They are absolutely amazing!! I cant say enough great things about Dr. Moghadam and all his staff!! I have been a surrogate 3x. Thankfully the 1st time was with a couple through this clinic and the whole process was SO smooth and wonderful! Was successful the first transfer! The 2nd time I was a surrogate the intended parents were with another clinic and the experience was SO awful!! Worlds different! Several falled transfers, prescribed medication that didn't make sense to me, procedures done it felt like in a closet...etc. Thank goodness I had the experience with Dr. M first! Bc I refused to do another transfer with them unless they followed the flow chart from my 1st surrogacy. That clinic was offended but at least listen to me at that point and wouldn't you know that transfer was successful. And now I am on my 3rd surrogacy and we went straight to Dr. Moghadam and once again it was successful the very 1st transfer! And the whole process again was just so smooth and easy. The intended parents told me the process of their egg retrieval before the transfer was very smooth and easy for them too. They are just absolutely the best to me!! I truly feel this clinic gives you the absolute best chances to have your 'Little One' that your heart and soul is wanting and trying so hard for! read more

Sadly I did not have a good experience with this clinic. I made an appointment based on a word of mouth referral. I went and was charged $300 as a "deposit" but I never saw claims filed to insurance nor did I get a refund from said deposit. Let's not forget to mention almost daily ultrasounds. Maybe that's where the $300 went to? in addition to the hour long waits for a 5 minute visit. All this while trying to keep my job and explain why I needed to see the dr almost daily. I went with the intention of getting lab work run and starting with pills (clomid or femara) as my obgyn didnt do this part. I was never allowed to do this as I was told It wouldnt work. (how do we know that?) Was sent to get an hsg without a negative pregnancy test in hand. (couldnt possibly be the first time they've sent someone to the ARA but they wouldnt help me so that was a waste of PTO, time and getting stuck in 5 oclock traffic unnecessarily. I had to drive bk to their clinic, get a blood draw so I could try again on yet another day. ) Not only was I not able to get a script for pills, I was told i should start with IVF. I absolutely refused and somehow this compromise was an IUI. What I should have done was walk out. But i let this dr talk me into an iui. $3300 later and who knows how many trips to the specialty pharmacy 30 miles away, I had a failed iui and a data breach bc someone left a laptop in their car. The final straw was being told my next step would be ivf or ovarian drilling. nope. nope. nope. I'm out. I ended up putting a pin in all this and ended up getting pregnant naturally about a year after I stopped going to this office but I still get chills everytime I see the exit off mopac. In summation, i will say he was super aggressive and seemed like he wanted everyone to get pregnant... but at what cost? I also want to mention I got a shot of vitamins (allegedly) that was above my hip that really aggravated my sciatic nerve... just be cautious. I thought I had a blood clot at first, but being that I am a runner I had it checked out to rule out any bigger problems. I ended up going to a different infertility dr who has now since retired but I wish I had gone to him first. If you do go here, I hope you are treated better than I was. read more

I'm sharing this because I wish someone had warned me. I left this practice earlier than planned because I lost trust in both the physician's medical judgment and the overall management of my care. Over multiple encounters during IVF and early pregnancy bleeding, I experienced: Mocking and dismissive responses to legitimate medical questions, ultimatums regarding procedures rather than collaborative discussions, refusal for HCG labs after bleeding episodes after multiple miscarriages, being left physically exposed during an exam while the hallway door was open, and financial comments made while I was visibly sobbing I left multiple conversations with this physician sobbing, developed anxiety before interactions, and felt afraid to ask questions openly. A staff member privately acknowledged that similar concerns had occurred before, which influenced my decision to transfer care early. After switching to my OB, routine early pregnancy testing immediately identified and treated a UTI that had not been addressed by AFI. In the context of IVF and prior losses, discovering that something so basic required attention during a sensitive time was deeply concerning. I also experienced troubling issues with lab billing an explanations were inconsistent and unclear. Given the already significant cost of fertility treatment, this lack of transparency further damaged my confidence. The cumulative experience felt emotionally abusive to me. I did not feel safe, respected, medically secure, or financially protected under this physician's care. Fertility treatment is one of the most vulnerable experiences a woman can go through. Women deserve better, and I would not recommend AFI based on my experience. read more

