Across from Guieb, I've wondered if the food would be good. They give big portions! Ordered Wor won ton funn and I wasn't expecting the bowl to be that big! Loved how clean tasting the broth was! Also ordered look funn stir fry dish and a wonton in sauce. The look fun stirfry dish was delicious! The wonton in sauce dish came in a pie dish! Lol. Would definitely go back

Time for an update, as my last review of Au's Garden Chinese Restaurant is almost 10 years old. Time certainly passes quickly, and 10 years ago my diet was totally different from what I eat today, but luckily whenever I go to Au's Garden Chinese Restaurant, Au has an array of items which will fit my dietary needs. Yeah, not doubt this restaurant looks dated, but that's part of the charm if you like old skool diners. I must say the Chinese food here is pretty good (check out all my pics), but what really stands out at Au's Garden Chinese Restaurant is the service. I found the workers here to be very friendly, and they provide top notch service. From the last time I dined here (earlier this year), we recently went back to Au's to celebrate Chinese New Year. While dining here, I believe the owner actually remembered us from eating here a few months before. Generous portions, reasonable prices, & OUTSTANDING Service = a solid old skool Chinese diner! Chance 'em!

Au's Garden is on the corner of Mookaula Street and Kamenani Street - which is almost like an alley, connecting to North King St. It has an old school vibe - I don't think much has changed since the 70's. I am not sure how long they've been at this location but I would not be surprised of it is 40 to 50 years. Happy Hour Special is from 1000a till 300p daily and at $15 a good deal. Operating hours are from 1000a till 900p everyday as well. I requested the special and got the Salt & Pepper Pork Chop with Chow Mein. The noodles were bland and plain. The pork chop was good. Thinly cut and dredged in corn starch. The only thing is that in most Chinese restaurants...ya can't tell the difference between the pork and beef, in most cases. Small shared parking lot outside one of their two entrances.

Food: just average Cantonese cuisine, but there were some dishes that I quite enjoyed: clam with black bean sauce, salted egg yolk shrimp, fried intestines, and Mongolian beef. The clams with black bean sauce were well flavored and umami. The salted egg yolk shrimp is not on the menu. I guess it was a secret menu item. I recommend it without the shell so you can enjoy it with salted egg yolk sauce that coats the shrimp. The sauce is slightly grainy and creamy in texture. Fried intestines might not be for everyone, but I personally love intestines for its fatty, soft, and chewy texture. Lastly, the Mongolian beef was very tender and well-seasoned Service: our waitress was very friendly and would check up on us. 10/10! Atmosphere: typical no frills Chinese restaurant interior. Very casual mom and pop shop kind of vibe.

This was our second time dining here, and once again the staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant offers lots of seating in round and rectangular tables. It can get quite busy--especially when large groups or parties come in. Parking in front can also be limited due to the many nearby restaurants and bars, but there's additional parking available in the surrounding lots. On this visit, we ordered: 1) Hot Ginger Chicken Absolutely amazing. The chicken is topped with fresh ginger and green onions and finished with a shoyu-oil sauce that brings out incredible flavor. A must try! 2) Green Beans with Minced Pork Another favorite of ours. It has a mild kick, and the combination of minced garlic, ground pork, and tender green beans gives the dish wonderful depth and taste. A must order especially if you love green beans. 3) Egg Fu Yung Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. A simple but delicious classic. We love the food and service here and would definitely recommend it. If you are planning to order takeout, I recommend calling ahead--this place gets busy.

Take out, lemon chicken and fried rice

Au's is usually really good to dine in, service is good and the restaurant is nice and clean, but my dad bought lemon chicken and fried rice tonight and I really wish it was good, but it was pretty bad. The chicken was so thin it doesn't even look like there's anything in between the batter. It was extremely chewy and unpleasant to eat and cannot comprehend how this is even allowed to be sold. on top of that, 2 orders of lemon chicken and fried rice came out to $50 and it feels like a rip off.

We had lunch here for the first time after finding our intended destination full. The food came quickly and was tasty. The lamb casserole didn't have much color but had the requisite flavor. The string beans and pork was the best dish ... dark green, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The crisp gau gee with crispy noodles was fine. We ran into the chef from one of our favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants... if he comes here, it must be alright.

Amazing food. Price is very reasonable. Lemon chicken with char siu fried rice was awesome. My friend ate the cake noodle with chicken. Tasted delicious. Gotta go and eat there. Worth it

Pretty good Chinese food i need to try more dishes to fully give a better review but the dishes i got was take out. Roast duck, comes with a sauce which is very different from other Chinese restaurants. But I like it. Some pieces were dry but the parts that wasn't dry was super good. Salt and pepper pork chops. This is my favorite to order but I felt like they didn't put enough of the toppings on it so it tasted a little more bland than I'm used to. Overall the service was great and pretty quick. I wanna dine in and get the full experience or get more dishes for take out.

