CAVEAT EMPTOR. In order to see Dr. Patino, you are REQUIRED to give them a debit card and REQUIRED to sign a contract saying you won't hold them liable if they overcharge. If you already gave them your debit card number, change it immediately. The office staff is lazy and hides behind texts and emails, especially when unexpected costs are due. Don't expect them to answer when you call or to return your call. They will make minimal effort to contact your insurance company (only one) and then TEXT you about massive minimal charges the day of the surgery. (Over $350, in my case.) The incompetent office staff don't even communicate with Dr. Patino, so if another doctor consents to surgery, via direct text to doctor, they will make you supply documentation, even though the duplicate documentation was already faxed to them. Read the other reviews (that are not written by office staff) if you have any doubts. You have a choice. read more

The doctor is kind and so far seems to know his stuff. The staff is kind but IMO really inefficient. There are at least 4 office staff yet they can not seem to answer the phone during normal business hours. But they seem to always be eating ... I have been here several times and the staff doesn't have any sense of urgency they seem to be hanging out. Btw , I am still sitting here an hour after my appointment time. Based on other reviews and other word of mouth sources, I will assume that Dr.Patino is a good oral surgeon but based on my consult appointment and the extreme difficulty I have experienced trying to reach the office to discuss billing issues prior to the surgery (wisdom teeth extractions), I cancelled my appointments. Initial contact: Left a message with their answering service, during open business hours, to schedule appointments. Received a call back within a week. Individual was nice and we scheduled. Consult: We arrived on time. All paperwork was completed before arrival. Wait to get into a room was about 15 minutes. Additional wait time for the doctor to arrive was over 45 minutes after scans were taken. Dr. Patino is very professional as he reviews his plan for the surgery. He shows us the scans with flashy equipment and we watch a video. Sales pitch on overdrive but we have heard good things so we will continue. Staff comes in after the doctor leaves, about 10 minutes later and gives me a small packet of information regarding the costs involved, insurance, etc. We quickly review it, only had a couple questions, they are answered and we leave. Will be back again for actual surgery. After appointment: I review the information packet again and I have a few questions regarding billing, insurance, and final costs that I will be responsible for. I call both my medical and dental insurance to get additional coverage information using the procedure codes provided. These weren't quick calls but I'm trying to answer my own questions. I have done everything I can on my end but I still want to know exactly how Dr. Patino handles a few items regarding non covered items and charges billed for a larger amount than their agreed upon amount with my insurance company. I call them at various "open" times over a 2-3 week period. I reach their answering service EVERY time. Hmm. At first I don't leave messages thinking that I will call again during the open hours that the answering service gives me. After a few additional calls and still only getting the answering service, I begin to leave messages. It wasn't until my third message was left, where I politely expressed that I was frustrated, did I finally get a TEXT back telling me to read the information I was given at the consult appointment. Hmmm. I am an educated person that has done what I can on my end to answer my question and you don't have the courtesy to call me back? Not good! I understand staffing issues may be a problem. I can understand that your time is valuable BUT mine is valuable also. I know you may have a very successful business and losing two clients is probably not a big deal but ...we cancelled. Of course, I had to leave a message with the answering service to cancel. I also texted the cancellation to the text message I received and I received an "appointments cancelled" message back. One would think there would be some follow up if they cared, but I guess not. They will move on to the next one. I hope this helps the next person. read more

Dr. Patino is an excellent oral surgeon. I highly recommend him. My son had all of his wisdom teeth removed on three separate occasions. All of the surgeries went well. Dr. Patino and his staff are very kind and attentive. He's concerned about your well being after surgery. He checks on his patients afterwards to see if they're progressing well. read more

We were referred to Dr Patino by my dentist. Both my husband and son had services, 2 separate experiences. I didn't like the staff when my husband went, but I thought I'd give it another chance with my son. I won't return, as much as I was impressed by Dr Patino, their back office staff is rude, could care less about retaining your business, and their financial policies are horrible. Even though I have insurance which clearly shows what I should be paying, when you sign their paperwork, you are effectively agreeing to pay their fees regardless of what your insurance coordination of benefits states. I went ahead with the services and paid their fees, but we won't be back. Take your money elsewhere. read more

