Dr Perkinson had been referred to me for an extraction by my endodontist. As I am prone to panic attacks, I came to the office yesterday with considerable anticipatory anxiety and a lack of sleep. The location was easy to reach and plenty of close to the building parking. Everything was clean and looked to be state of the art. Within minutes of consulting with Dr. Perkinson, I was able to calm down. He took my specific concerns into consideration and his assistant was especially helpful. The procedure literally took minutes and was completely painless. Dr Perkinson is a skilled practitioner. He and his assistant kept me informed and reassured. Their efforts to ease my fear are appreciated beyond words. He followed up with a call to me last night and I can report that my recovery has been so easy. read more

Dr. Perkinson is a nice, capable, oral surgeon. They do need to train their front office staff on customer service. My 13 y/o son needed his wisdom tooth extracted and his molar "up-righted". Diana, the office staff called me the day before to explain that he needed to fast, etc. When we arrived, Diana made a big issue of having to pay the balance of the procedure IN FULL before the doctor was allowed to "see him", "touch him" or start the procedure. We dental insurance and the money, but we had health savings visa. I wanted to check the balance to make sure that I could put it all on the card. As I was calling for the balance, Diana was glaring at me over her over-sized black glasses as though I was a homeless person. My son was getting increasingly uneasy. After I paid the bill, and my son was out of earshot, I said that I would have preferred to have paid the balance when she called the day before or while my son was back with the doctor. Diana interrupted me and pointed her finger at me as though she was scolding me. She said that she tells everyone that the balance is needed IN FULL the day of the procedure. I tried to tell her that this should not be the focus when you have a nervous teenager. She raised her voice, and said, "This conversation is over!" Additionally, the procedure was over a month ago, and this $4,000 procedure has not been submitted to our medical insurance. We keep asking for this to be submitted for deductible purposes, and they keep saying that it is always done the day of the surgery. They keep blaming our insurance, but also state that they have no way to access proof that they EVER submitted this claim. It is obviously not a priority because we have good dental insurance and everything else was paid in full. It's very unfortunate that such a good doctor has such an unprofessional and incompetent support staff. :( read more

PLEASE READ. DO NOT GO HERE. After having my consultation I felt pretty good. Took 5 years to build up courage to get my wisdom teeth removed. I was told I would be given several minutes to relax on nitrous before hand as I have an extremely phobia of the dentist. (I get panic attacks during regular cleanings) I arrived 3 mins late due to traffic. After 30 seconds of being on nitrous they immediately went to put the IV in my arm. I asked to please stop so I could have more time to relax. They were upset I didn't take the IV right away so they turned the nitrous off and moved on. (I do understand they have a schedule to get through which in turn made me feel more upset for wasting time) The nurses did try their best to calm me down but it's very hard to with extreme phobias. After 15 mins the doctor came back in and I explained why I was getting so upset. During my consultation I was told one thing but during the actual appointment it was nothing like they had said. I am 21 but my mother was with me, they should have gotten her at this point. He said I was a liar and he never would let someone on nitrous for 15 mins. Which he did tell me I would get several minutes to relax on it..which didn't happen. I will admit fault that I was wrong for name calling, however panic attack (full blown hyperventilating, shaking, sweating) mixed with someone not willing to help = me feeling absolutely helpless and alone. He was being extremely rude and wasn't helpful in calming me down. They even told me my heart rate dropped and immediately picked back up when I was trying to explain things to him. Calling patients a liar and getting snotty with them is so unprofessional. Then he kicked me out and said "you can find someone else to deal with you." As I rush out, still panicking, my mother had no idea any of this was going on. The doctors claim to care about patients but they do NOT. I am a very cooperative person however, this is a phobia. Not a fear. We went here with expectations of them being well aware of anxiety & phobias but they only see it as you being over dramatic. I will never ever recommend this place and I hope for the sake of you well being, anyone reading this doesn't go there either. These people need to be more patient and educated on anxiety, PTSD, and panic attacks. I feel so traumatized and personally attacked all because I had a human response to something absolutely terrifying. read more

I was extremely happy with Dr Perkinson and his staff. I needed an extraction and he was very good at explaining what needed to be done as was his assistants. He has a great calming chair side manner. I honestly had zero pain and the procedure went very well. I highly recommend him. Front office staff was great also. read more

