Art in the park on a super windy Saturday. Many participants needed to close up sho and leave early. It had at one point become too dangerous and difficult for them to stay. The quarter amount of sellers who stuck it out after the wind died down had some interesting items for sale. A copper enamel pin, a photo of the beach, a tray, a pottery vase , some booths fog children's items along with food trucks and the like. This is a lovely spot to hang out with friends and family of all ages. Lots of places to sit--benches, a gazebo, and of course right by the water. There are a lot of recreational areas, including a nice kid playground. Keep in mind that this is the bay, not 'the beach.' You can swim in the water and lay on the sand, but it's rocky (this is the north shore, after all). Some ocean-going purists may not like it, but it's fine by me! I also love that this is so close to the main drag in Oyster Bay. It's super convenient to pick up some food or drinks if you didn't pack your own. read more

Oh, it's changed. When I was here in the mid-80s, there were no ball field or tennis courts. There was a big stretch of road where the firemen used to practice their ladder skills and the local drivers ed learned how to drive. Since then, many improvements. The park now has tennis courts, a softball field, picnic shelter, a playground and a huge parking lot. There are several memorials including one to Theodore Roosevelt. Large park with lots of open space. Not much shade but lots of flexibility otherwise. You can walk right up to the water, and there's a small sandy beach area. There's also a playground or two. If you so fancy, it's also fun to walk by the sailboats that are docked. There are some pretty nice ones! A nice spot to gather with friends and family, especially as we're all looking for places to gather outside. Includes public bathrooms. Parking near the entrance was oddly easy - maybe an anomaly on this mild fall day. There isn't much labeled in terms of prohibited parking, so we took our chances on a spot that seemed to be connected to the train stop. read more

Again another place I never knew about until I had my boy. I swear I should have been reading the newsday funbook all these years. Anyway we came here it was a chilly day but my son couldn't care less. It's the perfect little bay for a toddler to throw rocks in or splash a bit in. Then a playground. I think eventually it's residents only but it was fine when we went. I hate all this residents only stuff lol :P anyway I cannot wait to come back here. read more

This is one of my favorite local beaches to go to when I'm back home visiting parents. I get it that there is no convenience store set up in the area and that can be frustrating, but today i took my daughter to the 2 parka available here and she was in heaven. Stopped by Oyster Bay while driving through Long Island. Town is very cute and fun little restaurants. Tried to go to the park. Massive signs at the entrance that say for residents only. ID required. No dogs. We have a dog. That's fine if they are not allowed. But what's with the only residents?! I have never seen a park that displayed that before. read more

This time, no guard so we strolled in and enjoyed the beautiful harbor vistas and took pix of the boats and the swan. Very pretty day and what about this gorgeous weather? There were not much in this park, but we had a great time spending a Saturday afternoon here. There was a playground that had slides, swings and some climbing exercise for big kids, but the playground was a little bit challenging for toddlers. There was a paved path for riding a bike and playing scooter. A big lawn was amazing, we played balls and tried to fly a kite in the lawn. The seagulls were a plus! Kids had fun feeding and watching seagulls by the water. There were basketball and tennis courts in this park. The park was clean and not too crowded. The parking lot is huge, but this park is also located next to a LIRR station. Very convenient location. Will come back when the weather is warmer. read more

Came to Oyster Bay by boat and found this beautiful park outside the marine center. Apparently drug use is allowed in the park but dogs are prohibited. We walked our leashed dogs first night we arrived and were surprised to see people seemly strung out under one of the pavilions (slumped, sleeping in their own bodily fluids), and kept walking. A Public Safety Officer slowed when they saw us with the dogs but kept driving past the pavilion. Fast forward a couple of days, walking the dogs on a hot summer day, looking for shade, and a Public Safety officer drove up to me, stopped and asked me to leave the park with my leashed dogs because dogs were not allowed, especially with children present and I was threatened with a summons. No signs were posted. I was flabbergasted but obliged. So dog people beware! read more

This is a GREAT park! We came here after acquiring our beach pass and realizing this is a TOB beach. Large parking lot with a very short walk to the water. Tons of space on the sand to spread out and spend the day relaxing. Only a small portion of the bay is swimmable (at least for the time being) but still a better option than being swept under by a wave in the ocean. Large walking paths take you throughout the rest of the park. There is a beautiful memorial area that overlooks the boats in the marina next door. Tons of fields for sports, tennis courts that stay open until 10PM, and a BBQ area if you're grilling or throwing a party. Certain areas of the park don't allow loud music, which is a nice touch. There is an entrance directly from the Oyster Bay LIRR station to the park itself. The same entrance lets you out on Audrey Ave. where you can find a bunch of food options. There is also a snack stand on the shore if you need something while you're swimming. Unsure of the fee to get in if you don't have a sticker but I think it might only be open to town residents (which is great). So much to see and do here you can't possibly be bored. read more