He provided exceptional, very customized care as we sought to expand our family after experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss. Dr. M spent countless hours with us, explaining the procedures and protocols very clearly and answering our many questions. We never felt rushed, and he always took the time to listen to us. He also performed multiple procedures with extreme precision and skill. I highly recommend Dr. M and his office staff/nurses! I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child and have 2 beautiful children thanks to this team. I was so lucky to get a referral from a friend who also had a great experience on their own long difficult infertility journey. Dr. M is SO smart and skilled. Some appointments may have long wait times, as he is the only provider in the clinic (which is a good thing) but that is ok with me. He is thorough and spends time reviewing the plan. The nurses are quick to respond as well and get lab results back to you same day if possible. I had a great experience, and I will forever my grateful for Austin Fertility Institute! I drive over 40 minutes there (and 40 back) for each appointment because it is worth it. 10 stars! read more

We are currently going through our second IVF transfer with Dr. Moghadam and are extremely grateful for the precision, skill, and high level of care he and his well trained staff have provided. We dealt with the pain and exhaustion of infertility for over four years with many losses, and several different approaches with different providers before finding Austin Fertility Institute. Dr. M was the first provider to give us a working hypothesis for why we were experiencing unexplained fertility loss; with other providers, we got a lot of shoulder shrugs. AFI has been a guiding light for our family and we recommend Dr. Moghadam and his team wholeheartedly to anyone on a similar path. Our first transfer worked and we have an incredible two year old at home that brings an enormous amount of joy into every day. My wife and I had 5 tough years and miscarriages prior to meeting Dr. Moghadam. We went through the usual fertility routines against time and budget without success. At the time he was not our primary Dr. but subbed for our doctor's vacation. We appreciated the honest and straight forwardness we received from him in and ended up following him into his own practice. Dr. Moghadam quickly made several adjustments to our plan and because of his experience and expertise he identified an abnormality within my wife's uterus that increased risk and prevented embryo growth. We had seen others specialists and doctors who never identified this prior or even looked at it. Beyond the job Dr. Moghadam has a heart of gold, he prioritizes his patients, families and the pregnancy. Over time we routinely saw him sacrifice much of his own time including late evening, weekends, and holidays to be there for his clients when needed. He has the ability to calm and connect in times of stress but be firm and direct when necessary to follow the plan and minimize risk. Most important to us is that he has a sense of humor. For us, humor eases the stress, pain and uncertainties within the process. Horrible experience! Read all the negative reviews on google and Yelp. They are all true! Go to Dr. Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility. It took me years to write this because of my traumatic experience from this person. Before exploring any other options, he immediately and continuously pushed unnecessary, invasive, potentially risky surgery even though I didn't need it. A second opinion from different MD confirmed that he was recommending an extreme and unnecessary procedure for my situation. Additionally, he has no bed side manners considering that he is practicing in an area of medicine where patients are likely already experiencing serious personal, emotional, and physical stress related to a very sensitive subject, fertility. He yelled at me when he and his staff made the error and mistake regarding my appointment. So I showed him proof of email where he was lying about the timeline. He went from yelling at me to yelling and berating his staff which tells me that either he is not the type to accept responsibility for mistakes, willing to deflect blame on others, or he is not mentally competent to recall what had happened. I have never been yelled at by a provider like that or seen a provider belittle a staff member in front of a patient. I was shaking and crying because I was so traumatized. I did not undergo the procedure and switched to a different provider who exhibits consideration, professionalism, and competence which I did not witness/experience with him. I decided to write this review after years because I had a random encounter today who told me about a horrible experience she had with this person. Where do I even begin when talking about my gratitude for AFI and Dr M. We came to him struggling to have our second child after a diagnosis of diminished egg reserve from a previous doctor. The original clinic was not willing to change protocol, look deeper, and see the picture as a whole. That was NOT the case with Dr M. He walked us through all our options, what he felt confident would work, and we trusted him immediately. He is blunt and to the point but isn't that what you go to a fertility clinic for? Answers? I have been seeing Dr. M for a couple of years now, for genetic testing, after a second trimester loss (hysteroscopy) and also for egg retrievals. Yes, he is the best in Austin and I have always really appreciated having providers be straight forward, honest and great at their practice. I made an appointment here after receiving abnormal Modern Fertility results which granted me a referal from my PCM. I had gotten the test done due to wanting to be proactive in my own reproductive health coupled with family fertility issues, and I had been asking for testing and/or a referal for about a year. But according to my insurance, I would not be able to get the apt covered unless we had