LOVE THIS PLACE. It is a little under 2 hours away from where we live but well worth the drive every time. The food is authentic and delicious. The service incredible and well educated when it comes to this cuisine. The ambiance takes you to Germany.

Edelweiss was excellent! Quaint & authentic German restaurant. Upon entry, I was greeted by the polka being played by a live accordion player entertaining for the evening . I had a lentil soup as a starter. For my entree, I had the Jagerschnitzel, which was topped with a mushroom & onion gravy & was perfectly prepared. Dinner was served family style with spaetzle, sauerkraut, red cabbage & green beans. My service was splendid & my server's accent suggested a Bavarian heritage. The Black Forest cake & coffee made for a fantastic finish. Highly recommend if you're in or around Staunton, Virginia.

We stopped for lunch and it was wonderful :) I got the goulash but I tried several of the entrees. We enjoyed the variety and the food was very good. We liked the cake too. Service was good and ambience was very cozy, warm inviting. It was a cute lodge with a homey feel to it.

1/2 order Rahmschnitzel with family style sides

Driving home to the Midwest from North Carolina and stopped in Staunton, VA for the night. Chose Edelweiss for dinner. It was NOT disappointing! Matched the reviews exactly! Cute log cabin restaurant with 4 tables on the front porch and a quaint log cabin interior. A polka band was playing behind the hostess station. They were quite good. Dining room is smaller than expected with maybe 20 tables. I think there were fewer. Cute homey tablecloths on each table. Most of the tables were filled and I think ours was the only out of state license plate in the lot. The band played happy birthday twice...each time in English then in German. Birthday celebrations and localism license plates indicated this is probably a local fave. Waited a bit for first service but I think there were maybe 2 people waiting the entire dining room. We weren't in a hurry and after 7 hours on the road, appreciated a slower pace. Menu was typical German fare...lots os schnitzels. We chose to share the Rahmschnitzel since we just can't eat much anymore. Pork with a cream mushroom sauce. Dinners served with family style sweet/sout red cabbage, fennel green cabbage, green beans and spaetzle. Two fluffy dinner rolls came out first. They were quite hot and delicious. There was a $2 up charge to share but it was well worth the cost as there was too much in one serving for us to eat! We managed to down the pork and spatzle and most of the red cabbage and green beans. The green cabbage was delicious too but there was so much food we couldn't finish it all. Took a black forest cake slice back to the hotel for later. If you're heading through Staunton on I64/I81, plan a stop at Edelweiss! Well worth your time and money!!!

Edelweiss lived up to my (very high) expectations! I had been wanting to check them out for several years and finally made the trek out to Staunton recently. We were seated downstairs in the cabin tucked into a corner. Our server was prompt, friendly, and helpful with recommendations. I ordered the wienerschnitzel, which came with spaetzle, green beans, and two types of cabbage. I'm not sure what the juice was on the side of the plate, but it complemented the dish well. I managed to finish my whole schnitzel, which was pretty wild. It was soo good. We also ordered strawberry rhubarb cake for dessert. It was pretty good but I'd be more interested in their black forest cake next visit. Not to mention, they sell birch beer here! Such a fun, unexpected, and deeply nostalgic delight. I overheard them talking about turning the gazebo into a gingerbread house for the holidays, and I hope they do. That'd be super cute.

A placemat and one from their fine selection of imported beer

We had the good fortune to be passing Edelweiss again today... incredibly delicious food served amazingly fast. Stopping here whenever possible has continued to work out fabulously.

Come hungry and order 1 of everything. The hostesses are so helpful and kind. We sat on the porch with our 2 schnauzer. Very fun and quaint location.

Although restaurant was busy we were seated immediately. Our server took our drinks and food order and I think we got our food order in less than 10 minutes. Everything was piping hot and perfectly prepared. Restaurant was lavishly decorated for Christmas. Band with William Hayes, one of the best accordion players in the area was cooking! Unfortunately we were seated behind the band so I couldn't watch them. We enjoyed our meal so much we are returning next week to treat friends.

Food was excellent and authentic tasting. We ordered 2 Schnitzel plates and came with sides and bread. One of my all time favorites, ambience, flavors and friendly staff were all amazing! I will always stop here when I'm in the area

Reunion has been a breath of fresh air - really good espresso drinks, pastries, and breads. To be 100% honest, Crucible's coffee is better, but their pastry selection is minuscule and they can feel a bit stuffy. Reunion's pastries are good, though I wish they had more French-inspired things like pain au chocolat, croissants, or even soft cinnamon rolls, but I feel they excel more at the breads side of baking. I got a mini sourdough loaf once and it was excellent! Service is always friendly and happy, and the shop itself is cute, but there isn't much space inside. I'm all for tables outside, but there's not much real estate there either, especially on a busy morning. I think a small adjustment to flow could make it easily sit a couple cafe tables inside without it feeling so crowded. I just miss the days of being able to hang out and have good coffee and snacks while doing some work on a laptop. Seems like most businesses would rather have you out the door instead. I have high standards for bakeries and cafes, and Reunion meets most of them. They're now my favorite place to go in the mornings in Staunton... if they're open. I would go there much more often if I could actually eat my breakfast there instead of having to get back in my car or sit in the blistering summer heat.

But a customer inside kindly came out and said they were leaving, offering us their inside table. (There's also the beer garden outside in the back for seating, which looks like it would be nice and comfortable.) I got an everything bagel with hummus and tomato. My partner got everything bagel, scallion cream cheese, tomato ($0.85 for tomato) and lox ($6 for the lox). Although everything tasted good, we both noticed that the bagels were really, really dense, tough and chewy. Like uncomfortably tough and chewy. My partner left one half of their bagel uneaten and I didn't finish mine. It looked great and the hummus and cream cheese and other toppings were fine, but the bagel was really, really tough. I'd like to believe that it isn't because the bagels were stale, but the thought crossed my mind. The coffee I had (dark brew) was outstanding, served in a nice, large mug. Excellent! Service was efficient. I considered a four-star review because the coffee was outstanding, but the bagels were really disappointing. It's too bad. It looks like a cool place, but their main food item appears to be bagels. Maybe it was a one-off, but I spent over $26 for two bagels and one coffee, and I don't plan to come back to find out.