Cute park with a pier, beach, tennis court, basketball court, picnic tables, etc. Great spot for kids and families. It's conveniently located right next to the Oyster Bay LIRR Station. During the summer they have SUP Paddle Boarding available. It's a great place to stroll around during the day or watch the sunset at dusk. There's a parking fee if you come during the day but if you come at 7pm there's no fee. If you walk outside of the park, there's a couple of food & ice cream shops. The only part I don't like about this park is the small beach. The sand is awfully rocky and not smooth. read more

Don't you just get that crazy, Christopher Columbus feeling of "discovery" (of something that was already there looooooong before you arrived!!) when you find a place that's new to you?? I did, thanks to my ever-loving hubby, who came back to NY with me earlier this month, and some "exploring" on the web to find some new, not too far from home (Huntington) N. Shore places to visit. Sometimes, the best "surprises" are waiting right next door... Great beach/park combo, definitely something for just about everyone!! Love the new/updated walkway with gorgeous views of the LI Sound (and a few awesome zillion dollar homes!!) Noticed the local high school plays lacrosse here on some very well kept fields, and there are also basket ball courts available. We were here "playing hooky" on a lazy Thursday, mid-spring, but I imagine, as shown in the reviews, things get a bit more crowded here during the summer, especially on the weekends. I'm sure if you follow the "early morning or later in the day" rule, you'll probably avoid much of the crowds... Bring a picnic lunch or dinner and enjoy that "tropical island breeze!!" read more

Beach / Park on Oyster Bay. Roosevelt Park is one of the many small, local beaches dotting the North Shore of Long Island. This is one of the larger parks if you count in the entire waterfront area with the marina and the less developed area to the west. The park has just about something for everyone- there is of course the beach, but it is on a bay and there is zero wave action. The beach proper is a fairly good size, but be warned, like all beaches on the north shore, it is covered in small rocks. You will need some sort of beach shoes to walk across the sand. There is a bike / roller blade path running along the length of the beach and park and a ball field, picnic area, tennis / handball courts, BBQ areas and a playground for the little ones rounds out the offerings. I love this place if only to play handball in the summer morning before the sun makes it unbearable. The LIRR station is literally right next to the park so if you take the train you are feet from your destination and as an added bonus, while laying in the sand you get to hear all train whistles and it can get nostalgic with the engine ringing the bell as it pulls in. Plenty of open space to throw your blanket down and soak up the sun or watch the people or boats out on the bay. There is a nice long wall on which to sit in the promenade area - the big stones make it nice and comfy and you can just sit there with the breeze blowing on you as the sailboats go by. There is also a small food concession thing there in case you are hungry. Ample parking but it is not free- the cost per day for non-residents is $10. The better bet is to park in the Train station lot (no matter what the signs say about not doing it) and walk the 2 minutes to the beach. read more

It's not even summer and I already love all of what this great park has to offer. Beaches, bike paths, benches, boat ramps, ball fields... Alliterations aside, what more could you ask for? Even when the sun beats on you on a warm spring day while just sitting in your car while people watching. Something about hearing the water and the birds helps to mellow you out and brings a sense of tranquility, no matter what you're dealing with and is a great respite from the normal hustle of everyday life. The Hits: -Great access to public transport for out of towners -New handball/basketball courts -New dock for launching boats -Plenty of parking for boat trailers -Benches and picnic tables -Lots of space to walk around and enjoy a nice summer day -On a clear day you can see out to CT. WooHoo! The Misses: -Can get a bit packed on a nice Sat/Sun -Yea, it's a North Shore beach...the sand STINKS. It's like the rocks they used to put around the playground in elementary school only less delicious. -You go in the water and just stand there. No relaxing wave action. Nice park and beach. Parking is for residents only so you have to park a ways a way and walk. The bathrooms are clean in the morning and fairly messy by the afternoon. The grass is home to a large lock of geese - so watch out for the poop! The beach is rocky. The water level goes up and down noticeably with the tide. The water itself is bay water (as in oyster bay) so it's not so clear - tends to look muddy. read more

This is the park I grew up at. I was here a lot with my friends and we always felt like it was our park. Every year my unofficial Godmother throws her Labor Day picnic at the park. I missed the last two because I live so far away. Coming back this year I must say the park looks amazing. Everything is redone. The walkways are stone, new trees are planted, the playgrounds are new for the children, and the courts got a makeover. I am happy to see that this park is great. They also did the bathrooms and canteen where you can get a good meal. The town finally invested in this park and it paid off. The only thing I noticed was the water spring is still closed. Fresh water use to come out and people would line up and get the water. The town closed it and it's been that way ever since. I Cherish this park and the memories I've had here, I hope the next generation appreciates what they have. There's really no excuse not to show up, the train is right next to the park and there is plenty of parking. This park is definitely a summer time destination if you've never been. read more