been trying to get pregnant for a whole year, OR with abnormal results from a self-funded testing. When the results came back showing low levels of estradiol, after a discussion with my PCM reviewing the results she said I should follow-up with a reproductive endocrinologist. Finally armed with a referal, we searched for a female provider that accepted our insurance, however there were none in a 50 mile radius. AFI was able to get us in first out of the 7 providers available. While waiting for our appointment, I spent a lot of time looking up "low estradiol" in order to prepare for the appointment, and I had many questions! We arrived 30 min early. Dr Moghadam ran 45 minutes late. He didn't apologize or address being late; he dove right into the appointment asking questions like what bought us here etc. Every single time I opened my mouth to respond, he cut me off; incredibly rude/ frustrating. I said we'd been trying to get a referal and finally got the results that got us the referal, and he said we could have gotten the same test done for free a long time ago and wasn't sure why I paid to get it done. Which simply isn't true, as I've put in extensive effort trying to get my insurance to cover testing or a general appointment. When I told him that, he doubled-down and argued people get it covered all the time. There's actually several "versions" of my insurance and maybe a different insurance could get covered, but I know it's not covered on mine so to see this guy so confidently give me incorrect information was bizarre. When I showed him the test results, he laughed it off saying there's "no such thing as low estradiol." I found this response confusing, as mentioned previously I had done a lot of digging and talking with my PCM prior to my appointment, and it seemed low estradiol very much is a thing. Interestingly, even more so when coupled with conditions like cPTSD, which I have, as it seems a history of trauma can be associated with alterations in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis which can result in lower estrogens. One of the questions I had was about Hypopituitarism, or when the pituitary gland doesn't make enough of certain hormones (like estrogens) which can be co-occurring in patients with trauma history, but we never got to that. When he reviewed my chart and saw I have cPTSD, he asked bluntly "Why do you have PTSD?" I've never had a provider ask such a sensitive question quite in the way he chose to and also he didn't explain a reason behind it. I corrected him saying I actually have cPTSD, which is an important distinction for my potential endocrinologist to be aware of. To which he responded "oh well I'm just going off what YOU wrote on your chart." I know for a fact I definitely wrote it correctly. Not a fan of his tone and still unclear why he was asking, I told him it's sensitive (and he clearly was not interested in developing rapport). To which he responded "that's fine I'll just put 'patient refused to disclose'." He continued to mansplain my reproductive system for me, and various reproductive issues that were irrelevant as I was there for low estradiol readings which he couldn't care less about. At one point I looked down at my phone so I could remind myself of some of the questions, and he dramatically paused until I looked up from my phone and he said, "oh are we still talking? I wasn't sure since you were on your phone." In total shock at this point, I told him I was looking at my phone to remind myself of all the questions I had, and was really confused since the information he was giving me was contradicting a lot of the information I found. To which he responded "oh I'm sorry have you been doing this for 20 years? Because I have." Honestly I still cannot believe the audacity, the way this guy conducted himself, how unbelievably rude, ESPECIALLY in the complete IRONY that HE was 45 minutes late and interpreted ME every time I spoke. Tears in my eyes I told him frankly I was shocked with the tone and this was NOT at all what I was expecting, so I think at this point we'd be done. To which he asked if he could at least explain some test options. At this point I was absolutely never going to trust him with our family planning needs, but figured we could get the tests done elsewhere. He said they'd do some free genetic testing, so we agreed we would get that done but other than that I'll gladly be avoiding this giant walking A-hole and would suggest anyone else do so too. read more

I came here because my gyno referred me here. I'm sure Dr. Moghadam is a good doctor; however, he's always pressed for time because he overbooks himself. He prides himself on his numbers! My first appointment he was late to our meeting and when he explained everything, he wasn't the most empathetic about it, he's condescending. There's a nurse there who tried to do my blood work and kept poking and moving the needle around in my arm before she just left and sent someone else to do it. She didn't even apologize for wasting my time. Then yesterday morning, I had to call the office to reschedule some blood work and had a couple questions but for some reason the nurses not only had me on hold but gave the phone to Dr. Moghadam. He was frustrated and made it a point to let me know how pressed for time he was and before I could say anything to him he absolutely had to say everything he needed to say first because it was more important (and so was his ego). He shouldn't have been on the phone but also if he'd taken the time to put his ego aside and listened to my questions he would've saved a few minutes talking to me. All I wanted to know was the length of the procedure and to say I wanted to wait on it. I didn't ask for intricate details or needed to know he had 18 procedures to do yesterday, that had nothing to do with me. If he was so pressed for time, he should've either called me back or left it to the nurses to answer my questions. If you want someone who's fast, go here but if you want someone who's empathetic and will actually walk you through the procedures and not treat you like just a number, go somewhere else. read more