While my son's oral surgery went well making me believe Dr. Patino is a good doctor, his staff is, at best, sub par. We are 4+ months out of surgery and the claim has yet to be filed with my insurance carrier. I was charged a deposit which is to be refunded after insurance is settled AND required to provide a credit card number for additional charges should there be any BEFORE any services would be performed. Since it is clearly not the policy of the office to not perform services without payment, I would expect claims to be filed in a timely fashion. Members of this staff have blatantly lied to me about the process of this claim over the last 4+ months and we still have no resolution. Good doctors reputations can be overshadowed by inept office staff. That's really a shame. read more

My consultation and wisdom tooth removal with Dr. Patino, about 3 years ago, was wonderful. He was very kind, everything went smoothly, and I recovered well. However, he had decided to only remove one wisdom tooth because he PROMISED me that the other three wisdom teeth would never surface. Now, here I am three years later, with an infected and surfacing wisdom tooth - which is currently causing me a lot of problems in terms of pain and trying to find an oral surgeon who will remove it on my insurance in Boston, MA. I don't doubt that Dr. P is a good doctor, but if you are reading this, please just get all 4 wisdom teeth removed at once. read more

Loved Dr. Patino! From the consultation to the post surgery, he was absolutely great. He was very thorough and explained what he was doing throughout the process of removing my one wisdom tooth. The staff was very calming which made me more calm prior to surgery. It was my first time being under anesthesia and I was extremely nervous. The process was so quick and easy. I didn't have any pain the day of surgery. I experienced some pain in my jaw about 7 days after surgery. After calling Dr. Patino's office and describing my symptoms, they had me come in. Dr. Patino listened to my symptoms and was able to diagnose the problem and give me medicine to alleviate my pain. I highly recommend Dr. Patino for all oral surgery needs! read more

Dr Patino appears to be a highly competent oral surgeon. However, his staff is basically useless. You can't even call the staff! When you call the office number during business hours you get the "answering service". They are apparently not allowed to transfer the call to the staff, and it doesn't matter if it is the medical staff or the billing people. You can leave your contact info and are told they they will call you back. EXCEPT THAT THEY DON'T! As of today I've called the office 3 times over the course of 2 days and have not been able to speak to anyone. Based on what we paid out of pocket for a procedure for my wife, and what the insurance paid (per their EOB which is dated over a month ago), we are entitled to a $500 refund. Have not heard a word about it from them. Do they figure that we won't notice? Do they expect me to drive over to the office to be able to talk to them? read more

Dr Patino is a good surgeon, but his office staff are horrible. They hound you to confirm your appointment 3 times, they want all money upfront. Dr. Patino is unwilling to work on payment plans for what insurance doesn't cover. Yes, it is a business, but you are dealing with human beings. He/they expected $1200 from me on day of surgery, even though because of my insurance I would only own $600. They are money driven. Very disappointed. read more

I have to revise my opinion on dr Patino. I ended up going to him regardless of how I felt for him initially. I knew he was a good doctor and he definitely knew his stuff. My son underwent a removal of a cyst in his lower lip. Dr Patino did a wonderful job and also left detailed after care instructions. He also personally called to check in my son weeks after surgery. This is as honest of an opinion I can give since I have seen both sides of the coin so to speak. read more

