I wanted to visit the old city gates ever since we started visiting St. Augustine back in 2015. We did not see it until years later because it is a far walk from the inn of where we usually stay. Also, there has been an extreme influx of tourists and homeless people so walking on St. George street can be obnoxious. The structure is old and not modified so it is really authentic. The gates are at the end of St. George street so if you keep walking, you cannot miss them. Although we went at night to explore, we could still bask in the beauty of it due to the obvious historical architecture. This monument is definitely something to see when visiting St. Augustine. I am sure many walking tours stop here as well. It is also right across from the Fort so you can venture to both consecutively.
