I booked my appointment with her at least a month in advance and was extremely pleased with my experience. She listened to exactly what I wanted and told me what levels of blonde were achievable for my hair. She was easy to converse with and was extremely personable. I shared with Stephanie that other previous stylists have taken at least 8-12+ hours to work on my hair during previous appointments (Because previous stylists have worked on multiple clients at the same time as my appointment). Before my appointment, I did let her know how hard sitting for long hours is tough on my chronic back pain. Stephanie mentioned I would be in the chair for at least 6 hours, and as promised, I was in the chair for that long with no other clients being worked on during my appointment. It's important for me to not only have a stylist who can provide great service, but to also have a stylist whose primary focus is me (For example, I've had other stylists leave me in the chair for hours, not even checking on my foils). She was every bit of attentive and I appreciate this so much more than she knows. Stephanie shared that she typically only sees 1-3 clients each day as she wants to be attentive to each client she works on. I know I will be coming back again as it's important for me to feel prioritized during my appointment, instead of me sitting in the chair for hours. The customer comes first. In the past, I have had my hair done as early as 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday and as late as 7:00 pm on a Sunday. I have long thick, thick hair. My husband says I have "lion head" when I don't straighten it. Jennie did a Yuko treatment to straighten my hair and get the friz out. Amazing what it has done for me. I can blow dry it and wear it as is or straighten it in half the time as before. I LOVE IT! Her salon has great "stuff" too. I got a haircut/shampoo a while ago back when CSULB was open, and it was great, but the service was…read moreuh, something else. I just wanted a shampoo and cut, and as the lady cut my hair, she kept bringing up how damaged it was. I knew it was damaged which is why I came for a cut, but it's not something people enjoy hearing as they get a haircut. Her and the other lady wouldn't stop talking about it, and then they began speaking in another language. If I learned anything from the nail salons, it's that they're probably shit-talking. She ended up blow drying and styling and in my head I'm like "hm I didn't ask for this". Sure enough I ended up getting charged for the blow drying and styling ($6 more than I thought). I wasn't too upset because my hair looked and felt BOMB, but I was just gonna do all that at home. Sneaky, shady move if you ask me. So I paid in cash, slightly more than the total, and wasn't given change back. I always tip hairdressers, but I don't think it's right to keep the change unless the client said it was ok, especially after adding services they didn't ask for. It's affordable and they do a great job, but they're shady and don't make the client feel good at all. I'd stay away unless you don't care about customer service and just need a cut. But call them out if they try to give you services you didn't ask for!
