Most of our hiking was on a rock path in sunlight (yes, I enjoyed myself) it's a Nice area to enjoy the day but not the very wooded area I was hoping. If I'm going to a forest I want to be immersed in trees. There was a historic barn and house which wasn't tour able but a photo op. There were other trails we did not embark but from the road view it seemed the other trails were also not in the woods.

How dare you have people wait for your slow behinds!! it was extremely hot and very inconveniencing to your patrons. And to make matters worse we didn't even get offered a discount for our inconvenience!! If offered a discount it would have at Least showed you had some professionalism but alas you didn't. Had you shown just an ounce of professionalism I would have possibly considered giving you another try. I wouldn't recommend Whalon Lake Kayak rental to my dog. Parking can be a hit or miss and there's plenty of construction happening. Great area dedicated to our veterans on the north side of the park. I say the con of the park is the port o potty. You need a flash light to get in there and it's not clean at all so be forewarned.

You are come right up the Fox River and there is a rocky area where kayaks were constantly coming and going. I brought the kids over there to find seashells and skip rocks. There were a lot of people walking their dogs - some dogs were going for a swim! There are a lot of mature trees so there is plenty of shade. I will try to come to this park more often!

You can never be too careful. Although this park is located in what many people would consider to be the "middle of nowhere", it's really not to those that live on the west side of STC. The park is a wide open space, and is visible from both Crane and Bolcum. In addition to the peaceful atmosphere of the park, there is a good amount of parking, playgrounds, and some ball fields. It's a great place to do an outdoor workout or meditate, as when I frequent the park I'm usually the only person there so I don't have to worry about looking like a jackass doing exercises. I mean, the people from the street don't get that good of a view so I'm not worried about being busted out. As always, please clean up after yourself! This is a very well-maintained forest preserve and Plainfield Park District cares a lot about maintaining the area. The ONLY downside is that I can't visit here from about June until early August because the mosquitos are plentiful, which is to be expected in a rather damp forest. I've seen owls, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks and deer here.
