Our cottage, the Tritch, had two separate bedrooms, and I appreciated the privacy and spaciousness it offered. The cottage came fully stocked with everything to cook on site, but the location is close enough to both Johnson City downtown and Hye, if you prefer to dine out, shop, or hit the wineries. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They really thought of all of the little details, including providing fresh chicken eggs(!!), popcorn, ice cream, oatmeal, granola bars, and coffee and tea. There was a communal fire pit, which we enjoyed using at night, and an enclosed puppy park area for pet owners. They also have a beautiful event venue near the front of the property, if you are looking to celebrate something with our without on site lodging. There was an outdoor sitting area just outside of our cottage, where I was able to enjoy my morning beverage in nature. Last but not least, they included free wine tasting certificates in the cottage as an added bonus, score! The feel at Wrenwood Ranch is warm and welcoming, but the separate cottages give you as much privacy as you want. We went into Johnson City and Hye a few times over the course of the weekend, and we were never bored. Wrenwood Ranch is a hidden gem and a great value when you consider all of the extras they provide. We hope to come back and to send our friends your way!

Lynn, one of the owners welcomed my wife and I at the driveway. Before we arrived, Lynn even washed our linens in special detergent due to a skin allergy. During the trip she was more than helpful, assisting us with sightseeing and eatery options. Lynn even called some places for us to ensure availability. The facilities were clean and the cupboards filled with thoughtful items to make our stay cozy. The bedroom windows looked onto an inviting courtyard. Each morning at 8:30, breakfast and coffee were served in the main house's dining room. The breakfast recipes were decadent and delicious. One morning we had a great time, eating at the table with a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary! We would recommend this place to any of our friends.

Since it was Easter weekend and we were booking only 3 days in advance, we ended up booking one of the cabins for our weekend getaway. We were definitely happy with our choice. It was a good 7 miles from Main Street Fredericksburg which wasn't too long of a drive from town. However, it was definitely off the beaten path. You'll wind through some country roads before you hit a gate with an access code for the 4 cabins. The grounds were well maintained and the four cabins formed a little community in the gated area. We stayed in "Mercy" which was one of the middle cabins - there was a designated parking spot for each cabin and wooden walkways leading up to the cabin. The cabins were made completely of wood, including the kitchen island and the bar stools made to look like wine barrels. The rocking chairs on the porch and the wine barrel table was a nice touch. The cabins all contain a little living area with a small love seat, a TV, and a small kitchen complete with an island, microwave, sink and refrigerator. It comes furnished with a set of plates and silverware - enough for 2 people. The owners left us cookies and a nice little welcome note, which was a nice touch. The cabin each contained a king size bed and a bathroom with a spacious standing shower. The beds were a little uncomfortable, as were the pillows, but the sheets were soft. There are ceiling fans in both rooms (living and bedroom) and a small A/C unit, which we set to 68 at night but wasn't very cold. The water was also warm but didn't get very hot. The cabins provided towels and shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Overall, it was a nice space for a romantic getaway for 2. There is a shared patio space in the middle with a tiny bbq grill, like the ones you see at a state park, and a round table set on top of a wooden patio to be used for lunch/dinner, etc. It is lit at night and the paths are also lined with motion sensored lights for visibility. It was quiet and you do not hear your neighbors at all, especially since this is an adult only facility. We enjoyed it and liked the country feel of the cabins a lot! From the looks of it, the cabins were brand new and from the guestbook, only 4 or 5 other couples stayed here before us. Clean, new, and private with everything we needed! We drove into town for wine tasting and breakfast, and drove another 45 mins to a little over an hour to Enchanted Rock State Park and Pedernales Falls State Park in Johnson City!

My mom eventually went back only to have the A/C go out and had to find other accommodations. So I have never stayed there; but decided to challenge the bad luck by booking the same room. Bad idea; because the instant I stepped in the room I hated it. The windows overlook nothing except the top of a dirty old building. The room instantly fought back as the A/C decided not to work and within 45 minutes of walking in the door it was 96 degrees and climbing. I don't think this room likes the Rooster family. Welcome to a better room; the beautiful Hill Country Lodge! This country themed room is charming and overlooks Main Street Fredericksburg and all its activities. Nice decorations, bed, bath, and a shower head that could take the freckles off your skin. Our only complaint was the tiny television; think 19 inch. So the price was great at $150 with tax; cursed room aside we had a great time. No breakfast as the name denotes; but on to the brew portion. You have the option to go down to the restaurant/brewery (directly below) and have a free beer or you can do what we did. Line up a sample glass of every beer they make! A few spinning in your head stair steps and your back in your room. Get a HD tv and I'll be back with 5 stars in my eyes.

