Dr. Nicole answered a phone call in the middle of my appointment that I drove 6 and half hours for that was about an email. Doesn't care about patient safety because I requested for her not to be on her phone while in the OR with me, she said that she was going to. He was seemingly very annoyed when I had clarifying questions regarding medications and when I tried to bring up any symptoms I was experiencing. Would not recommend. I was very disappointed with my experience under Dr. Havemann's care. Several days prior to my procedure I was told Dr. Havemann would not now be available, and I was asked if a Dr. Tsai could perform the same procedure. I agreed. Dr. Tsai was great! After the procedure I was told that Dr. Havemann would follow up with me; that didn't happen. After I called their office, I was told no appointment was available for nearly six weeks. I had a very bad experience with Austin Gastroenterology on many fronts. One, the customer service was severely lacking. It was very difficult to schedule an appointment, get a call back, get answers to any questions. Two, the pre-procedure instructions were abysmal. I went through a procedure and the doctor had to abort in the middle because of food in my stomach despite having followed their instructions precisely. Of course, I had to pay for the entire procedure. Three, there was zero follow-up after the failed procedure. It took weeks to get a response and months to get back on the calendar. Finally, I went to do my next procedure and was given a cash pay price which I was prepared to pay. Then the day of the procedure they told me I had to use my insurance and I would have to pay thousands of more dollars out of pocket with insurance. This all embodies why healthcare is broken. Complacent practice, poor customer service, practice maximizing dollars over care, using the system to get more dollars rather than what a procedure should cost. Two tips, ask for a cash price and pay that rather than use your insurance if you have a deductible; and go to a different practice. read more

My situation was a bit unique, and because of the high level of attention to detail, Dr Chehl uncovered something that was overlooked by another physician from another practice I worked with in the past. Dr Havemann is wonderful as is the staff. Even during the covid 19 pandemic the office is fantastic. First off - its really very CLEAN! I was very impressed with all aspects of my experience at AEC Bee Cave. Without a doubt a 5-star experience. I've never reviewed any medical facility, but I thought this one was worth leaving a review. I tend to be a nervous patient and they were absolutely incredible to me. I felt like I was treated like a human the entire time by everyone in their kind, thoughtful staff. It really puts you at ease when you have people who care the way they do. I even had a small request that they immediately did that made the experience quick and painless. Here's the nitty-gritty: 1. Facility: Immaculate, pretty, and well-thought out. Easy to understand where to go. 2. Check in process: very streamlined, but we were the first patients in so that might have been why. Still, there's a sign-in pad where you check in first. Then the staff prints your paperwork and calls you back. 3. Procedure: This was my second Endoscopy, first with a colonoscopy. The staff did everything possible to help you feel comfortable and taken care of during the entire procedure. 4. Staff: Best I've ever experienced. read more

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy. The facilities and staff were outstanding with no problems. But Dr. Tsai proved to be arrogant, condescending, disrespectful, and rude. After the procedure, he spent less than five minutes explaining the results. We had several questions, and he sarcastically said "Can't you see this isn't my office. Make an appointment with my office if you have more questions." And walked away while we were still trying to talk to him. Dr. Reddy and her entire group are rockstars in my opinion considering I have undergone both a colonoscopy and endoscopy recently with them. I don't appreciate being moved to a different facility for my procedure the DAY OF due to a maintenance issue. On top of that, I now have to get a Covid test that I have to pay for additionally, I already took one prior to getting my initial exam. What's worse is they moved me to St. David's South Austin. The price for my procedure increased! Same insurance. Outrageous and I have to pay for the Covid test on top of everything? No thanks. Canceling the entire procedure. Waste of money on the prep liquid and then this happens. The fact that they didn't give me options and pricing options for another facility and that I was switched to this facility really upsets me. I had a procedure at the Austin Endoscopy Center on Bee Cave, Tx. There were 3 nurses (including the anesthesias) and the Doctor, all females in scrubs and surgery gowns, hair protectors and gloves, and there was a man sitting in the corner wearing khaki jeans, black fitted sweater, and converse. He was sitting in the corner on his phone, never looked at me. They went on to verify my name, dob, go over the procedure, then asked me, "Do you have nay questions?", for which I asked, "who's all gong to be in here, who is that?", pointing at this man. immediately 1 of the nurses got infront of me & introduced herself, the other nurses & the Dr, but never answered my question of whom was this man that seems to be a friend of someone just hanging out & not belonging in the room where I was just wearing a rob, no clothes and was about to be put to sleep. The man went around me, behind me & a door was closed. At this time he was not on my sight & I assumed he left. They asked me to turn to my left side so they can start my procedure, but I turned my head back to my right side to make sure this man was gone, but he was standing there in the dark corner quietly, not moving. I felt extremely creeped out, & uncomfortable! As I was turning my head back I was about to say I'm not comfortable doing this with this strange man that is being hidden from me, but immediately the anesthesia kicked in & I was asleep in seconds. Woke up in the waiting room & remembers this experience when I was being driven home. This is an experience no one should have in this vulnerable position. I was told it was casual Friday, & this was the Senior Scope Tech whom has been with them for over 10yrs, he looked like he was in his late 20's, early 30's the most. Also was told from the 1st lady I told my experience too, that everyone was required to wear the proper uniform/protectors during my procedure. read more