Wow! Where do I begin? My husband and I started our fertility treatment journey a little over 3 years ago while stationed in Alaska. We had suffered 8 miscarriages at this point, and none of our pregnancies had lasted beyond the first two months. It was a heartbreaking season for us and on top of it all we were a military family and were moving around every few years. We tried everything! Acupuncture, herbal remedies, essential oils (lol), and two failed IUI's. I went through many providers seeking answers and help on what I could do to achieve a full-term pregnancy with my husband. I am an Army veteran and my husband is on active duty -- but the VA nor the Tricare system covers IVF unless my infertility was service-connected. Then we got stationed here at Fort Cavazos a little over 2 years ago, and my primary care provider at the time sent me Dr. Moghadam's information. That was a blessing in disguise I tell ya! He was sooooo confident from the first meeting that I looked at my husband and said is this man for real??? Haha. How can he be so confident? But let me tell you -- this man and his staff are so gifted in this craft. I can't explain to you the science behind everything that is going on, but that science is engrained into Dr. Moghadam's brain. He might be a machine, who knows? Sometimes I wonder if there is a processor under that head of luxurious dark hair. Long story short, I had such a successful experience with him during our "first" round of IVF, where I gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy who is now a little over two years old, that I came back for more. I was always scared after my first IVF procedure, but not because of the confidence I lacked in Dr. M or the staff, but because at this point I had doubted my body so much. But the confidence and expertise he exuded really kept me at bay. We are now currently 9 weeks pregnant with our second baby -- and just as before there was not a doubt in my mind that Dr. M was going to make it happen. The staff has also ALWAYS been so sweet to me and so caring. I love all the ladies there. I have never had any bad experiences with any of the staff members. And their level of knowledge is awesome too! Now that I have graduated from the Austin Fertility Clinic for maybe the last time... I will say I will miss everyone there. The appreciation and gratitude toward this practice goes without saying. AND I will miss hearing Dr. M's soles of his boots clank down the hallway when he is coming toward the exam room to give me great news!!! We started with AFI as a referral from our insurance, and walked in really having no idea what to expect and not even sure we would need to pursue IVF. We fell in love with Dr. M from the jump. He was unbelievably knowledgeable, straightforward, and by the end of our first consultation we had a timeline. In 2022, after multiple miscarriages and visiting other Austin fertility clinics, I met with Dr. M and his nurses and we came up with a plan for me to have a successful pregnancy. The clinic is not an assembly line type of fertility clinic like some other Austin clinics. He cares for his patients and comes up with a detailed plan and will message or call even on weekends or holidays to make sure you aren't waiting on any labwork. After a successful birth of my daughter and moving out of Texas, my husband and I decided to travel back to Austin to AFI in order to have help getting pregnant again and so have everything has been smooth sailing. If you are looking for a fertility clinic that cares about you having a successful pregnancy and treats you more than just a number, AFI is definitely the best choice for you. I went in for a second opinion and was ready to start treatment, but a couple things made me change my mind and made me stick with my original doctor. It is my hope that this review will be used to improve the services at AFI and that other patients will have a better experience. 1. The lack of communication between the clinical and front team was evident. The clinical team sent me up front to wait for an ultrasound probably because there wasn't room available at the moment. The front team charged me for the visit and ultrasound and then told me that I could leave. When I asked when I was getting the ultrasound, the lady said, "You haven't gotten it yet?" Nope...hadn't gotten it. 2. I get the ultrasound done for an antral count, and the nurse/medical assistant can't find one of my ovaries. Dr. Moghadam is in the room, and I know that there a bunch of people waiting for their turn. He says, "We'll just assume that you have the same number of follicles as the other ovary." I've done many ultrasounds, and I don't have any where near the same number of follicles in both ovaries at the same time, so I wasn't impressed with his response. It would have been nice if the doctor had stepped in and helped looked for the other ovary. 