I've been to Aunt Berta's Kitchen in Haddon Township several times. Inside, it appeared to be clean, with plenty of places to sit and eat. The employees were friendly, helpful, and masked. Ordered a to-go fish platter with mac and cheese and candied yams. The fried fish was really good, the mac and cheese was cool, and the candied yams just tasted like regular yams. I went to Aunt Berta's Too in Lindenwold/Clementon NJ . The man that was at the register was not pleasant all to myself and the other customers in line with me . He was very rude when i was just letting him know that my food was sitting there when my coworker about to give him our name, thats the first thing , Secondly we ordered the mix anmd match platters which arent cheap ( $19.95 each) , and we each got a dessert. I was fine with the cost until my coworker requested ketchup and hot sauce he stated that we need to pay for the condiments or use the in store condiments for the customers that are dining in, like huh ! the food should come with them if you request them . Then I was paying for my dessert, and he put it in another customer's bag and gave that to me to leave the store if it wasn't for my honesty that person would not have had a meal and instead of a thank you he stated that he should never be listening to customers, but the bag that I was claiming had already been given to my coworker . This was just a very unpleasant experience, and he needs to realize that yes you are providing a service, but I am paying for it so good customer service is something you should provide. The staff is super sloooooow as @*%# but then are not shy about hitting customers up for a tip (just for bagging takeout orders from the kitchen)... - I found a sharp curved piece of metal in green beans I ordered. Had I bit down on it, it would've been bad (and resulted in a lawsuit)! Also found a pice of hard plastic in a recent bite of sweet potato pie! - We had an issue recently where a GrubHub order we placed never made it to our house (although the driver claimed it was delivered but provided no proof of delivery photo). When we followed up to complain to GrubHub and request a refund I guess they penalize or charged-back the restaurant and not the driver. In any event these clowns at Aunt Berta's Too have apparently blamed us (the customer) for the screw up. Their staff had the rudest, most discourteous interaction with my wife when she recently went into the restaurant (in spite of the fact that I/we have spent literally HUNDREDS of dollars with their establishment in the last few months -- probably approaching $1,000 including Thanksgiving 2023 catering). Hubby said he would go back at anytime.. he states ribs were really good very unusual for him because he likes the broiled or grill style ribs and these were pan cooked with sauce on top collard greens had a good flavor not overcooked and he really liked potato salad. I had the fried fish with sweet corn and collard greens. The fried fish was extremely well cooked flavorful and plentiful I found the collard greens to be very leafy not overcooked like a lot of soul food establishments and the sweet corn was just that very sweet and fresh. Large Portions size for the price, the sweet tea I found too sweet hubby liked it. Although, it appeared to be instant tea and not fresh brewed. Because it's located in Berlin flea market bathrooms were not an issue. I thought the seating area could be a little cleaner. Staff was friendly & accommodating. Went here after helping a family friend shop for furnishings for her new apartment. Wife had the salmon cakes, our friend had smothered chicken and I had fried whiting. My cousin wanted to get the kids together to celebrate Juneteenth and we wanted to support our local business and get some soul food. I have had an hankering for Aunt Berta's ever since my wife and I dined from there years ago. The location of the flagship location is just a little out of the ways from Marlton so we haven't been back since. When I found out there was a satellite location at the Berlin Market located down Route73 I decided to grab some grub before the GGG-Canelo fight. The Berlin Market closes at 8:00PM. I arrived around 7:30 with the expectation of something being 86'ed. I ordered the white meat fried chicken platter, and a turkey wing platter but there was no more fried chicken in the trays. The extremely pleasant young lady behind the counter asked one of the cooks if he could fry some more chicken. Had he said no I would have completely understood since it was late but as luck would have it he agreed to fry up some more chicken. This was my moms first time and she couldn't stop talking about the quality and quantity of the turkey wing platter. She said that he consisted of the perfect amount of flavor and spice. Most of all she enjoyed her cabbage and corn. I appreciate the dude taking the time to fry up some more chicken and it was good, but it was just good. I think the next time I go back I will opt for some fish, or go back to the ribs. The sides were delicious but get there early so you are not getting the scraps. This is no way meant to disrespect the Berlin Mart because that place is awesome but I hate seeing a place with so much potential be hidden away in a flea market. I was walking through and stumbled upon this spot and thank god I did because boy was I surprised. Most southern cooking spots are either too bland, or taste like it was reheated in the microwave. This place was neither and reminded me of going over my best friends house growing up and having some down homecoming. The collard greens and cabbage were cooked perfectly and made for an awesome side. The Mac-n-cheese was great and didn't taste like it came out of a box. Then the fried chicken... well that was my favorite. Of course you can go to Popeyes or KFC and get good fried chicken, but this is in a different league.