Really nice park in which they hold fairs during the summer. It's a short walk into the town where you can grab a bite to eat and some great Italian ices from bonanzas. The park has boat access with it public dock making it an ideal pit stop while on the water. read more

I drove 30 minutes expecting this nice serene park. I arrived and was happy i did not have to pay parking. I got there after 5 and it was a beautiful hot sunny day. Ice cream truck was out selling ice cream. It was a good start until we walked on the beach. First off there was no sand, it was rocks. It hurts your feet to walk on and its uncomfortable. Then when I finally get to the water. I realized the water was dirt brown and was so gross. This is not a beach like the ones in the south shore. This was so bad. However, the view of the water was nice and so was the landscaping of the place. Another downfall, was the people that were there. Someone hit my boyfriends car mirror. Classy. Also, they were all screaming and blasting loud music not good. I would not recommend too bad because it has potential. read more

Small park located on Long Island's North Shore. It has a small rocky beach which is nice for the locals. The dock houses some beautiful boats. Park is well maintained and its very close to the Oyster Bay LIRR station. Not sure if I would come back again although its nice to go for a walk if you're around the down town Oyster Bay area. read more

The park is ok. Not much for facilities aside from sports. Walking along the water is very enjoyable during the summer. Park in the train station lot and walk over if you are from out of town. Very expensive to park as an out of town resident for what you get. Warning: the boat ramp is very active during the summer and the fumes from the idling boats can be overwhelming at time. read more

I gave this a five star rating because last night I had a nice get together with my family. We had a picnic under a big shade area. They were many picnic tables but the tables we sat on were like cafeteria style. After we ate we went to the beach. I liked that the sand was not too Sandy it was mostly rocks. It also has an area where you can play various sports like basketball, volleyball, tennis, and etc. They have two bathrooms that were often cleaned by the janitor from what I saw. There is an area where you can buy snacks which includes a vending machine. Then there was a playground which had 3 swings and a lot of slides. And I like that it had different types of obstacles in the playground that you wouldn't see often. Now I had to save the best for last. At the end we went to the carnival. It was well lit up. They were many rides and games to play. I went on the crazy bus ride. As we watched the ride before us go their ride was shorter than ours, The lady continued moving it for us because she saw we had fun. Then we went on this ride where it was a dragon spinning round and round like a roller coaster. The man had a positive great attitude. He high fived all the kids when they went round a round. He looked so happy and thats great because it makes the kids more excited. They had a bunch of snack stations. The one my family got was zeppoles they had fried Oreos. I loved this day so much and I will never forget it. Definitely should go. read more

Although the park and beach are very picturesque, my experience running into an acquaintance recently while at the park was anything but. It was ugly scene, contrasted heavily by the beauty of the area. Needless to say, I did not enjoy that day. Regardless, I find this park to be a refreshing and welcome presence in my life. Some of my best memories have occurred here, which do not include the already mentioned run-in with my acquaintance However, there is a lively boating and fishing community, so if you're into that or playing handball or basketball, the park will probably be a fun place for you to check out. This park is just ok. It's yet another Long Island park that will not allow you to bring your leashed dog. It can't understand why Long Island is so dog un-friendly. You can however, bring your screaming, poorly behaved kids. Go figure. read more

It's an okay park. There are a lot of sports facilities there that I never use. The beach is quiet, the view is okay and there's some space to walk. Nothing too special. I'm thankful that people can't bring their dogs. Surprisingly, there is not much bother from noisy kids (I avoid parks in the summer, so this is the rest of the year). An annoyance is that you can hear clay shooting coming from the yacht club. Rich assholes ruin everything ... welcome to LI. Pity Oyster Bay has nothing much to offer after you've been there once or twice. read more

This beach is so stress-free! We go every year on the 4th of July and there's something so easy about it. It's easy to get to, easy to park in, has a decent crowd, and is at the most non-scary body of water you could ever imagine. Plus there are really no (enforced) rules, yet it still feels safe. Imagine that? People are just good. The only problem is the rocky sand, but that's just the north shore; what can you do? (What you CAN do is wear flip flops until the very last second, actually.) I like this beach to chill out and relax. There is usually an ice cream truck there and the concession stands have finally opened. Great walkways and two parks for the kids. There are also tennis courts, a baseball field and a soccer field. Lots of people come her to just unwind and fish. You can walk into town for food etc. read more

Beautiful beach and great facilities and activities, the only downside is the crowd that goes there. I think because the trains are right there this beach gets a lot of undesirable city people here.
