Dr.s are great at what they do, haven't had any dissatisfaction s from the ones I see.

Altho' my 2 colonoscopies were fine, my attempts to speak to someone, anyone to get the general email address we're futile. Entirely futile. I tried all menu options except "Physician", which would be fraud. I attempted to speak to someone and get an answer from Scheduling, Billing, References, PA and went to voice mail in each of 9 attempts. None of the messages have been returned in over 3 hours. Came in today to set up a colonoscopy. This is something that I would not normally talk about, but my brother died at the age of 61 from rectal cancer. He retired at the age of 55 with a clean bill of health. Two years later he had to switch doctors. They did a colonoscopy despite him just having one two years earlier when he retired due to bloody stools. They discovered stage four rectal cancer. They gave him six months to live but he lived four years and it was a very productive four years. Rest In Peace my brother, I love and miss you tremendously. Because of that, I'm suppose to have one every five years, but it's been ten years. One at fifty, and now one at sixty. I'm hoping and praying for a clean bill of health. I didn't see Dr. Long today, but his assistant Louise met with me. We went over my medical history, and we talked about the procedure. She was very friendly, very professional, very personable, and totally awesome. After that, another young lady set up my appointment and explained what I needed to do prior to the procedure. The entire staff that I encountered today were friendly, professional, and awesome. Whether you're male or female, this procedure is necessary. Don't be embarrassed to talk to your doctor about it, as it could save your life, or it could cost you your life, if you ignore it. I'll let y'all know how it all goes in about five weeks. read more

If you like being treated like dirt, this is the place for you. I was referred to this place by my family physician. Austin Gastroenterology called shortly after to make an appointment to see the doctor. I agreed. They called back just before my appointment saying that the doctor was busy and couldn't see me at my appointment. Would it be ok if their assistant saw me. I agreed. I drove for an hour to get there 20 minutes before my appointment time. I arrive to check in and am told to fill out these papers and return them. I did and was told to fill out more paperwork and return them. I did. I was then told to go sit down. I did. After 15 minutes of watching multiple people come and go I went up to the window to see what's happening. I'm told that my medical assistant is running late. They can't give me an estimate of when I'll be seen. I asked for my paperwork back and left. It obvious to me that they don't have time to provide care to me. I'll look elsewhere. read more

Great experiences with this group! Went in for an exam to see whar was going on with gallbladder. The PA, Ms. Nguyen was very nice and attentive. Answered all my questions. I was going to schedule surgery, but had a terrible episode and ended up getting gallbladder removed. Dr. Long came and completed a procedure on me over in the hospital. He was super professional, nice, and the procedure was a breeze. Great practice! Piece of advice: be patient with phone lines. You may have to wait, but it's worth it. read more

Gut health is important. With 80% of your immune system located there, when it's out of whack, the consequences can be challenging to correct. My gut condition landed me in Dr. Chad Long's office. He recommended a colonoscopy and my journey to better gut health began. The procedure revealed that I have colitis, and we worked together, along with his nurse, Louise, to get the disease under control. What I like most about Dr. Long (other than the fact that one of his degrees is from the University of Chicago - a top-notch university and everyone knows how much I love this city!) are his professional demeanor and attentive manner. He listens carefully and orders the appropriate tests necessary before making a diagnosis. He prescribed medication based on tests results, not guesses. My body is thankful for this! His medical assistant, April, is diligent, knowledgeable, and simply amazing! I would be remiss if I didn't mention how amazing Louise is, too. I thank both of these ladies for helping me during my journey to healing. Colitis is one of those diseases that takes a long time to go into remission after a flare-up. I'm thankfully almost there. I just moved to Austin from SF and was so, so, so scared to leave my GI Dr there. She is amazing and the only one of many who has kept me from being in a constant flare. Thankfully, I found Dr Long who did his fellowship at UCSF under my former GI Dr. This gave me a huge amount of relief. I have only had one appt and one procedure with him but so far he is knowledgeable, kind, clear and has the best NP, Louise! I'd like to talk to you about Dr Singh. Before I do you have to understand that I am not the healthiest person and I have a fleet of specialist, so this isn't my first rodeo. You must also note that I am afraid of GI docs the way most are afraid of dentists. (Ever heard of the GI "handshake"?) Dr Singh is like no other GI specialist I have ever encountered. He has eyes that look right into your soul. He is soft spoken with a genuine humor that makes me wish we were neighbors so we could invite he and his family over for dinner. He explains things without talking down to you. And somehow he tells you to lose weight without the fat shaming. This doctor cares. Do you need someone to care about your gut and your well being? They never answer the phone. I've spent 20-30 minutes on hold three times and eventually just have to hang up because they never answer.

