and crisp the vegetables were as well. The atmosphere is pub. The food was good and the service was great. We tried this place for the first time this past Saturday night for dinner. Ordered and ate at the bar. The Prime Rib was amazing and my wife had salmon which was also perfect. The prime rib was a good portion of 24oz. They also offer a smaller portion of I think 16oz. Side salad was very good and the rest of the side dishes with both dinners were very nice. My only request would be that they offer the Prime Rib with a horseradish dip on the side. The beer was great also and we like the atmosphere in the bar which has a rustic feel. The dinning room is just lacking any atmosphere so thats why we ate at the bar. There are tables to sit at in the bar area as well. Service staff was very friendly and helpful. We will defiantly be back but I do wish they would work on that dinning room atmosphere. Dont get me wrong, the place is very clean it just lacks any character in the dinning room. If you are going to drop good coin for a very nice dinner, you want the atmosphere to match. They should go for a rustic darf feel in the dinning room to match the really nice bar. Its out in the country so this look would work well. Going back!! read more

Not impressed with this place at all . I finally had gotten a chance to go and check it out. I've been very excited to have a pub local . I walked in the bar was full , restaurant side was empty. One table had a couple at the table . Me and my husband went it. I was greeted by a waitress was told to sit at any table . We sat at a table . Went to the bathroom . Woman's bathroom was old dirty stained fixtures for a new pub. The restaurant side was old decor for a new restaurant . I saw one of the chefs in the kitchen through the window on the door wipe his nose with his hand . This same person prepared our food . Our waitress came over and immediately had complained she had been there since 11 that morning . We asked corona light. They don't carry corona just corona extra. I ordered a bowl of their chix soup . It had two carrots in it, piece of celery, two small pieces of chix and all broth. I was charged 3.00 for it . My soup came out before me appetizer . I ordered the French fries , with cheese , bacon , and scallions. They arrived very quickly I was still drinking my broth from my soup . The French fries only had cheese and bacon on it . I asked the waitress when she brought the appetizer where the scallions were. She said they weren't suppose to have scallions . I said well on the menu it says it comes on it . She then proceeded to tell me that they no longer put the scallions on them , cause to many people have complained about the scallions . I said to her well that's why I ordered them . She said I'm sorry and turned and walked into the kitchen . I could hear a woman and men's voice in the kitchen speaking very loudly in the kitchen, at times heating two men yelling . Our waitress came back out and told me that they were out of scallions , that's why they weren't on them . I ended up sending the appetizer back. The fries were very mushy , and no flavoring on the fries . As she brought them back to the kitchen I heard the woman say "now what is it !" What way is that to run a business? Especially a new business , My sandwich came . I ordered pulled pick sandwich , my husband ordered a burger. Both had no flavoring very plain . We didn't finish Either one . The waitress noticed then , and just brought us our check . I would not recommend this place to anyone, nor will I be going back . read more

I was excited to have this place opened again. The first time I went the service and food were good but a little slow however I was definitely going to go back. The second time I went I sat at the bar..and sat...and sat as I watched the bartender take care of everyone around me and even walk by me several times. I finally got my drink and a menu. I ordered the pork chops that had an apple glaze, it came out pretty quick but I notice no apple glaze. I was told they were out for the glaze and wondered why since you just opened and why didn't you tell me before you served me dry, boring pork chops. They were also out of bake potatoes but the mashed was very good. My other experience that night was the incredibly rude other bartender who was male and I understand to be the manager. I was very displeased with the way he spoke to me and the comments he made. My friend was so offended, she left a full glass of wine and walked out. Not what I expect after dropping over $100 on dinner and drinks. As a new establishment you need to hire staff with better customer service skills, they are the face of your business and representing you. Being a local place, word gets around and I hear a lot of people are not please with the service or attitude of the bar staff. read more

OK. Gave it another shot and this time had a great experience, so had to come back and update my review. The bartender was attentive, friendly, and rocking a pretty full bar. I had a hot pastrami sandwich which was awesome. Husband went with a chicken caesar wrap which he said was pretty bland, but...he doesn't usually order things like that so I'm not sure what he was expecting. We went today for lunch. Used to go there when it was Holidays and before that Good Times. They expanded the bar and upgraded the rooms, very nice & brighter. Menu looked good, lots of Greek food and comfort food. I had the Grilled Pastrami & cheese sandwich on dark rye with fries (sans grilled peppers ~ what's up with that?) My friend got the Boston Burger (grilled mushrooms & onions) on toasted rye bread, with "homemade onion rings" (the only kind she will eat). The food came promptly. I immediately flipped mine over as I always do with grilled sandwiches, as the bottom tends to get soggy. The underside was much darker than the top. In other words: almost burnt. That being said I liked it because I like burnt food and the pastrami was very good. Maybe I'm so used to burning anything I cook I've developed a taste for it. Fries were okay. The burger was good except for the fact that they didn't toast the bread. The onion rings were homemade, just a little thick for our tastes, we like shoestring. We didn't complain. The bartender Stacy was very attentive. The owner John G. was also very present in the restaurant. Also some other patrons were getting the special American Chop Suey. It looked really good and enough for two. The steak Kabobs looked good also. I will definitely be back. read more

