I have been meaning to review for a while...it's only taken 4 years!! Aunt Ellen's Water store is a GEM! Before moving to the area we were a loyal customer of The Water Lady Water Store first in Hillcrest then in North Park. I wasn't sure we could find a water store that would compare and I was delighted to find Aunt Ellen's Water. They sell both purified and alkaline water. Others have reviewed and said that the water has a "taste," I have never experienced that. Christopher is a ray of sunshine!! Every time I go in I get so much more than just water. He is a healer and so knowledgeable about spirituality and alternative treatments. I usually get alkaline water so I always make it a point to slow down, sit and have a chat with him....I always feel so much better after leaving the store. In addition to water, the store carries all kinds of interesting books, Himalayan Salt Lamps and wellness supplements. This little shop is a treasure in the area, support local and check it out!! read more

I usually go to a different water store but I've been hanging out in I.B. a lot more so I decided to try this water store. It's a little dirty in there and there isn't a container cleaner option. Most reverse osmosis water store's charge around .43c average for a gallon, it was .50c a gallon here, so it's a little on the high side. Owner was friendly enough, but the cleanliness and lack of a container cleaner are issues. Just tried the water and it still had a taste to it, unlike my usual water store. I personally have worked for him and on & off for months now and will happily be bringing his shop back to life I would definitely give this shop a try, the water is the best you can find around! Ok, this is a really weird one. Which says a lot cuz I'm a weird guy. But I do have common sense, I have a heart somewhere in there and that's why I'm not giving a one star review. The old guy is really nice. Really nice. BUT... he has singlehandedly forced me to go to another place to source my water. In fact, he gave me the exact coordinates and name of the place! And here's how that came about.... First time I went in to get water, it was ok, the lady there was nice and she sold me a couple bottles. I learned later they were actually way overpriced by A LOT. OK, whatever, I didn't even hold that against em, I was in a pinch and not paying attention. This is kinda where this bizarre story starts... So, turns out she didn't have one of the halves of the velcro that makes velcro work so you can stick the cap to the bottle while its being used. So I said no problem, my wife has velcro at home. This turned out to be what would eventually turn me away from them. Weird reason huh? Well... I'm not there yet and that's only half of it... The next time I came in... and the time after that... and the time after that... and then... what WILL BE and IS NOW the final time I will ever step foot in this place... EVERY ONE of those times the old man would say "oh.... so I see you go to the other water guy down the street huh? He uses that black velcro you got there on these bottles" Having that not been the case and having spent waaaaaay too much on water bottles from HIS STORE, the first time I politely explained "no, you were out of the velcro halves the day I bought my bottles so my wife put on this other black velcro to keep these caps on". He goes "oh.... cuz the guy down the street has the same ones". The other guy he's referring to is a competitor. I'm like... ok, I don't care. I just wanna buy water and go home.... the first time. The 2nd, 3rd times I was like wtf is this dude's deal? 4th and 5th times I had predicted what was going to happen and he delivered. Like clockwork. Call it being chummy, call it good ol' IB lifers doing their thing... I call it incessant and annoying. So this happened FIVE TIMES. OK, now a little about me... I have a short temper, I'm impatient but again I have a heart... so I let this guy scold me 5 fucking times before I finally, on the 5th time he does this (and I had learned to come to EXPECT this every single time I walk in there) point blank say to him "you know we've done this 5 times now? Every time I come here you accuse me of going somewhere else to get water and I have to explain to you every single time that's not the case." he says.. again... for the FIFTH TIME.. "oh... the guy down the street has the same velcro". So I felt no other choice but to finally say... "oh yeah? Where is this place?" He tells me exactly where... "down the street..." and motions to the approximate area" I say "over that way?" and point to the ocean... "What's the street?" I ask... he tells me. I ask what's the name of the place... he says "IB Clear Water". And that's how Aunt Ellen's lost my business and gained IB Clear Water a new customer. By an old man who can't just let me come in and get water. He had to bug me each time for something I didn't do. He ran to the door when he saw me parking in their parking spot out front to make sure I was coming in there which made me feel like i had to hurry and show him my bottles (ok that one's on me, again I'm somewhat self-conscious at times, impatient and have learned to expect the worst from people) and then got the dreaded and now fatally repetitious "oh... so you went to the other guy huh?" No. For literally the fifth... fucking... time... no I didn't go to "the other guy". But you can bet that now I definitely will. IB Clear Water, you just earned yourself a new customer and you have nobody but the nice but super nosy old man at Aunt Ellen's to thank. I should also mention that there's bizarre and incredibly dusty hippy dippy stuff strewn about the place. They can't decide if they're a self-help spiritual wellness center, a gem and stone shop, a book store, a water store... hell, I'm pretty sure the old man thinks he works at IB Water at this point because now he's literally sending customers there. I'll go ahead and leave out the awesome time he ripped off the cap of my primo bottle instead of just pointing the nozzle in the hole. He did this to try to sell me one of their punch through caps that works with primo machines. I didn't even have a chance to say no I'm not interested. He just went and did it. Rendering my primo bottle ruined and is now a pain in the ass I wish nothing but the best for em, I can tell they're nice enough people. But holy shit. Wtf was that all about? How I let it get to 5 times, I just don't know. I think cuz they do seem like nice people and I didn't have the heart to bail. But after the last time I can't help it. I'm done. Just leave customers alone, old dude.This is what happens. Sorry. But not really. read more

