This is a great location for a quick lunch Monday through Friday or, a great place to just sit in the park, have a dog and people watch.

A very large bar with gaming and activities throughout the week. Karaoke, trivia, live music, etc…read more The kitchen is usually open until 10pm during the week which is sometimes why my bro and I venture here. My bro likes the spicy chicken strips and mini beef tacos. The cream cheese poppers are good. I was surprised with the ultimate adult grilled cheese, it's quite good for bar food. They recently added tuna melts to the menu which I was pleased. You can get the tuna melt with pita bread, regular sourdough bread or as a tortilla wrap. It is my new favorite thing on the menu. The bartender who served us on 12/10 was super friendly and made sure my tuna melt order came out the way I requested. I didn't get her name but thank you for being so helpful!

GREAT prices for good food! I got the Polancic's Tenderloin with the daily cold salad (macaroni…read moresalad), a pickle spear, and a drink- all for only $13! The macaroni salad tasted so good!! I've never had macaroni salad before, but after having it here, it won't be my last time that's for sure. I'm not a huge tenderloin fan, but I know from many people that the Ottawa tenderloins are top tier. Really neat place inside too! They had ping pong, pool, darts, sand volleyball, you name it! The service is why I took a star off. It was very slow unfortunately yet seemed rushed at the table. It also felt like our food was thrown down in front of us. Side Note- they do not have to-go cups which I have never encountered at a restaurant.

Besides being filthy and with zero decor besides the free "try a tamale!" posters that frozen food…read morevendors give their buyers, the food was terrible. Apparently there was a race to cut the cucumbers and tomatoes as the slices were all too thick to sit correctly on the bun. They threw in a whopping (2) sport peppers. And worst of all, the hot dog was clearly not a Vienna and instead reminded me of every penis I've seen in every autopsy I've attended (a lot). It was pale, disgusting, and looked like it had been pulled from a bathtub after being dead for 6 days. There was zero flavor to the hot dog. $5 for something that should never be served. The guy working there was clearly excited about playing big boss to the 2 high school aged girls there, although he couldn't tell them to sweep all the chips off the floor in the dining area. And all you can get is chips - they have no deep fryer. The ceiling tiles were stained and gross. This place looked like it was abandoned 3 years ago and they just opened it today to serve the 2 hot dogs left in water before they closed. You'd do better at the disgusting Long John Silver/KFC combo shack a few blocks away. And that's sad. Go to downtown Morris for food you can actually eat.

Since Chicago is known for the Chicago-style hot dog and Italian beef sandwich, I knew I had to try…read moreboth while in town. Fortunately Portillo's offers both and it was recommended by locals and previous travelers to make this my one restaurant to try both. I arrived on foot on a Saturday before 10pm and there was a long line to order on the kiosks and a security guard by the door. The restaurant has two floors of seating with dated decor all around, assumingly part of the intended vibe of the establishment. The first floor seating was all taken but there were plenty of tables available on the second floor. I was able to try Portillo's hot dog and Italian beef sandwich. The hot dog included mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, pickle, and peppers on a poppy seed bun. The paper wrapper was strategically wrapped around the Chicago dog inside out, knowing that the logo would be clearly visible when people take pictures of the unwrapped hot dog. I ordered a regular hot dog but probably should've ordered a jumbo hot dog for a dollar more since then regular was tiny; for comparison it was definitely smaller than a Costco hot dog. Although the toppings complemented the hot dog well, the bun was soggy from being wrapped in the paper for only a few minutes. The standard big Italian beef sandwich (slightly wet) was much larger for more than double the price of the hot dog, with no Portillo's branding on that wrapper. I was a little too excited to order this that I forgot to add sweet and hot peppers, but the sandwich still tasted very good. After ordering I realized I probably should've ordered the gravy on the side so I can dip the sandwich more, but again it was still very good. For dessert I tried the lemon cake slice and strawberry shortcake. The lemon cake was a little dry and really sweet and the strawberry shortcake had a little too much mascarpone cheese whipped topping for my liking, but of course I didn't have to finish it all. Portillo's is a good option for casual fast food and for travelers to try. I definitely prefer the Italian beef sandwich over the Chicago dog, but that is my personal preference. For a sweet treat, the strawberry shortcake is a nice option if no other dessert places are nearby. To save time during peak hours, it may be a good idea to order ahead on the mobile app.