I was referred to Dr. Chae by my dentist because I was having significant pain with my lower wisdom tooth and was EXTREMELY nervous. The staff were incredible in getting me in that same day to be seen. Dr. Chae was great about explaining the entire process and answering any questions I had. I elected to be sedated because I am a big wimp... I'm also very claustrophobic and have a severe gag reflex. Dr. Chae was extremely smooth about starting the IV as I don't even recall feeling a pinch (definitely better than the nurses I've experienced in the past). 25 minutes later I was waking up with my wisdom tooth removed and very minimal discomfort! Dr. Chae called me later that evening to check in on me and to ensure I had picked up my prescriptions from the pharmacy. I thought that was the sweetest thing! There is no doubt in my mind that I feel he truly cared for me as if I was a close friend or family member. A genuine doctor with staff who were extremely nice and accommodating... Dr Perkinson and his team were hands down the best medical experience I've ever had. The compassion they exhibited for a woman with extreme needle phobia was a true blessing. I was a nervous wreck and they took me back and promptly started the iv so I didn't have to fret for long. Once the surgery was complete, I was recovered and my ride was provided detailed instructions on how to best care for my extraction site. Additionally, Dr. Perkinson himself called me to personally check on me that evening and provided his cell phone number should I have any issues. I refer all my friends abd family to this practice and every single one of them comes back with rave reviews. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Perkinson. He was very patient and kind to listen to my negative past experiences with extractions done elsewhere. He was reassuring and put me totally at ease. My husband and I recently lost our Dental insurance. The Dr and staff were able to work with us to make this an all around positive experience. I visited Dr. John M. Chae at Aurora Dental Specialties, Aurora, IL. I went for a consultation over work that had been done by a dentist and periodontist but I was not healing and in pain. Dr. Chae took his time to explain why I was experiencing this pain, gave me 3 prescriptions, and discussed the various options to me because the tooth needed to be extracted. He took his time to review all my records, explain in detail, even showed me videos to be certain I understood. I was IMPRESSED and would recommend him to anyone. read more

I had Dr. Perkinson as my surgeon for my wisdom teeth removal. During the consultation, he was professional and calmed me down a lot. Plus he was super friendly and funny. Before the surgery, I was super nervous, but he made me feel relaxed and his team explained what was going to happen before and during the procedure. He even called me the night following the procedure to check on me and see if I had any questions. He and his team gave excellent instructions for the post-op treatment and I was so happy about that! The facility was very nice, the staff was great, and I would totally recommend Dr. Perkinson to anybody that needs oral surgery!! read more

My daughter had a consultation scheduled with a different oral surgeon for wisdom teeth extraction but experienced pain before that appointment. The other surgeon could not or would not move up the appointment. After assessing her condition over the phone, Dr. Perkinson was able to see her that day, and discovered one tooth had developed an infection. He adjusted his schedule & was able to perform the surgery the next day. Dr. Perkinson & his staff are friendly & professional. I'm grateful that the surgery & needed antibiotics were provided before the situation became worse. He even personally called later that day to check on her condition & recovery. My daughter & I highly recommend Dr. Perkinson & his staff. read more

I saw Dr. Perkinson to get a wisdom tooth removed and to discuss surgical options regarding braces. He took the time to listen to all of my concerns and lay out options. His explanations were clear, objective, and knowledgeable and I felt like he was advocating for my best interests the entire time. Overall the surgery was a great experience and he even personally call to check on my that night. 11/10. there should be more people in the medical field like him. read more

I am 42 years old and all 4 of my wisdom teeth were fully erupted. It should go without saying that I haven't had any major issues with them in 20+ years...until now. The gums behind my lower right wisdom tooth became inflamed and very painful. My dentist gave me a shot of Novocaine and sent me on my way. I couldn't eat and could barely talk normally due to the pain. My mom remembered how excellent Dr Perkinson was in taking care of my dad a few years ago (when no other oral surgeon would help him due to my dad's health condition). I called the office and Vanessa was wonderful and so empathetic to my situation. She made gave my an appointment less than 2 days later to have my panoramic X-ray and surgery. All of the office staff were professional and kind. The whole process was so smooth and efficient. I can't say enough great things about Dr Perkinson! He was professional, knowledgeable and confident. I was completely comfortable right away (before the drugs)! We were even joking around right before my surgery- I didn't even feel him placing my IV! (Which I am scared to death of!) He called to check up on how I was doing that afternoon. I have had a wonderful recovery with no complications. They don't let you do payments on large surgery fees. I would have gave him 5 stars but they don't offer payment options . My husband had his wisdom teeth out in September . they said our portion after insurance is $1800. Keep in mind they don't run it after surgery and make you pay , they run it before surgery and make you pay before it's even been run through insurance as an actual claim. I asked if I can do half and half they said no. I asked if they have a billing department and I could sign something or give a post dated check for $1000 now and $800 next month - the girl on the phone said "no it's all due up front" was upset they didn't even let me talk to a biller . Their only option was carecredit which is a medical credit card- no thanks. So we paid 1800 up front. Now it's February 2020 and we get another bill 6months later saying you owe $350 still. Please tell me why we are getting a bill 6months later? It's called timely filing! While looking the bill over it says my husband got 4 teeth removed when he only got 3 removed. Opening a claim with my insurance over this since it's definitely incorrect. I work in insurance for a hospital and know how to read an EOB. I will upload pictures once my insurance company gets back to me. read more