How do you get them to answer the phone? Seriously I have tried for 4 days in a row and am now waiting for over 40 mins. I've also filled out 3 online forms - zero response - this is all after being in the ER and them recommending me to them. I am super happy that I could be the first person to review this location. Let me first start by saying that I came here for a second opinion but boy do I wish I would have came here first. I made the mistake of seeing Dr Siddiqui in Cedar Park who belongs to a different Gastroenterology business. So when I saw that other Dr Siddiqui he listened to what I had to say as a 35 year old active male who was taking large quantities of prescription pain medicines which are known to constipate for over 6 years but with that information he did no testing no exam in fact he didn't even ask me any questions but he recommended an upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, well I am a waiter at one of the nicest fine dining restaurants in town and as it is my job to take you from a 30 dollar bottle of wine to a $400 bottle of wine, I also felt like this Dr Siddiqui was trying to up sell me and make money as I did not feel as a healthy active 35 year old male that I needed these procedures. So guess what I scheduled the second opinion its Austin Gastroenterology and boy was the experience awesome. I met with Dr Chad long who is an energetic nice friendly and extremely caring and intelligent human being, he will answer all of your questions listen to all of your concerns and he has a genuine concern for your health and well being. Needless to say after discussing my medical history with Dr long he decided that as a healthy 35 year old male I did not need a colonoscopy or an upper GI endoscopy and I respected his thoughts on that so much because he could have very easily recommended both procedures and made a quick $10,000 or more off of me as a business(but this doc is a gem, not greedy, he really cares, but he treated me like a human being and he did not recommend something I did not need, so definitely ask for dr. Chad long and Cedar Park he is by far the best choice in my opinion. He came up with an idea of what may be wrong with me prescribe me some very strong stomach antibiotics the target overgrowth of bacteria and I have a two month follow up and he gave me a bunch of great advice on how to become more regular and avoid this constipation... How wonderful it was to hear that after being in fear for over a month because of what this other idiot Dr Siddiqui said to me, but now I was ok because in reality what was wrong with me might be irritable bowel syndrome or just a lactose intolerance or the bacterial growth I'll update this post in two months when I go to my follow up, but I must say this guy is a true professional, a true class act, & a good human being someone who I would and will and do trust my health to. Thank you Austin Gastroenterology for giving me one of the best experiences and health care of that I've ever received in my life, everything from the initial phone call to schedule the appointment to the friendly lady that answered the phone and was caring and nice enough to add notes to my file, to the reception is staff, to the medical assistant- all the way down to the doctor you guys get a 100% A+ score thank you very much and you have my business for life and if you are smart you will choose Austin Gastroenterology for your GI issues as well. read more

I'm 21 years old and have had horrendous constipation and bowel issues for years. I've had mono twice and strep throat often and have struggled with anxiety... After seeing Dr. Stassen I realized just how horrible so many Dr's can be. After testing he basically just told me to take MiraLAX daily and sent me on my way. Only after I saw a Dr in Los Angeles who took my symptoms seriously did I realize just how pathetic Dr. Stassen's "Miralax" prescription was!!!! Received great medical care. Misled about costs. Mistreated by billing and sent to collections... I was very happy with the treatment I received and the medical outcome achieved from my recent procedure Dr. Chad Long and Austin Gastro. The total cost of the procedure was DOUBLE what was disclosed to me upfront. The additional fees were related to biopsies taken during the procedure. That triggered additional fees paid to the physician, the facility and to the lab/pathology. Between my added personal obligation (around $1600) and the insurance company paid portion, the biopsy added an additional $3500 to the total bill. While I realize that office staff can never fully anticipate all charges, in the current insurance environment, patients are more sensitive than ever before about cost. Most of us on are now on high deductible plans with HSA or Flex spending dollars that we self-manage, so medical budgeting is a necessity. I understand the biopsies may have been deemed medically necessary and I must respect Dr. Long's decision to perform the additional precautionary procedure. But I should have been informed of this possibility upfront by office staff. My procedure was not a medical emergency and cost was a significant consideration. I encourage anyone evaluating Austin Gastro who is using a self-directed funds (Flex Spending, Health Savings, etc) to review their billing practices carefully, discuss possible unforeseen costs and consider other providers who are more transparent. I encourage Austin Gastro to align their billing and cost disclosure practices with their excellent medical care. This was not a positive patient centric experience. My stress over the costs has overshadowed my medical outcome. read more

