That's kinda how I feel about writing this in public domain but then again, a quality doctor is so hard to find. How else will you know if they're good unless the patient reviews?? I discovered Dr. Gershowitz by way of my Uncle. I know strange but my Uncle worked for Montefiore Medical Center for almost 25 years so when it came to doctors he always had the best resources. I've been going to Dr. Gershowitz for a few years now and after some pretty crappy OBGYN experiences, she is the best. Nice bedside manner and gets down to business. Prepares and explains everything she is going to do. Is thorough in her questioning and seems genuinely concerned about her patients well being. She will always give her honest opinion as a doctor, not as someone promoting a medication. Things to know: -The office line is usually busy. Keep trying. - Expect for it to be hard to get an appointment. When you call be prepared that your appointment may be scheduled weeks or even months in advance. -They don't take debit or credit card payments under $20 so if your co-pay is less, bring cash. -Dr. Gershowitz is perpetually late and sometimes disappears after your appointment even if she wants to talk to you. Be patient, schedule at least 60-90 minutes in your own calendar for your visit. Another secret tip, Dr. Gershowitz is quite liberal with BC samples. A nice plus.

And Dr. Gershowitz used to be very warm and seemed to care about your problems, but I went in a few months ago concerned about a potential STD and she brushed off my concerns saying my symptoms were "most likely" a result of my birth control. I insisted on being tested anyway, and luckily although they did come back negative for STDs, I did have a bacterial infection that would have gotten worse if I didn't treat it. It just frustrates me that my doctor, who has supposedly been in this field for a long time, would downplay legitimate concerns and symptoms. I felt like she was in such a rush to see other patients that my concerns were being treated like I just wanted attention. Then when I called for a follow-up appointment, I was told the next available was over 2 months away. Maybe this is just a NYC thing, but it's totally ridiculous to me that someone should have to wait TWO MONTHS to take care of their health. It's great she's so popular, but maybe she should limit taking new patients so she can actually take care of the ones she already has. I'm finding another gyno that actually has time for me.

My experience with Dr. Distler at Westside GI was horrific and traumatic and deeply disappointing. I went in for an endoscopy with hopes of addressing new symptoms and concerns, but the entire process left me feeling neglected, ignored, and uncared for. Before the procedure, I attempted to communicate my symptoms and concerns to Dr. Distler, but unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to speak with him directly. Despite leaving a message with the receptionist requesting a call from the doctor, I never received one. This lack of communication set a concerning tone for the entire experience. My scheduled appointment for 10 am turned into a lengthy wait, with me not being seen until about 12:15 pm. This significant delay only added to my anxiety and frustration, especially considering my desire to communicate with the doctor beforehand. Throughout the entire process, I repeatedly requested to speak with Dr. Distler about my symptoms and concerns. However, my requests were ignored, and I was abruptly introduced to the anesthesiologist, Dr. Francisco Narvaez, without any prior introduction. Dr. Narvaez proceeded to administer anesthesia without addressing my concerns or providing any reassurance, resulting in a painful and distressing experience. As I was laying down requesting to speak with Dr. Distler, Dr. Narvaez shoved something around my mouth and the anesthesia in my arm while I'm asking him to stop while Dr. Distler was right there. The lack of empathy and communication from both Dr. Distler and Dr. Narvaez made me feel like nothing more than a paycheck, rather than a human being seeking medical care. Even after the procedure, during my recovery, Dr. Distler failed to check in on me or provide any post-operative care. The lack of follow-up and concern for my well-being further reinforced my belief that Dr. Distler prioritizes financial gain over patient care. Four days post-procedure, I still hadn't received any communication about my results. When I reached out, I was informed that I needed to call and make an appointment to receive them. This lack of proactive communication and the requirement to make an appointment solely for results delivery felt like another instance of prioritizing financial gain over patient care. I called multiple times leaving messages for him to call me back for the past two years and he still can't give me a call. In conclusion, my experience with Dr. Distler at Westside GI was deeply disappointing and traumatic. The lack of communication, empathy, and follow-up care demonstrated by Dr. Distler and his team left me feeling neglected and uncared for. As a result of this experience, I have lost trust in Dr. Distler and will not be returning to his practice. This traumatic experience has also left me hesitant to seek medical care in the future, as I no longer feel comfortable entrusting my health to healthcare professionals who prioritize profit over patient well-being. Also he has this one particular receptionist who answers the phone, she comes across as rude, unprofessional, unhelpful and lacking great customer service skills.

I found an endocrinologist who was compassionate and figured out that I have an autoimmune disease that needed to be treated. Are you a woman that doesn't want children? This doctor will tell you that one day you will change your mind. I a 46, never wanted kids and I have no regrets. I hate when people have the audacity to say this kind of thing. This doctor has many kids and once interrupted my appt to speak to her kids school for an hour. Just rude. She will also give you any prescription you ask for. It's impossible to talk to the doctor without paying the copay for a visit, and I'm not confident that even that would yield positive results in the form of a medicine being delivered. I've not had this problem with other providers who have staff dedicated to dealing with pharmacies. I feel unheard.
