This shop is upstairs in a strip center. It is small and quaint. Beyond clean! They offer so many candy choices. It was super hard to choose from. They have unique flavors and gorgeous choices. This is such a beautiful experience at Aurora chocolate, listening and learning how the Taiwanese lady who inspires by the pole light and hand-made all these beautiful chocolates. Picking the chocolates is fun too, because all the chocolates have unique flavors. I picked a box of varieties, and wow! They are all amazing. Very distinguished flavor! This is artisan chocolate vs. candy - and will be reflected in both the taste experience price. :) Go to the shop on the south side of town (2nd floor), or watch for a limited selection around town. (They were at the Captains Cook hotel years ago, but I'm not sure if they're still offered there.) These chocolates also make great gifts, as they are exquisitely painted. You will not find fine high end chocolates than Aurora chocolates. I've traveled the world and been on every continent other than Antarctica. Their chocolates rival anything you can find in NYC, LA, Paris, London etc. You don't need to eat more than one, maybe two (because you want to try a different flavor), in one sitting. O-M-Goodness! The chocolates and treats here were fantabulous. The Dimond location is rather unassuming at first glance, located atop a building with a vacant downstairs (I haven't been to the Cap. Cook location yet). We were treated to a sampling platter upon entry (heck yes!) and that cinched for us. We splurged on a box full of bon bons, each one a decadent morsel of chocolatey goodness. The customer service was also very generous. The ladies working were more than happy to talk about what went into their products, and also were enthusiastic to answer any questions we might have. Hard to find a chocolate shop of this caliber anywhere, let alone in Alaska. I'd recommend coming and splurging in the divine. read more

This is one of the best secret places in Anchorage! I can not believe there is a chocolate shop of this quality in the city because it should be located in Beverly Hills. I live in Los Angeles and even so chocolates of this caliber are hard to come by. So much time is put ibto each individual piece and the flavors are so unique that you will savor each and every bite! I've had chocolates from here a couple times now and they are not only beautiful to look at they are delicious to eat. My husband has gotten some for me both for Christmas and for Valentines Day (I think twice now) and I have gone in there once with him. We have only been to the main location on Dimond but the service is wonderful. If it's your first time in there they will give you samples of the chocolates to try. The quality of their ingredients is top notch and the chocolates are so delicious. I love this place! read more

This small shop inside of the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage Alaska was a new addition for us on this trip. Being new we had never seen it on oir previous visits. Normally hotel retail stores seem to just be there for effect and less for quality goods and services. They also tend to be overpriced and have poor selections. The Sweet Chalet on the other hand is everything you would expect to find on some Soho street corner. It has an extensive eclectic collection of beautiful and exquisitely made chocolates. The presentation is there and most importantly incredible flavor and mouth feel. Smooth and balanced. The price is exactly what you would expect to pay for that high of quality. I bought the 9 count Bon Bon as a Christmas present for my Mom in Colorado Springs, I had no idea which kinds to get, but the lady there was so patient and friendly I felt no pressure to hurry and make a decision. She had lots of ideas to help me decide and my Mom Loved them and said she would order more since I sent her their business card. Staff was so friendly and inviting- asked if it was our first time there (it was) and if we wanted to taste testing/sampling (YES!!). So delicious, LOVE the designs on the chocolates- whoever makes them is magical. The chocolate pop rocks were awesome too. Bought more than I intended (can't really help that after you sample a few and just want more) and ended up taking a few home for my mom. My mother worked next to their shop, and got me and my brothers Easter eggs from them. The best way I manage to describe their chocolate is that the Easter egg tasted like Springtime. The flavor had transended being just good, but entered the realm of conveying emotions and simple thoughts about the rebirth that occurs during the springtime. The joy and wonder of springtime welled up inside of my chest, my depression that consumed me from winter momentarily dispelled, and a danced around my living room at the behest of this emotion. Visited the Swiss Chalet today after spending 10 days in Alaska. The shop on Dimond St is unassuming and a little difficult to find. Once there, we were met with very friendly service, a free tasting session and information about how the Aurora truffles are made. Can't recommend this store enough. Where do I even start? Ingrid's chocolates are works of ART that truly taste as good as they look (add homemade and handmade? Yes please!). My favorites are the balsamic-cherry and salted caramel but there are many more exotic flavors as well. What I assumed were chocolate-topped rice krispy bites turned out to be heavenly chocolate-nut paste-crisp squares. The packaging options really finish off the presentation and I gave several assortments out as Christmas gifts this last year. Now I see she has caramels too? Count me in! read more
