The oxtail was fall off the bone and the gravy pairing very well with the rice. Stacey, one of the owners (along with her husband doing some of the cooking in the back) was super sweet and very helpful in explaining their dishes to a 1st time patron to their restaurant! I loved the Salmon with beans & rice. Not a fan of their version of sweet potatoes though (they use the less flavorful white sweet potato...if you're used to the regular orange sweet potato or yam, you might not enjoy it. Just an FYI). The plantains and meat pies were out of this world delicious!! Also, be sure to try a couple of their bottled sauces - hot sauce and their "Secret Sauce" are both made by Ziggels and taste excellent! Came here based off a review I caught on social media. There was a small parking area in the back of the business. Inside, there's a seating area if you want to eat there with a TV etc. Ordered an oxtail meal, and jerk chicken meal. I caught hints of cinnamon in the oxtail and thought my taste buds were off so tasted a piece of the jerk chicken and the same thing. Decided to clean my pallet with some water and go back in the oxtail but again, same taste. It just through me off entirely. The rice and plantains were OK. But my meals, disappointed me. As we walked up, great music playing, smells were amazing, and as we entered we were greeted with a warm welcome. The food was SPECTACULAR! Only got 4 stars due to limited parking. Food was so flavorful. I had the curried chicken with cabbage and cornbread. I rarely finish an entree but I ate everything on my plate. My husband had jerk chicken with rice and beans that he really liked. Both of us had a tasty and moist cornbread. read more

I went to Ziggels with my mother in law for the first time this evening. My in-laws order here every week or so. I have a Caribbean background, so I am always skeptical of Caribbean restaurants. The staff of this restaurant were probably some of the nicest I've ever encountered at a Caribbean restaurant. My only issue is that they were out of oxtail, but it was close to closing time, and I guess it's a popular item. They had a lot of authentic drinks in the fridge but no Ting. I got a sorrel drink and a Jamaican pineapple soda for my husband. Our order was - 2 burgers for my kids. -Oxtail which they were out of but substituted the short ribs, which was very good - Curry chicken was amazing. Well seasoned and a lot of meat. The rice and beans under the chicken was delicious as well. - Jerk chicken was very good. We happened to get all white meat, which is apparently not typical according to my inlaws, but it's very good. They asked me if we wanted it spicy and we said yes and while it was spiced, I wouldn't call it spicy. Maybe American palate spicy. - Mac and cheese. It was very creamy and cheesy, great flavor. The meat was very greasy which transferred to the rice via the meat gravy. 3. Ordering via website was impossible because there is no way to specify which sides you want with your platter. hello ! Listen definitely try this place out. Give up the bad pizza and mediocre chinese for some good soul food home style cooking. Food is delicious, but I found bones in my stew chicken. This is because they bought whole chickens and cut them up, so tiny bones end up in the food even after they wash the chicken. bones you can choke on; so please use BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST meat in your chicken dishes! Americans will eat more at your restaurant and no one will sue you for choking on bones in the food. That is my best advice. Keep cooking because the food is very yummy. Cut out the MSG too in the seasonings and you can claim that on your menus! Everyone trying to eat healthier these days. Best of luck in this tough industry sister! read more