I'm New to Austin and finding a Gastrologist is very important for me since I have UC. I did a lot of research before finding Dr. Havemann. He is absolutely everything I thought he would be. Kind, knowledgeable, patient and let's you talk and ask questions he doesn't make you feel rushed. His office staff is on top of it. Paperwork, testing, returning calls etc... I went to Dr. Benjamin Havemann back in 2013 where is was obnoxious, rude to me and my husband, in a hurry and gave me no follow up. I avoided him until I ended up in ER in 2017 and was referred to him for stomach pain. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.. He actually says POO instead of bowel movement, BM or defecation. HE SAID POO AT LEAST TEN TIMES DURING THE VISIT. So condescending. Sickening. His diagnosis are not written in medical terms but says things like "all over the map". He is offensive, ill mannered, crude, and has infantile terminology and has no time to listen but looks at the time while tapping his foot. He is very arrogant. He screamed LISTEN TO ME, along w screaming POO and also said I should get a second opinion. He basically wanted my copay and had only 15 minutes and no time to waste on a Mexican woman with a cyclic bloating issue. Sadly I was referred to this conceited doctor by ER. Highly discourage PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING. Treatment and doctors sure no problem they were great and communicative. But one of the biggest burdens when it comes to health issues is finance. I got both an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Went to see the clerk and told me it would be 2500 and basically assumed i could pay it all. I dont like that. Thats a terrible assumption to make. Then they made me feel like $500 a month is the best they could do so i did it. Later i was told i really should have thought about what i can afford, n i am now living that truth. I literally told the collection rep who just called that after a job loss and a series of health issues paying $500 per month is out of the question. I told her specifics on my situatuon and asked u guys have to be able tondo better. Then she said i think $350 over 7 months. I pleaded with her with my situation and even told her i'm doordashing food on the side just to make it to my next paycheck. Even then i said that id be more than happy to make a payment arrangement. I asked her to please just give me the best she can do, as stated earlier to her im at work n dont have time for a cat and mouse bargaining situation. She returned and explained that $350 is the best they can do. She never even asked me how much i could afford which is $150. So i asked her since i can't pay ..what u guys will keep calling me even though u thoroughly explained my situation too? N she said yes thats correct. So instead of getting anyy money on file from me, which i was willing and SUPER nice on the phone even when upset, this business prefers not to work with your financial situation and ultimately furthering my stress i'm sure that'll do great when im already going through health issues. I dont blame the rep who called me. TAKEAWAY: AUSTIN GASTROENTEROLOGY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION. Dont worry Austin GE i'll pay you your damn money. I've found unique techniques to deal with my health condition and he is open to my exploration. I deeply appreciate his very prestigious background AND the fact he does not wear it on his sleeve. He could just as easily be your neighbor talking over the fence about life. Very relatable. His team is quite responsive and empathic. No tracking them down. They track you down. They really care. Both my husband and I had gone to Dr. Havemann for colonoscopies in the past and liked him a lot, thought he was a good doc and thought his office was very efficient. Very pleased with him. He referred me to another doc to get a LINX implant for my horrible heartburn. Had been on PPI's for 28 years and now have pretty serious osteoporosis. I had the LINX implant and started having issues and went back to the surgeon and he had no clue what to do about the complications so he referred my back to Havemann. I told Havemann I was throwing up with most meals could not go out to restaurants, carried puke bags with me and I was convinced my heartburn was back with a vengenance. He told me in a nasty way that "you can't have it both ways". Meaning with the LINX either it is too loose and you could have heartburn or the LINX is too tight and and that is why you would be throwing up. My husband and I both looked shocked that he would not acknowledge or believe me what I was experiencing. He said I looked good and not sick. Duh, the food was getting stuck on top of the LINX and it would within minutes have me puking the stuck food up. Went for another opinion and new doctor totally understood believed what I was telling him. He did further tests and yep I was having both throwing up and GERD and was told to have the LINX removed as soon as possible. I know everyone is human and can have a bad day but just was so shocked that Dr. Havemann would treat me that way, just showed his ignorance. read more