They pre-cook the chicken wings!!! I mean for God's sake. Cook the wings when your customer orders them. I like my wings extra crispy and naked.. Which is what I received here, BUT, I received them in like 5 minutes after I ordered them!! No possible way they could have been cooked in that short period of time. Decided to try the Auburn Tavern, parking lot was packed on a Friday at 6pm, dining room was busy but didn't have to wait. Service was fair, nothing special, food was lousy. Side salad looked like the ends of the lettuce, a slice of tomato, a slice of cuke and we had requested no onion- looked like it was thrown together with leftovers. My baked stuffed haddock was way overlooked, had a few cracker crumbs on top, mashed potatoes were luke warm at best, the spinach pie was a log of spinach, minimal cheeses in the dish and wrapped in phyllo, not at all what was expected and not very good, also had lukewarm to cold mashed potatoes. We will not be back, and it is too bad as we would love to have a decent restaurant in town. read more

Decided to check this place out last night, I had heard people say it was good. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly she greeted me with a smile. I asked how the steak tips were and she said they were good. I ordered them medium with fries. I was really hungry since I had not eaten since 7:30 am and it was now 6:30 pm. The tips were cooked correctly but were chewy and fatty. I was so hungry, I ate all but one, I had to spit it into my napkin. We tried the Auburn Tavern tonight. The food was edible, but nothing special. However, they had veal Parmesan on special for $17.95 and also had it listed on the very sparse menu for $15(and change). I asked the waitress the difference between the two. She said they were the same and she didn't know why it was listed twice. We also then pointed out that the "special" was priced higher than the non-special. I specified that since they are the same, I'd like the cheaper one. When our bill came, we were charged for the higher priced meal. The waitress never brought the menu concern to anyone so it could be rectified. We were quite annoyed that after we pointed it out, she still input it as the higher priced meal. We paid the higher bill and left. But, the tavern is nothing special. The decor is out of date for a new establishment. The tables were very crowded together. The waitress was pleasant enough but not attentive, and obviously did not pay much attention to our concern. Also, the toilet wasn't working when my husband went to the bathroom. And, the food was nothing special to speak of. We had high hopes because of the crowded parking lot, but the popularity seems to be just the bar. We won't be back. read more

Stopped in at the Auburn Tavern on a Saturday afternoon. We were hoping it would be better than the last place that was there. It was awful! The dining room part was bare. Reminded us of an old cafeteria. We sat down and the waitress (who seemed annoyed with us from the moment we got there) told us about the menu. She said they were out of eggplant, and they had an item on the menu that they don't serve anymore. She didn't have a reason, said they just don't. We ordered the fisherman's platter, my son got a hamburger which he ordered medium well, and my daughter got a grilled cheese sandwich. The fisherman's platter looked pretty good, but the fish (whatever it was) was watery and terribly thin. The scallops were rubbery, and the french fries were not cooked thoroughly. Yuck! My son's burger was still red in the center and my daughters grilled cheese had a hair melted right into the cheese, and sticking out the side of the sandwich. We told the waitress about the hair and she took the plate (without saying anything) and came back ten minutes later with a new sandwich. She never apologized or took money off the check for the disgusting hair. It was like - if I don't mention it, it didn't really happen. The food was not good! There was also this man who came out of the kitchen about every five minutes. He was dressed in a pair of jeans and a white shirt and would walk to the bar and back. I don't know if he was the owner or who he was but he made us very uncomfortable. We will never go back to this place and you should avoid it as well. read more

Stopped here after fishing at local spot. The entrance was difficult to find, we walked around the building before figuring out which door to go in. Our aerver was extremely nice and very attentive. Had the pork souvlaki as an appetizer, came out we'll seasoned and cooked perfectly. The chicken horiatiki was well done, pilaf was slightly overcooked and the mixed vegetables seemed canned. We also ordered the chicken and feta ravioli, unfortunately we never tasted them because we were serves lobster ravioli instead. Luckily neither of us are allergic to seafood because it took us a bit to realize why they tasted unusual. Server was horrified when we told her, and explained that the ravioli is frozen and must have been mixed up. Immediately worked with her manager to try to make things right, and am fairly certain we saw the manager head into the kitchen shortly afterwards. Not a great first visit, but will likely be back based on the souvlaki and quality of service. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My wife and I ordered take out from here tonight, I got the chicken broccoli alfredo with penne pasta and my wife just the regular Alfredo. A $30 something bill later for those 2 meals we brought them home and they looked decent enough, although the menu said heaping with cheese very flavorful something of that nature. It honestly tasted and this was both of our meals which she got the linguini pasta, it tasted like they strained the pasta in a strainer and put it into a container, added some white sauce to it with absolute no flavor couldn't even tell you what it is because it tasted like tap water. It was the most disgusting meal I have ever had in my entire life. I was so mad I was ready to drive back there to get my money back until my wife the calmer head of the 2 of us told me not to and that she would email them with a complaint. I doubt the auburn tavern will be around for very long with food like this. I was excited to try this being I loved it when it was good times and loved holidays but I guess people must go there for the bar and that's it because the food is terrible I would not tell any body to go to this place.