Let me just start off by saying finding an authentic and honest person is hard enough in this work we live in, but finding that sort of person with an amazing mind and kind soul who owns a business that he takes pride and care in is really something else. Christopher is so welcoming and knowledgeable not only with water but with our bodies, how we treat them and how we can properly care for them. Whether with supplements, having your water at the right Ph balance or even tarot cards and great reads as well! Finding him in IB was such a gem and I wouldn't go anywhere else in San Diego for water. :) read more

Great place for alkaline water! The owner is very knowledgeable about healing as well :) As for the issue of no cleaner.... acidic water is a great natural cleaner and is always available to clean the bottles! read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE... Chris is the owner and local guru of all things alternative! I admit it's $.50 per gallon and yes you can get $.25 per gallon from one of those mystery machines you see by the grocery stores but do you really know how long the water has been in there? I don't think so. I moved from IB a little over 10 years ago and still drive from Eastlake to get water from Chris every week! I have cheated on Chris and gone to another water store off of Broadway in CV 2 years ago but after having Chris's water anything else tastes like it's coming from a warm water hose from the side of your house. I always tell everybody it's my hippie water because he not only filters it in a special way he gives it good vibrations and I feel better when I drink it.... Honestly, if you drink a little or a lot of water you will taste the difference and you will love Chris. He sells all sorts of things other than water. He sells stands, small and large water bottles, candles, special salt, books, you name it and I always seem to come on days when he's messaging feet or realigning someones chakra but whenever I go the water and experience is always worth the price and travel. read more

I've been going to OB Water Store for a year. Decided to try Aunt Ellen's on the fly because it's much closer to my house. This water is NOT purified, the store is not clean, and there isn't a bottle rinse. On top of all that, the price per gallon is .75 vs the .50 the area competition charges. Purified water is not supposed to have an odor or a flavor. This is poorly filtered, overpriced tap water at best. Such a disappointment. read more

I recently moved to Imperial Beach. I'm a nutritionist and have been studying water and its effects on our body for years. Before I moved here I was having spring water delivered to my house weekly, have been for years. When I discovered Aunt Ellen's I was so happy. He not only has the best water around, but also he has the alkaline water so popular today for creating better health. I like to drink strong black tea from India in the morning and it is acidic so I have started using his alkaline water and it is fabulous. The taste of my morning tea is wonderful and it does not contribute to making me acidic. And we all know that being acidic inside your body is a health risk. I'm so thankful for this really healthy water and for the owner, Christopher, for caring so much about people that he goes to great lengths to provide the best water around. This is a great water store and ironically enough I look forward to making the trip every week. The staff is wonderful and very friendly. I also appreciate their selection of water jug sizes. I prefer a 4 gallon jug as opposed to the just-to-big and heavy 5 gallon. They also sell 1/2 gal, 1, 2, 3, & 5. Some have nozzles built in, too. Convenient for the purpose and customer. Water is double the price of a vending machine, but 50 cents per gallon is a fair trade all things considered. read more

Christopher is a super nice guy. Bottle cleaning station, many taps, and only $0.50 a gallon for purified water. Very convenient location. He makes you feel like family. read more