The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an initial appointment with Dr. Patino and he spoke with us about the removal of my sons wisdom teeth. He was also friendly and answered any questions I had. My son went in and the wisdom tooth removal was done in an efficient and timely manor. We received clear instructions on after care. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Patino and he did a fabulous job! His staff was even kind enough during the surgery to make sure I didn't feel the IV poke by using a cold compress right before. Not necessary but appreciated for sure. It was painless afterwards and his post op instructions were thorough. I had a complication from surgery a few days later and called the office, in which he had me come in right away to see him and gave me a packing to fix it. I got a referral to Dr. Patino from my dentist, and I called Patino's office to ask a question about making an appointment for a consulation. The website says "open Monday through Saturday", with no specifics on hours. I called at 2:45PM, and the phone was answered by a rude woman who would not answer any of my questions but just kept repeating "their offices open at 8AM on Monday, ask them then. I am just the answering service." What is the point of hiring someone to answer the phone just to tell you that the office is closed? When the website says it is OPEN? Maybe this is more a reflection on their answering service, but I'll leave the review here so perhaps Dr. Patino's office can take action. I will not be scheduling my appointment here. read more

I was a little hesitant at first reading some of these reviews. But we had a great experience with Dr Patino and the office staff. We ended up having to call him the same day because one of my sons gums just didn't want to stop bleeding. he was still in the office and told us to bring him in. patched him up and everything healed extremely quickly. we even got a check in the mail from over paying! I will point out what I have experienced first hand as one of his patients. The consultation was accurate and to the point. His staff was kind and respectful. All my questions were answered even the silly ones. Then I was sent to schedule the surgery date. All went smooth. The surgery date. I went calm once again his staffed was helpful. The wait time was around 15 minutes. I went in and signed a consent form to allow the doctor remove the wisdom teeth. Later in the operating room my vitals were taken and I noticed calming music which made me think of peaceful things. Then the doctor arrived and proceeded to start. What looked like a a short time was really a very short time. Surgery was done! Now the moment of truth!!! Pain was non existent. So I went home with gauze on the surgical areas and still did not feel pain. The morning after I felt slight discomfort, but nothing major. It has been 30 hours since surgery and still feeling fine now I'm about to eat pasta primavera. The only con I have about this whole deal was how hungry I was before surgery. Dr Patino and his Staff are Very Nice and Helping. They explained the whole process to me in very detailed manner and made myself very comfortable. Dr is friendly and Professional at the same time and has excellent bed side Manners. I had a severe case of Dry Socket and Dr helped me in Recovery very well. Extra charges. Don't go. Plus if you question the extra charges they get rude. Didn't like the doctor. Question him about why this is necessary and he harps on the fact that "I'm a surgeon" won't let you finish your sentence. Don't go. There are plenty of other doctors who are very good and don't charge sky high prices. read more

I won't be reviewing my experience with the office or surgeon because unfortunately was never able to schedule an appointment. I was referred to this surgeon because I needed my wisdom tooth removed as soon as possible. I tried to call the office a few times a day for 4 days and never got a hold of anyone. I also left a couple messages. Someone called me at 9am when I was at work. Called them 15 min later, couldn't get through. They didn't leave a voicemail and didn't try to call back again since then. It was extremely frustrating that I couldn't even speak to someone to schedule an appointment. So I called my dentist and they referred me to someone else. Dr Patino removed my wisdom teeth roughly 8 years ago, I can't recall any issues with my experience so I decided to send my daughter for hers - big mistake. Consultation went well and extraction was scheduled; upon arrival was asked to sign off putting credit card on file which made no sense because we were told our cost and I was prepared to pay in full . . .but pay in full to this office means you pay FULL price until insurance pays. Um, yeah, no. You see I don't have an actual credit card, only my debit card and my flex spending card [with enough to cover our cost for extraction] so that wasn't an option; the office told us what we were expected to pay and we were ready with that. The receptionist said she would speak to billing and left us waiting for 15 minutes, at which time Dr Patino himself joined us. Dr Patino spoke in a condescending manner and refused to allow me to ask questions; when he was finished I called him out for speaking to me like I was beneath him and his response was to tell me he would not be taking care of my daughter. I was never more happy to walk out of an office and take my business elsewhere. Dr Patino and his holier-than-thou complex is way more than anyone should have to deal with. read more