We stayed at the Twiggley's Tree House. The cottage was small but very cozy. Everything was tidy and well put together. There were three separate entrances to the other parts of the cottage so other parties wouldn't disturb each other. The cottage had a mini fridge and a small fireplace. The cottage was located conveniently by the main street (two blocks away) so you could easily walk to the main street. It was a lovely cottage and Dennis was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Fredericksburg.

The living room, kitchenette, king bedroom with large closet and bath were so nice to return to each day after touring the area. And, so nice that it's located just a few blocks from Main Street. The owner, Dennis, was very welcoming and helpful! He prepared and served a delicious gourmet breakfast each morning and is an interesting and delightful conversationalist with guests. He's an excellent cook and left cookies in our apartment each day. We look forward to staying here again!!!

I don't know about you, but I'd rather not stay in a hotel room all weekend since that doesn't feel better than staying home. That's what led us to The Gathering. We came upon their listing via a post on Instagram about interesting places to stay around Austin, or within a short drive. I fell in love with the decor and the privacy! The Gathering is a collection of cottages or houses that each have their own style and although the houses are close to each other, they share no common walls, and each has a private outdoor area, and hot tub, in addition to delightful homey touches. There is a kitchenette for meals, but no stove or oven, but we found November the perfect time to make sausage dogs over the fire pit. We toasted s'mores and sipped champagne, spent time relaxing in the hot tub, and even rinsed off in the outdoor shower. By the time our stay was up, we were both wishing we had booked more nights! We stayed at the Hideaway house, which is the farthest property from the street and really enjoyed how alone we felt despite the adjacent houses also having guests. We enjoyed a game of basketball on the court across from our cottage and gathered pecans from the huge trees for a mid day snack. Deer were seen scampering across the back meadow and the gentle baas from the sheep nearby added to the bucolic scene. The only negative for me was that I found the mattress to be a bit firm for my tastes, but since that is purely a personal preference, I would not deduct stars for it. Check in was easy, we had no problems getting in. Property managers are communicative if you need anything but also give you complete privacy if you wish. There is free uncovered parking, park on the quiet street out front and there's a small, short path that leads you to all the different properties. The area is off the main streets of town to afford you comfort and quiet, but also close enough to get to everything easily via a short car or bike ride. I appreciated all the little modern, homey details of this place. A couple things of note: Wifi is very spotty so don't count on that if you need it for anything. It wasn't a big deal to us because we were there to relax and disconnect anyway. Not sure if it had anything to do with the Hideaway being the last property farthest from the entrance. If you want to use the fire pit, bring your own fire wood. Though there is a starter log provided and a gas fireplace available. Lots of shampoo and body wash provided but bring your own conditioner if you wish - only a hotel size tube available in the bathroom. Walgreens and HEB/Walmart are very close by if you need anything! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

We booked our weekend…read morestay at the Legacy Suite Bed and Breakfast on Main St. Without knowing much about the area, we found that its location was perfectly centered in town within walking distance to places to eat, shopping, and bars. The pictures that we viewed online looked nice, but the suite was much, much nicer in person and a lot more spacious than what I was expecting. It was literally several times larger than what I had in mind. Our host Jeff was amazing. Within minutes he made us feel like we were just talking and hanging out with an uncle or second cousin. We booked a tour that he guided through Keidel Wine Tours. The tour was packed with historical knowledge as well as current changes taking place in the area. We visited multiple wineries, and Jeff was there to help educate us without feeling embarrassed because of our lack of wine knowledge. Prior to our visit, I never would've thought in a million years that I'd ever become a "Wine Club Member" at one of the wineries we visited. Our stay at Legacy Suite Bed and Breakfast and tour with Keidel Wine Tours definitely changed that.