3. I was supposed to get a lab slip for a blood draw the next day. No lab slip was given to me, and it wasn't an electronic order either. When I called to follow up, the front desk lady told me that she would get back to me right away. No call back that day, and unfortunately that lab test was time sensitive. She called 2 days later and said that now I wouldn't be able to get one of the tests, but that it was apparently okay to skip it. That's confusing to a patient. If I can skip it, then why was it even ordered in the first place? Since many of the fertility procedures are time sensitive, I didn't feel confident in the office if I couldn't even get a call back in a timely fashion. 3. We waited over 1 hour for the appointment. That's ok because that's what I normally wait for other doctor appointments. But we had to stand waiting for most of the 1 hour because there were no seats available. It was a little uncomfortable for both me and my husband. 4. Dr. Moghadam is quick, and it can be misconstrued as slightly rude and condescending. I understand that he's got a bunch of other patients waiting, so this wasn't a huge deal to me. He tried to spend as much time as he could with me, so I did appreciate that. But if you are a patient that needs to be coddled or things to be explained very thoroughly to you, this may not be the right place for you. I hope that this review is helpful to others and to AFI. Maybe things would have been okay if we just stuck it out, but if I'm going to spend close to 30k, I need to feel confident in the office. That feeling just wasn't there for me. read more

Dr M is the best in the business. Period. Fast forward to 2020, we had our 3rd child in late Jan when COVID-19 started to emerge in the US. Throughout the 7 years with them, there wasn't too much change except we have to make the drive up north now (unfortunately they closed the south location). We also did PGD testing on the remaining frozen embryos due to wife's past 2 caesarean deliveries and was advised to put in 1 at a time now. This procedure alone cost us around $4500 (lab + thaw). Other costs include an outpatient procedure at Vivere, fertility meds, doctor fees and acupuncture sessions which usually hit our deductible to max out of pocket range (luckily my insurance cover fertility). In the end, had to buy a new huge SUV to fit all the family now and it made me realize... the SUV didn't make me happy compared to the joy of having 3 kids with me now even though it's the same amount spent on IVF. I read the other reviews since it's mostly positives or negatives depending on the success rate. If you want results, go with Dr M. If you want a person who takes care of your feelings, then go with another. I've gone to their IVF family reunions (they have moved to the scenic Lucy's fried chicken by the lake) and there's a lot more happy families who obviously didn't leave reviews here. We are now successful 3 out of 4 tries and pray that Covid doesn't impact their health/business because we will need Dr M one more time in the future. read more

We have a babytoday because of Dr. Moghadam. He said to us early on, "my goal is to have a successful pregnancy, that is my only focus." We dabbled with "aggressive fertility" treatments via my wife's previous OBGYN doctor and practice ( a big one...that is north). I would caution anyone from trying fertility treatments at an OBGYN practice: prescribing chlomid or fermara monthly isn't proper treatment for a lot of patients. We wasted many many months following some ridiculously misguided approach by doctors that weren't fertility experts. On the flip side, Dr. Moghadam immediately had us on a plan with fertility meds, weekly scans for knowing egg growth and count, subsequently injectable trigger shots, etc. The fact is: we had treatment with Dr. M during 4 pregnancy "attempts" and were successful in getting pregnant twice. That's a 50% rate when normal rates are 20% assuming everything else is operating as expected. Dr. Moghadam cares about the results, the patients, and is passionate about what he does. I am frustrated that we didn't find Dr. M sooner in our journey to having a baby and we were going in circles for 10 months under the care of another doctor who said, "Oh, we treat infertility cases." When we first started seeing Dr. M, I think he may have been booking more clients than he was able to handle. We would go weekly, and tHere would be times where we'd wait an hour for our appointment while we were on time. We eventually just expressed our frustrations directly with Dr M, and said we are always on time, and we want you to do better. He did. We rarely waited more than 30 minutes past our appointment (maybe 25% of the time?). We also started calling prior to the appointment to make sure they weren't running far behind. Dr. M is confident, and patient: explains the process and gives lots of background when asked. Do yourself a favor: if you want a baby and are having a hard time, schedule an appointment. read more

We went through in-Vetro with Dr. Crawfard who was amazing, but has apparently left the clinic. The office staff are great, but Dr. M is cold. We had our first appointment with him and switched right away after he made us wait a long time, then proceeded to rush us through the appointment, speaking very fast. After switching to Crawfard, our experience was much better, but we dreaded the occasional appointment with Dr. M. read more

We had to wait 90 minutes for our first appointment for a 15-minute consult. And the front desk never gave us an update. We asked them how long we should be waiting for and they kept on saying "10 more minutes" We went to another fertility clinic and only waited 10 minutes. We spoke to someone who used to work at Austin Fertility Institute and that person said AFI deliberately overbooks the appointments. Meaning there might be three of you who have the same exact appointment time. Some had to wait two hours or more. This is very unprofessional. Don't go to AFI. You have been warned. read more

