I've been here in all of its…read moreiterations: I've been to Katie's Pretzels when it was downstairs in the Piedmont Mall, where the now Dunham's Sports is. It was Katie's, and then Katie's moved upstairs, which granted that space available for Boscov's to move in and take reign of the Piedmont Mall once and for all. Until its eventual downfall in 2012. I guess it heard the end of the world was coming and decided to get on out before the going got tuff. Anyway, Dunham's doesn't really do it for me as pretzel joint. I've been to Katie's Pretzels when it moved upstairs into a little space on the corner across from Belk: my favorite location of them all in the Piedmont Mall. Here is where Katie's Pretzels really came into their own. I mean - WHAAT a location!! This ensured I would visit a part of the Piedmont Mall I would never have traversed otherwise. What even IS Belk ?! But all of the wonders of Katie's Pretzels could not have prepared me for what they would enact - and rightfully deserve - next: a name change. Monk's. Monk's Pretzels is a step into nirvana. Babylon. Pure, unadulterated bliss. A name change in conjunction with the name change of the Piedmont Mall to the Danville Mall. This is pure power, folks. This is as fine as it gets. Visit this place at once. 5 stars. Favorite item: orangeade. Medium please!

They also often have other baked goods for sale that are delicious as well. There is no seating inside or outside, but the counter service is great. This was fine for my needs, and indeed I like places with a narrow focus, but it might come as a surprise to some. The space was minimal. I was a bit surprised to see bagels packed in threes; I was expecting to be able to pick them out by flavor one at a time. I was also a bit surprised that the cinnamon rolls their website promised didn't seem to be there, though a few other intriguing baked goods were on sale. Ultimately, I took some mouthwatering rosemary and sundried tomato bagels along with some plain ones for comparison, as well as a chocolate babka cake. The bagels had that bit of sourness that makes them worthwhile, and a nice bit of browning. The babka cake, which I worried would not have enough chocolate, delivered satisfaction on a per-bite basis. What I wanted out of my baked goods is pretty much what i got.

Mrs liked a few of the tastings like the raz, I liked the lemon. We shared some loaded fries, cleaned that plate! Shared brisket and ribs, the brisket was 10/10 amazing. Our daughter had the Mac n cheese, she loved it we all loved it. Also shared the beans which were possible my favorite! The beans had a nice chonky chunk of brisket swimming in the middle for 2.99! Our service was very very fast we didn't wait at all, I think we were enjoying our meal maybe 5 mins after we sat down? That's amazing by itself. We will be back an recommending to friends. We ordered a beer and decided on some food. About 25-30 minutes passed when we asked about our food. Someone brought it over and all of the food was luke warm. It was most likely sitting for a while. It's bbq. The ribs and brisket were smoked earlier and the beans and mac n cheese already cooked. A reheat should take 5 minutes. The food tasted good but would have been great hot. The beer was good. I wish the service was better.
