Also, don't be fooled by the one or two scoop price or portions, they are MASSIVE scoops. My 7 year old ate half of his two scoops and was full, and I was full after eating the other half. My 5 year old ate only half of the one scoop. They can also mix and match flavors for each scoop. We opted for the vanilla and strawberry flavors, which were amazing. The owner/server was very friendly, happily offering as many samples as required and explaining the process of how it is all made. We got the Thai tea and cookies & cream to share. They were both excellent but my personal fav was the Thai tea - flavors were spot on and it had an amazing creamy texture. I'm constantly surprised by how much Alaskans like ice cream. It's...it's already cold up here so often? Even in the summers, it's pretty damn "cool" in the shade? Compared to our other major ice cream maker, this spot has a much more of a "mom n' pop" feel and much less of a "hip/trendy" feel. There are no sorbets or vegan ice creams or anything like that. A good portion of their ice cream is made with honey. The best feature here: the prices are INCREDIBLE. If you just want to taste some ice cream, you can get out of here for well under $5 which...in this economy, is a miracle! I got one such "kid scoop". I am lactose intolerant (thought not deathly so, I can still eat cheese...FYI....cheese has about 100X less lactose than milk or ice cream) so I can't eat ice cream without much pain and suffering later. I asked them if they had any ice cream made without milk and they said "all our icecream is lactose free". I know there is a way to add lactase enzyme to lactose products to make them effectively digestible by most lactose intolerant people but...that seems like a big ask for a local ice cream shop? I was skeptical of this claim as I don't see it anywhere on the website nor in any of the other reviews. I got the smallest possible scoop of cookies 'n cream and...I didn't have intense gut rot and malaise later so...I guess it really is lactose free? They should put this somewhere on their website or prominently in their store. I think a lot of lactase-lacking people would really appreciate it and they'd probably get a ton of business! I was going to give them 4-stars, but they I remembered they are open LATE (till 10:30pm on Friday), so that gets them another star in my book. The ice cream was amazing!! They had flavors such as cappuccino, butter scotch pecan, hint o mint, and cookies and cream. One scoop costs $4.00, two scoops costs $6.00, and a punt costs $9.00. Each scoop is about the size of a baseball (per the employee) and the prices were very reasonable for the sizes. You are able to try any of the flavors before hand and the employee gave an explanation about each flavor. There is plenty of parking in front of the building and the customer service is great. They have a stamp card, where you get 1 punch per visit, so I would recommend separating your orders, so that you get more punches in your stamp card. Once you get all of your stamps, you get 2 free scoops of ice cream. read more

Never had an ice cream place be in my weekly rotation. Now I do. I'm OBSESSED with WooHoo! This is Anchorage's best kept secret. FLAVORS: I got cappuccino and vanilla while my husband got maple butter pecan and strawberry. All were awesome. I was surprised at how much I liked his maple butter pecan because normally I don't like that flavor. There were real chunks of pecan and you could taste the maple syrup. I'll probably get that and vanilla next time. The portions are huge. Double scoop (2 baseball sized scoops) is only $6. The ice cream is made in small batches and sweetened with honey. Eh, the flavors here weren't for me. We got Earl Grey, Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Strawberry, and Cappuccino. The best were definitely Strawberry and Cappuccino. The Chocolate had a strong cocoa powder taste, Cookies and Cream did not taste like your typical Cookies & Cream.... Earl Grey was unique and decent but it had an odd texture to me. My husband and daughter got cones and they had a cinnamon flavor to them so if you're not a cinnamon fan beware of this, it was a surprise to us.