Dr. Moghadam and Austin Fertility Institute are simply the best in Austin. It is hard to even put into words what this practice means to my husband and I. IVF is difficult for everyone- it is physically, emotionally, and financially draining. However, having a more than competent physician made the process a little bit easier. Dr. M is an outstanding physician. He truly cares about his patients and it shows. He has a special ability of being matter of fact, but with an excellent bedside manner. Yes, sometimes we had to wait for our appointments. However, I always felt the wait was worth it because we received Dr. Moghadam's full undivided attention and extensive information about treatments and conditions. I never left with questions, and on the rare occasion something did come up after we left an appointment, Dr. Moghadam let us text him which he always responded to quickly. He is thorough, has a good sense of humor, is confident, and extremely skilled from a surgical standpoint. We love that Dr. Moghadam really thinks outside the box- he figured out what I needed specifically and doesn't use a "one size fits all" approach. The nurses, office staff, and medical assistants are also incredible and well trained at AFI. We love and so appreciate all the hard work from Jenna, Britt, Amy, Jamie, Erica, Michelle, Anahi, and Nicole. These ladies also really care about the patients and deliver bad news empathetically and then celebrate with you when there is good news. I graduated from AFI two weeks ago and I am currently almost 12 weeks pregnant. We are hopeful this pregnancy will continue to be successful and feel like we already beat a lot of odds thanks to Dr. Moghadam and his staff. Although we are happy to finally be released to a normal Ob-Gyn, it was bittersweet leaving our AFI family. I highly recommend this practice! It's unfortunate that "reviews" of IVF clinics are largely based on whether the procedure ultimately proved fruitful... which is a bit silly considering IVF regardless of provider has less than a 50% chance of success, and the chances of success largely hinge on the biology of the mother. Having been recently blessed w/ our first baby boy after our experience, I'll try to be as impartial as possible in this review. 1) Dr. Moghadam is fast. He talks fast and he moves fast between patients because he has a lot of them. Some may construe this as impersonal treatment, but the sheer number of clients is also a testament to the popularity of AFI. 2) The services offered at AFI are for the most part a la carte and they are not shy about revealing their pricing (unlike some other IVF clinics *cough RMA*). Most "features" of IVF procedures are there to enhance the success rate. We didn't feel at any point we were being "sold" anything. During our stint Dr. Moghadam was indifferent to PGS testing, citing the 80% accuracy rate. He could've easily upsold us on the greatly improved chances of implantation for chromosomally normal embryos. 3) Dr. Moghadam takes a results/research oriented approach and expects you to already be somewhat knowledgable about the details and expectations of IVF. The question to ask yourself: Do you want somebody to hold your hand, or do you want results? Do you want somebody to tell you what you want to hear or be brutally honest if your chances are below average and need to spend as much as possible? 4) Dr. Moghadam WILL interrupt your consultation to answer his cellphone. That's because he gives out his personal mobile to patients. So yea, if you believe that you're the most important patient he has, then I can see why you think he shouldn't answer it. 5) If you somehow lose his cell phone # (like we did) or he is unavailable, they do have an answering service after hours that appears to be handled by a third party unrelated to the clinic. Don't expect anybody there to know anything about you or your procedure, it's an answering service to put you in touch with someone that does. The bottom line is that IVF is a numbers game. Ultimately you want the best odds while spending the least possible. But the question of whether you SHOULD or HOW MUCH you are willing to do/spend isn't something they can or should answer. The doctors at AFI will not coddle you or give false reassurances for a procedure that is for a majority of the time unsuccessful. What they will do is give you honest concise recommendations and competitive pricing to let YOU make a decision moving forward. Everything from that point on is top notch from the quality of equipment/service to the level of detail and precise information. I am beyond thrilled that my husband and I chose this clinic, and we couldn't be happier or have had a more positive experience. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have agonized over this decision in the slightest. Austin Fertility Institute was absolutely, unquestionably, the best clinic for us to pursue infertility treatment at. We chose treatment at Austin Fertility Institute with Dr. Moghadam because of 1) higher success rates (for my particular demographic than any other clinic in a 60-mile radius; reference sart.org), 2) overwhelmingly positive reviews, 3) PGS testing availability, 4) availability for immediate treatment start, and 5) location. Even from my very first interaction with Austin Fertility Institute, I had a favorable experience. I was able to secure an appointment immediately. All of the staff were personable and friendly. I was treated like a good friend, not just a "patient." My appointments were consistently carried out on time. Even when I arrived exceedingly