I was recommended to Dr. Wood from a friend. I find her to be warm, caring and a very real person to connect with. This was my first visit to the Audio Center in Babylon. I write from my own experiences. While a further trip then my current Audio Center, I am glad I went. She was thorough in testing and well spoken so I could hear the information she shared. I give her 5 stars. Her office person Diane was not in at this visit. I have not gotten the hearing aids yet and I can only hope they are better than the ones I currently have. Which to my surprise were covered with wax and she cleaned them for me. No wonder they were not working well. (yes, I had made unsuccessful appointment attempts at my current hearing place when I started having problems with them) Thus once gotten and adjusted new hearing aids, and seeing and hearing how they work, I can refurb on the extra star. The area is beautiful. Main Street and Argile Theater are down the block. Thre is also a pond in the back (birds with babies) off the parking area. Note: If using a GPS put in 20 Argile Square to take you directly to parking lot and upon entering note the direction of the arrows to find parking and entrance. (see pix) Office is at far end. It is comfortably furnished with varied certificates and pictures placed on the walls. Note: Hours and days, or call or check as needed for appointments and follow ups. Dr. Jo Ann Wood is a wonderfully patient, caring, attentive doctor. I had some difficulties working with my hearing aids and Dr. Wood met with me multiple times until I was able to figure out what MY problem was. She is easily accessible, by email, telephone, and in person. I recommend her highly without reservation! read more

Dr. Wood is compassionate, friendly, and understanding. She helped me find hearing aids that work perfectly for me. It's such a noticeable difference when I take them out at night. I knew my hearing was bad but it got worse after radiation and chemo for my stage IV breast cancer. Dr. JoAnn Wood, I just opened this Yelp account to respond to your response to my wife, which holds so many inaccuracies I'm not sure where to begin. First regarding you taking back the loaner aid, my appointment was "to get my new hearing aid" , which I assumed to mean it was there, you meant to order it. Once ordered and paid for, with a week to two weeks timeframe to arrive, I was then asked to return the loaner, leaving me essentially deaf (which is where my wife said you left me deaf not made me deaf) for several weeks until my aid came in. First under restrictions on my license along with corrective lenses is hearing aid... therefore legally I could not drive without an aid. But more importantly I could not hear. I came to you initially because my old hearing aid died, and we had recently moved away from the audiologist I had been with since 2002. So I had no back up and was now driving home non hearing and illegally. But as you explained, this was a favor on your part... well a favor until i purchased a new aid, and then you needed it back for other clients to try. My wife was very upset when I returned without any hearing aid and called you for an explanation, at which time she could not get a word in edgewise over your defensive chatter, and proceeded to get loud to be heard. No one talked badly to you, just loudly. You did acquiesce to return the loaner, but under some duress, and at that point the doctor/patient relationship was strained. To say you planned on dropping me unless I promised my wife would "behave" is ludicrous. First I just purchased a several thousand dollar aid, which carried a one year warranty, and your services. Would you have refunded the cost if you were not going to complete your part? Next, the third party insurance you kept talking about was introduced to me by you. I came to you with Medicare insurance only and you suggested this insurance which supposedly gave us a better price. That was entirely your suggestion. I had appointments with you every several months or so, several asked for by me, throughout the year. Every single visit I complained I could not hear well with this aid, and it did not fit my ear canal, I had to hold it in with my finger. My last visit to you, you replied "Theres nothing more I can do", never having solved either problem. Two visits to my new audiologist had me hearing as I should, and the aid fitting in my ear correctly, no more holding it in to hear. Upon those visits it was noted, the aid was never fitted properly, and the background noise test was either never administered, or administered wrong. I think that kind of says it all and validates my complaints. Lastly my wife never said to you, you saved my marriage, it doesn't need saving, and it is not a sentence she would ever utter. I do find something interesting though, since my wife wrote her 1star review, several people have come forward with 5 star reviews both stating they have been patients for years. First, anyone who gives Dr. Wood a bad review doesn't know her or has yet to spend any time getting to know her and her level of care. She is a caring professional that goes out of her for her patients. She treats her patients like family. I know because I have been going for years and she works so hard to try and help me hear better. She is patient and explains things clearly, She will try and find different products to help me hear better. She loaned me hearing aids when my old ones weren't helping me out anymore. That is the kind of person Dr. Wood is. She wants her patients to hear better and will do what she can to help them. Anyone who left her a bad review doesn't know her or hasn't spent any time getting to know her. This is my third set of hearing aids (every 3 years I get a new pair) and she works hard to help me hear the best I can. read more

Both my husband and I went to Audio Center of Babylon to get our hearing aides. The office was very accommodating when we made our appointment as we needed it after regular hours. We met with Dr JoAnn Wood. She made us feel very comfortable and was very informative about the testing she would do and about the hearing aides. She was so patient with us and answered all of our questions. Our hearing aides are working very well for us. Now I only have to call my husband once for dinner! Ahhh. The little things in life! We are very happy with our hearing aides and would highly recommend Audio Center and Dr. Wood! read more

I'm giving 2 stars because the receptionist was nice. The owner which is the doctor was soooooo rude. I was trying to get hearing aid batteries for my daughter and explain my situation to her and she got loud on the phone and hung up on me. It's not about me but it is about my daughter. Her being the doctor, she couldn't put her feelings to the side to try and help. I was not rude or disrespectful to her but just needing some info. She was rude and disrespectful. I will never go back there. People like that dont deserve my kindness or respect. She can go and crawl under a rock for all I care. read more
