If you go up and down the long way, you can get a nice 3.5 miles in on this baby with some hills. Throw in a weighted vest, and you're getting yourself a solid light workout. There are already so many reviews, so just some notes: 1) Make your way around the current dump (also a Nassau County gem, seriously) and drive slowly. 2) Parking is tricky at certain times of the day and on weekends. Make sure to come before 9:30 on beautiful days, or else you'll be parking far, far away. More steps, If you really want them I guess. 3) Wear your sunscreen! Skin cancer is no joke, and it's pretty bright up top with not a lot of coverage if you walk around to the lake. 4) Beware...No lights in the bathroom and really not the best place to use the loo. There however is a shopping center close by... 5) Look out of all sorts of critters from birds to bugs.. including ticks.

Todays visit to the Community Center in Syosset Woodbury Park had an Hour long Holiday Magic…read morepresentation by the Silver Songbirds. ( see pix) For those who might be using a GPS be aware once entering the park to make aright turn and follow to the back parking lot where the Center is. The group was lead by Susan Lilli's - Conductor & Narrator. They sang a variety of holiday songs and did a few skits, also handing out candy canes to the audience. "Nancy" played the drum for " Little drummer boy". They ended with "Auld Lang Syne wishing the audience good holidays and Happy New Year. In the back there were a few snacks for the sharing. The building itself has some children's decor, a display of wall tiles and a little Christmas tree in the hall.

I came to this place as a chaperone for a school field trip. I have to start by saying that the…read moreentire grounds are beyond amazing! There are so many plants, flowers, and a beautiful greenhouse. Everything outdoors was stunning, and despite the heat, it was a wonderful day to spend outside. The kids had a great time, and the parents acting as chaperones enjoyed the nature as well, we were able to hear the birds, smell the flowers, and take beautiful pictures. Everything was great from that perspective. However, when we took the tour inside the castle, things took a turn. There is no AC inside, and it was a very hot day. You can imagine having a large group of kids inside a stuffy museum after they had already been out in the sun! They had a scavenger hunt set up for the kids, yet when the kids actually found the items, the staff very angrily told them they weren't allowed to touch anything. It makes no sense to host a scavenger hunt for children if they aren't allowed to interact with the items. In every single room we entered, they were just barking orders: 'Don't touch, don't lean, don't do this, don't do that.' It was incredibly frustrating, especially given the heat. To make matters worse, one of the girls working with the tour guide kept complaining out loud, saying, 'Oh my God, oh my God, these kids.' It was very unprofessional. No tiene sentido organizar una búsqueda del tesoro para niños si no pueden interactuar con los objetos. En cada habitación a la que entrábamos, solo nos decían: 'No toquen, no se apoyen, no hagan esto, no hagan aquello'. Fue muy frustrante, especialmente por el calor. Para colmo, una de las muchachas que estaba con el guía no dejaba de quejarse diciendo: 'Ay Dios mío, ay Dios mío, estos niños'. Fue muy poco profesional.

You can enter the trail from different directions, which makes it convenient. The views are beautiful and serene. There are also eateries nearby, like Harbor Mist and others along the main street areas. Definitely recommend it for a quick nature outing.

We hiked the first 2.2-mile, Nassau Suffolk *out-and-back* Trail. Just keep walking until you see the road and from there, you can either turn back or cross the street to hike the second *loop* Trail. Highly recommend coming here to hike if you're in the area.

There was beauty and tranquility with every step on our stroll. We spoke with the lovely Mary S Garden and she inspired us to complete our garden at home. Mary was so knowledgeable and friendly and not only answered all our questions but gave great advice on horticulture, composting, and much more. All the staff were friendly! Take your time to stroll and look at all the beauty surrounding you at every turn. Leave your worries in the garden. It's quite a small area of land compared to the parks/preserves in the area, but while you are within the bounds of this garden, it feels quite peaceful/zen. It is designed to mimic that of Japanese Garden. The details of the wooden cross bridge, abundant bamboo trees, stone lanterns/water basins, the pond and the Japanese tea house located in the middle all make you almost forget that you are in NY and feel like you are transported to Japan for a moment. It's a really nice escape while taking in the sights & having a casual stroll. Although I do suggest a visit once, I don't think it's worth the trek coming all the way here just for this (just because it only takes 30min max). It's a great detour while having other things on the agenda to do around the area.