Update 6-14-25. Since the town traffic was so bad my hubby said we go back at this restaurant to eat cold ginger chicken. I said ok. We arrive there about 11am and not busy sat down right away. So we did order the cold ginger chicken and saw spring rolls on the menu so saw both of them. Very good on both. We were happy campers. Lol.

Celebrating my brother in laws birthday at Au's Garden been here several years ago But I believe now it's new ownership. Lots of big party going on same time good for them . Service was great as busy they were they kept up with all the customers. Our food came out all at once we couldn't take pictures that fast . Food was ok tasting my favorite was their beef chow fun along with sweet sour Pork chops . Lots of parking available although they do share the parking lot with other businesses. Support local

Set menu B for 10 people

First timer here and it was a great experience. The service was great and had really friendly waiters. I definitely would come here again. We came here for dinner with a party of 10 so we all decided to do the dinner set menu. We chose the set B. All the food was great. Every dish was perfect. My most favorite dish was the roast duck and salt and pepper pork. The pork was really soft and perfectly seasoned in my opinion. The duck was very flavorful just the way I like it. Only down fall is there is no dessert menu if you're in to that. But definitely a new Chinese restaurant to go to.

Kung Pao chicken. Really good but chicken was not tender and dish was not spicy at all.
    Mark F.

This could have been a 5 star rating if for two things, that can easily be corrected. Let's get to the good stuff first. Restaurant was clean and spacious and wait staff were quite attentive and friendly. Always like that. Service was prompt and menu offerings were plentiful. I chose the Kung pao with chicken and it was listed as 'hot' with fire icon, which is not surprising, and I do like hot. When the dish came out I was surprised because it wasn't 'saucy' and appeared to be dry like a stir fry. I was suspicious, but after taking a few bites, I *really* liked it. A lot in fact. It was tasty and not overwhelming with sauce. Now the reason for the dropped star. There was no real 'hot' in the dish. No red peppers to pick out and not spicy, very mild. The other thing was that the chicken, although had a nice taste, was very difficult to cut into small pieces with your fork. Not tender enough, probably overcooked. If those two things are corrected, this would be a solid 5 in my books especially since it appeared to be a 'dry' version. Hope the staff reads this and considers this.

My husband and I have been coming here for years, and remember coming here when we first started dating. The price went up a little bit to a few bucks a person, but it's still worth the entrance fee. We came back here with our kids, who had never been, and they had so much fun playing in and around the huge trees, running around the big open spaces, and feeding the ducks in the duck pond. A picnic was a delight at a table, and we brought a blanket to sit on and eat snacks again a little later while we were walking around. The bathrooms are nice and renovated. Really appreciate that touch. Overall, a great place to come for a little communue with nature.

Been wanting to visit here for years as the last time was probably in elementary school for a field trip, and I forgot what exactly was here. It was closed during and after covid for years, then reopened to private functions only, and had no idea when it was reopened to the public. $10 for adults ($4 for Kama'aina and military) 7 for ages 6-12, under 6 (and Kama'aina and military) is free. Moanalua Gardens is conveniently located right next to the H-1 freeway. Heading westbound direction is very easy. Note: the parking entrance is literally right before the off ramp. Look for the "Moanalua Gardens" signs. Take the Tripler exit. Look for the entrance on the right. If you're on the off-ramp, you passed it. But that's okay! You can make a right (H-1 eastbound, you'll make a left at the Triper off-ramp), then left on Mahiole St, and turn in the next driveway. You'll drive through the service entrance to the parking lot. Plenty of parking! Pay at the entrance kiosk where they also sell snacks and drinks. Once inside, there's a moss/algae and leaf filled pond. There's koi fish, but the water is dark and murky, you can barely see their bright colors. King Kamehameha V's cottage that looks like a like a usual house. A Chinese style structure that looks like it has seen better days. Both are not accessible. As for the rest, the "Hitachi" monkeypod trees are all well maintained. Even though, there's PLENTY of monkeypod trees around the island, there's not many that's grown in this wide, umbrella shaped figure with branches close to the ground. Overall, it's cool to see the umbrella shaped Hitachi trees in a wide open, park-like space, but the other areas are not very well-maintained. There's not much else to do with some places restricted making it difficult to appreciate the history and importance. Charging $10 regular entrance fee, even the $4 Kama'aina fee, isn't worth it to just go in a what is basically a park. Isn't Hitachi paying atleast $400,000 per year to use the image of the tree in their advertising?

To be honest, I'm SURE military will say it's because this is "PEARL HARBOR", where their military is located, they have to take precautions to whom has access to the area.
