Good local diner. When you think of a "diner" you usually think of a chain like Denny's or a greasy spoon. This place is closer to the greasy spoon that you know and love. They are cash only and the staff (Betsy and Dave) have quite the personality, filling the small dining area. There is no ATM if you are short on cash! It's fairly small, but it doesn't feel crowded. I had one of their 4-egg omelettes and we shared it between the two of us. It tasted good and was a lot better than I had expected. Prices are a little high when compared to the Airport Diner, but I'd rather fund my super-local diner rather than the Common Man. (Nothing against them though!) Delicious food. Good Portions. Amazing Service. It's a small restaurant, as expected of "Mom and Pop" diners, and it has a very friendly atmosphere. There were locals eating at the counter who knew each other's names as well as other travelers passing through. They are a Cash Only diner even though it says "accepts credit cards" on yelp. They have a sign on the door as you enter as well as a friendly reminder by the waitress. If ever we're passing through New Hampshire again, we will definitely stop by. Thank You read more

Stubby's Place is one of Candia's best kept secrets. This local nondescript looking breakfast and lunch place is conveniently located off Route 101 at Exit 3, right next to the big cell tower. Just go straight through the 4-way intersection (3 way stop control) and hang left. The place is open 4:30AM-2:00PM (Mon-Sat) and 5:00AM-1:00PM (Sun). Stubby's Place is a favorite place amongst the locals and regulars to gather and share the latest happenings around town. The atmosphere inside has that hometown country restaurant feel, with counter seating with an open kitchen/grill and 7 tables in the bright dining room. The owner David does the cooking here. The walls are decorated with several framed pictures including big frames with hundreds of customers pictures and the back wall has a collection NASCAR memorabilia/pictures. The breakfast menu offers the typical lineup of eggs, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, French toast, hash, home fries, and sides. The coffee brewed here is Donahue Bros. The lunch menu offerings include sandwiches,burgers, soups, chili, fries, chicken tenders, and beans n' franks. The prices here are pretty reasonable. Daily Specials are also offered including American chop suey, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, and on Fridays, fried fish (haddock). I stopped in here for breakfast very recently before my shift. Seating here is first come first served. I was offered fresh brewed coffee ($1.50) as I took a seat. The coffee here was good, slightly strong, the way I enjoy it. There were several groups of local seniors carrying on conversations across several tables. They were discussing the recent flooding in the area, and which roads were shut down. I overheard that several roads around Kmart in Hooksett were closed due to flooding, which clued me in to take a different route to work and instead drive through Candia and Deerfield to get to Concord. I ordered a Western Omelet ($5.00) with American cheese ($0.50). served with homefries and toast. The 2 egg omelet was halfmoon shaped mix with eggs, and plenty of green peppers, onions, ham, and cheese, pretty good tasting. The homefries were very good, which were soft fresh cut potatoes and browned on the grill. The wheat toast was already buttered. Overall, the breakfast here was pretty good and standard, nothing fancy, just home cooking. The service was very friendly and attentive. The waitress walked around the dining room with a coffee pot refilling coffee mugs. I was given two much needed top offs on the coffee, to start my long day. I was greeted by the waitress when I entered and exited the place, a great sign that they appreciate my business. I did make it to Concord by dodging a few newly formed ponds along the side of several back roads. read more

This is one spot that I always enjoy. A real "local" small restaurant where the locals go. Not a place with upscale atmosphere but The food is always good and the service always friendly. Nothing fancy here but good and plain food, with fresh cut "real " French fries - some of the best you can find. Breakfast and lunch served. Definitely recommend this one! read more

While in NH for bike week we stopped in to try this place out and we are so happy that we did. The place is small and very casual but what a friendly atmosphere! The waitress was prompt, the food was delicious and came out fast. If you are in the area definitely worth stopping in. I went to Stubby's with my boyfriend for breakfast and both of us were famished. We left queasy. I want to start off by saying the 2 stars is because our waitress was spectacular. She needs a bigger audience. She's absolutely great. Her daughter was good too, but the mom really welcomed people and hustled. Aside from the eggs, everything was pre-made and ready to be nuked, fried, or toasted. That really didn't bother me, you get what you pay for. What turned our stomachs? Well, the kitchen is in the open and well, it's in the open. Thus, you see the chef and her "habits". Somebody get her some liquid sanitizer. Stat! Offenses included : coughing without washing, scratching the inside of her nose with her knuckle and not washing (then putting bread in toaster), wiping eye snot and then on her behind. Finally, one big crotch scratch. I'm not kidding. Coffee was great! Service was above par. Just have to nail those health issues. read more

While bicycling along the nearby Rockingham Recreational Trail we were in need of lunch and found Stubby's through Yelp. The entryway was so full of junk and building supplies we considered giving Stubby's a pass, but once through the door we found the classic roadhouse diner. The kitchen is open to the room and the greeting friendly. The burger and the steak bomb were both delicious and well prepared. The fries, sadly, were greasy and not at all crispy. Stopped in at Stubby's on the way to a local car show last Sunday morning. We almost didn't go in because the exterior didn't look too clean or welcoming, I would recommend a little sprucing up and a better sign over the door. Once inside we found it to be very charming and welcoming....although could use a little sprucing up inside too. We were greeted very nicely and told we could take whatever seat you want. Breakfast was delicious.... blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon and home fries and was priced very reasonably. They use styrofoam plates and it's a no frills place but, the waitress was great and everyone was very friendly. Just like the "star" chart says for 5-stars: "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I have been a resident of Candia for some time now and sadly have just never made it over to Stubby's Place until recently. I am so glad I did. I went on back-to-back days, once with my 5-year-old son and then the following morning with my wife. Stubby's is a diner setting and if you're expecting to walk into a palace with Bach's Toccata And Fugue In D Minor playing softly in the background you're going to be disappointed. Think more like Rock 101 and a chef slingin' hash and calling out the orders. Stubby's is a family-feel restaurant with smiling, talkative and friendly staff more than willing to bend over backwards to make your visit an enjoyable one. The menu offers more selections than most restaurants I have been to and the option to choose breakfast or lunch at any given time is a HUGE plus. The portions are enormous and you will definitely get your moneys worth. During my visit with my wife I had biscuits and sausage gravy and she had a cheeseburger that she insists is one of the best she's ever had.