late to an appointment one day (unexpected traffic paired with missing my exit), all of the staff were super gracious and accommodating, and fit me in quickly. My questions were always answered to my satisfaction. Dr. Moghadam crafted an individualized treatment plan for me based on my particulars, and he listened very carefully to my desires and concerns, and to my unique circumstances (husband was about to deploy, etc). The appointments did not feel overly rushed, and I was given every opportunity to provide input or ask questions. He even gave me his personal cell number, in case any urgent needs or questions came up after business hours. As a nurse practitioner, I am perhaps often hypercritical of other healthcare personnel (some say nurses make the worst patients!). Even given my likely overly-discerning view, I was super impressed with Dr. Moghadam's intellect, skill, friendliness, and candidness. I was equally impressed with his staff. Jenna, Amy, and Jamie (registered nurses) were consistently great and informative. Jasmine (medical assistant) always seemed to be working when I needed blood drawn, and not once did she miss my vein. I had zero pain after my egg retrieval, and Dr. M retrieved 30 eggs. Dr. M is also very strategic in developing a plan that makes good financial sense, and we paid about $8K less for IVF than we had originally anticipated. He gives a worthwhile military discount. I was successfully pregnant after only 5 months of treatment at AFI. Currently, I am 23 weeks along, and at each appointment with my OB, I have been reassured that everything is progressing perfectly. I was going to wait to write this review until I had delivered the baby, but now that I am in the "nesting stage," I feel that I will probably have more time to write the worthwhile review that AFI deserves when I am not yet sleep-deprived with a newborn! My husband and I had tried naturally to have a child for 2 years with no results. We visited a few OBGYN and fertility doctors before Dr. Moghadam, and none of the doctors gave us the personal attention and care that Dr. M has given us. After our first visit we knew right away that he was the doctor for us. We knew we could trust him and he would help us as best as he could. Once we began our treatment he provided his personal phone number that we can call, but of course we do not abuse this privilege and respect his family time at home. But the fact that he gives you access to him after hours is just another way to show how much he cares for his patients and how dedicated he is to their success. Some people will say the wait is long, I have never experienced a long wait. Nothing that isn't to be expected from a successful doctor who runs their own personal practice. Even on busy days, even after he just finished a surgery, he STILL makes us feel like he only cares for us. He is warm and friendly at every single appointment. Some may say he talks fast, I didn't think so. But if you do, then ask him to slow down or repeat himself. Anytime I did not understand a term or "the plan" he very kindly explained things in a different way and made absolute certain that I understood all the information. He even went as far as to draw diagrams! Like with every doctor, always advocate for yourself and have open communication. Dr. Moghadam has counseled us during every obstacle that we have faced. He is realistic and very honest about your situation and your odds, but he is never "doom and gloom". He is honest and positive, but realistic. That makes such a difference when you are going through the emotional rollercoaster of infertility. We are still working through some things, but there is no other doctor I would want counseling us through this. I can not speak highly enough about Dr. Moghadam, if I could give him 10 stars I would. Prior to Austin Fertility Institute, I had worked with several clinics and completed an endless stream of tests, labs, procedures, and surgeries in an attempt to find answers and prep for IVF. I wasn't necessarily unhappy with the clinic that I was with before but I needed to feel more confident before committing to IVF. After researching SART data for the clinics closest to me and speaking with a former patient, I decided to call AFI to get a quote on general costs and timelines. We scheduled our first appointment a month later and within 48 hours of meeting Dr. Moghadam, I was already starting medication to prepare for stim shots and egg retrieval. Dr. Moghadam is a straight shooter-- he cares so much about his patients and is invested in doing everything he can to help them start and continue their families. He is extensively involved in all the logistics of his clinic and can recite his patients' charts backwards and forwards. AFI also does more monitoring than most- yes, this means lots of waiting and numerous appointments but more importantly, it also more reassurances and fewer surprises. As someone who has had more than a few devastating surprises in a doctor's office, this was not something I took for granted. Dr. Moghadam's staff go out of their way make the IVF process more accessible and monitoring more comfortable- Jamie and Amy gave us all the tools we needed to feel confident giving stim injections and prepping for retrieval and transfer. It was also so helpful to complete lab work on site (as a fainter, I appreciated that they used butterfly needles when taking labs). Additionally, the surgery center is right next door- it's equipped with a team of truly impressive embryologists and scientists. The stakes are high with ART, and this team (especially including Dr. Moghadam) is performing miracles multiple times a week. Our baby miracle is due next month, our first transfer worked :) We have one more embryo in the freezer and we look forward to returning to Dr. Moghadam and his team when we're ready. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Dr. Moghadam and his staff. In our initial visit, he helped us understand our situation and layed out a clear plan for us. Aside from being knowledgable and articulate, Dr. M is undeniably fully invested in his patients. His mind and focus was 120% on us during each appointment. He was always accessible during the process by offering weekend appointments and giving out his personal number. Dr. M meticulously monitored how my wife's body reacted to the medication and adjusted dosages accordingly to ensure our path to conception. The cost probably varies depending on the type of treatment but there were never surprises. AFI's cost was undoubtably the most transparent of any medical experience I've encountered, for a change. It helped reduce the stress during our process. It was worth every penny, as our 1 year old is sound asleep as I write this review. No words can express the gratitude I have for Dr. Moghadam and his staff for a healthy wife and child. TLDR: I should have read the reviews first and not went with the first clinic that returned my phone call. Would not recommend. Now let me start with the good. Dr Crawford is really sweet and professional, and apart from the fact she was an hour late for 90% of the appointments I would highly recommend her. The IVF nurses, Jamie in particular, are amazing and would do anything to help you out and accommodate you. On the other hand, I wish we had never become patients of Dr Moghadam. I won't question the quality of his care because I feel like he did everything on the medical procedure side very seriously and tried his very best. However, his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. He would not let us get a word in during each appointment. He would keep talking about other cases of his during our appointments. I don't know if those cases had anything to do with what we were there for. He came across to us, and that's strictly our opinion, as egomaniacal and a know-it-all. He didn't bother reading the paperwork that we drove 7 hours to Austin to fill out in person per his request. He didn't bother read our lawyer's paperwork that was also provided to him. Then 5 days before the transfer we found out by accident that his plans on how many embryos to transfer were different than our plans (and what all the paperwork said). After a very heated phone call with him he offered to give us our money back and cancel everything. If we decided to go forward with the cycle, he was going to do what he wanted to do, and not what all the paperwork said. Unfortunately we had already spent a good chunk of money on meds so it was too late for us to back out halfway thru a cycle. Throughout this whole experience, I felt like he just wanted to get his way with everything, no matter what. Going thru IVF is a very physically taxing, emotional, and expensive experience. I know a lot of us hurry up and try to get it started as soon as possible. My word of advise is to spend the few extra minutes and do your research. read more

Keep in mind that this process is not for the faint of heart, its very emotional, takes a lot of time and your body dictates the paths forward. Dr. Crawford did a fantastic job helping my wife and I understand our options and setting expectations for what this process from IUI to IVF looks like. In addtion to her guidance her staff was extremely warm and welcoming to us each and every time we were in the office, which if you haven't already prepared yourself for it is ALOT. They helped with appointment scheduling, answering all of our questions and also taking the mystery out of insurance and cost for the process. As your considering this process the most important part is to be comfortable with who you chose to lead you through the process. I went to Dr. Moghadam's office Feb 2017 after struggling with infertility for about a year. I saw good reviews and that is what made me choose him. Which is why I wanted to write my own. First of all the office staff was not very communicative with me. I arrived 20min early and was not seen until about an hour and a half after my appointment time. Three different people arrived after me but were seen before me. That was fine. However when I finally got to see Dr. Moghadam, he overwhelmed me with drawing out the plan for me without getting much of my input other than my potential goal number of kids I would like (really focused on my age(mid 30's)). He then did what I thought was a work up on me with an ultrasound and blood work and had my husband go for semen testing. He said I was fine and due to my husband's sperm results I would need to do IUI for a few times then move to IVF. I got scared, didn't pursue, and researched how to boost/improve my husband's sperm. About a year later I saw a different fertility doctor who retested my husband's sample with great results. However I finally got to understand how a TRUE work up on a woman SHOULD go. About a week of blood-work and about 3-4 spaced ultrasounds later, I found out that there were some pretty big issues going on with me including a blocked Fallopian tube, low hormone levels and more. I feel that due to my "fast paced didn't really care about checking my health out" appointment with Dr. Moghadam I wasted another year of not being correctly diagnosed nor treated. I want to make sure that wherever you go looking for help with infertility, don't wait, get thoroughly checked out, and follow your gut & heart.
