Cadillac decaf coffee, i've never really felt passionately about decaffeinated coffee until I…read morevisited Heidelberg. I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. The refills were free and we sat at the little counter like we were at a diner and enjoyed everything about this iconic little bakery. The decor is a eclectic. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime. We ended up spending an hour and a half in a beautiful little place that we thought we were just going to stop and grab desserts to go.

We usually pop in to grab items from the grocery or to pick up things from the pastry case. Today we had lunch here too! Service was friendly and quick. We came in right before a big rush (around noon on Saturday). Highly recommend!

I love the absolute fuck out of their pretzels. I love pretzels baseline so I do feel qualified to…read morehave an opinion about them. I've had the Pennsylvania ones, the Germany ones, the homemade ones and literally nothing compares to Ben's. Having said that, this place was a bit disorganized. They didn't have probably half of the menu which wasn't big to begin with. I got the most basic shit: a pretzel with the only 2 sauces they had regular mustard and nacho cheese. Then I got one more pretzel bc why not? The pretzels were still better than sex. I immediately regretted not getting 7 pretzels.

I recommend you stop by, if for nothing else, you'll get a kick out of how a business stays in…read morebusiness when it represents itself to the public in perhaps the worst way ever. I approached the counter to find two employees leaning on the countertop who couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge my existence. When I finally tried to order, I was met with a blunt 'you can't have that, it's not available,' followed by a dismissive 'Is that it?' as the only other words spoken. If you don't want to work a morning shift, don't take a job that serves breakfast at an airport. While the sandwich itself wasn't terrible, the absolute lack of professionalism and basic courtesy ensures I'll never return. A perfect example of a business succeeding in spite of its best efforts to fail at service.

There were about 2/3 tables full, which is good for a Sunday. Our server Jason was friendly and good about keeping track of all our requests. They have mocktails! I got the Blushing Sangria. It was delicious and nicely fruity and not too sweet. I've never drank before, but my boyfriend said it tasted like the original kind. They have a pretty extensive beer list here, and many of them are local choices. For appetizer, we got the couscous Mac and cheese balls. These are pretty close in nature to arancini, but with more cheese. My main course was their weekend dinner special, with prime rib accompanied by white cheddar mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. The prime rib was absolutely amazing, nice and tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were also great and are a very smooth consistency. For dessert, of course we had to get a pizookie! The triple chocolate delivers on its name. Served hot, it is well worth the wait after two courses of deliciousness. They have TVs around the bar area that have sports on. At the time, basketball and nascar had the most coverage. I wish they had the closed captioning on, since that makes it easier to tell what goes on if you're not right at the bar. The bathroom is kept clean there. My boyfriend and I are sure to come back on the weekday special going on, with select entrees and pizookies for $13 - what a deal! Hopefully this is sooner rather than later!