I was referred to Dr. Singh when my former gastroenterologist could no longer accommodate the volume of patients. I'm not normally comfortable switching doctors, but I'm really glad I did. The practice is very modern and conveniently located in Cedar Park. I completed most of my forms online and they use text messages to communicate. Receptionist was a complete jerk to me when I called to reschedule an appointment. Another doctor referred me to them but I wasn't given their information so I had to wait for a call. A week went by and they called me and left a voicemail. Tried calling back, perpetual hold. 3 times dealt with this. They would always call 10 minutes before they closed, which is during my commute home from work. Finally I pulled off the road while driving to catch their call. The woman acted shocked that I answered and was a pain about scheduling the appointment. But I got it scheduled for a month out. Flash forward a month later and my son needs an emergency dentist visit. Only time we could get in was at the exact same time as this appt. Called and was put on perpetual hold and a woman answered with attitude. Told her I needed to change a scheduled appointment as I have a conflict. She asked my name and dob. I told her that and what day the appointment was for. She began asking me insurance questions. Now I have top notch insurance and I was referred by a specialist, so there should be no need. But she refuses to even acknowledge my existing appointment until I go through all of my insurance information with her. Finally told her no, I don't have time for this crap. Told her I just need to find another day to come in. She told me I was telling her how to do her job. My response, "If that is how you feel, cancel my appointment, I will go somewhere else." Her response, "I can do that." I'd give zero stars if it was possible. read more

This is a review of their business practices, not their services. I have been a patient for many years and recently became eligible for Medicare. When they discovered my supplemental policy was an Aetna product they refused to see me and said I would be "out of network"because Aetna "refused to negotiate prices"with them, however if I had BCBS or Humana they would take me. I believe they are ignorant of the fact that all supplemental plans pay 100% of what Medicare does not, so how do you negotiate up from 100%? Aetna said there are no "networks" for a supplemental or Medigap policy, as did the Tx Board of insurance. My call to Medicare confirmed this. Is this just ignorance on their part or something else? read more

I'm a medical professional myself, so I am very conscientious about selecting a healthcare provider. I needed to be seen by a specialist after an emergency room visit and didn't need to wait. I was able to see Dr. Long the very next day after calling which is something considering my 48-56 hour work week. I didn't miss any work. We have been going to the doctors at Austin Gastro for many years. Previously, the process was easy and the service fine. This time, I called to schedule a colonoscopy for my husband. It was scheduled, I confirmed the colonoscopy, and my husband started the *delightful* prep today for his procedure tomorrow morning. I had called the office first thing to make sure there was nothing more we needed to do since no one had contacted us about the prep like they usually do. This afternoon, I finally got a call back, and was told we don't have a procedure scheduled, only an office visit, because we hadn't been in for 4 years. They couldn't tell me this when I scheduled? They couldn't tell me when I confirmed? The scheduling office really screwed up this time, and put my husband at risk as he is diabetic, and fasting for this screws up his blood sugar. I am livid, and will be calling to discuss this with their office manager shortly. Since I apparently can't give a no star rating, they get a one. Their service may be great - it always was in the past, but their admin process is so low in my book I am speechless. read more

My Dr referred me to Austin GI and I took one of the first available appointments which was still over a month out. I suffer from generalized anxiety and panic disorder and it's very important to me that I feel like I am a part of my healthcare decisions. When I explained to the assistant that I typically prefer not to give vitals because they are often high in medical settings, she said I didn't have a choice and put the monitor on my wrist. She said Drs are docked points if they don't get readings even though they don't really care about the readings anyway because that's for primary Dr's to worry about. When I saw Dr Long, I felt that he was very brief, rushed, and I didn't feel as though he really listened to my concerns. I was not really presented with any other options besides a colonoscopy. When I called on a separate occasion just to explain some intermittent pains I get after eating certain foods I was told to go have a CT scan. When I pushed the medical assistant for reasons a CT scan was needed and what the Dr was looking for, she said "you don't have to have it done besides if you are no longer in pain it won't show us anything anyway." I decided to get a second opinion at TDDC. At TDDC, when I explained to the medical assistant about my anxiety, she said she had worked with many patients like me, that it was common, and she even coached me through the vitals. The Dr at TDDC was excellent and explained other tests we could do before determining a colonoscopy was necessary. He spent a good amount of time explaining the tests, possible diagnoses,and gave me a few over the counter and diet recommendations to help give me immediate relief. That's the way it should be and I'm disappointed I spent so many months trying to work with Austin GI instead. I'm sure Dr Long is a great Dr, but I hope he considers investing more time in really hearing his patients concerns and perhaps gets his medical assistant some coaching in how to calm and reassure nervous patients. read more

The office of Dr. Chad Long is awesome! From the start I knew I was in good hands. I was greeted by a very nice lady, wish I had her name,, , she was super friendly and helpful, on to see Ms. Louise the PA who listened to me and all my woes for which there were many. We figured out a plan then off to see in my opinion the best front desk person EVER, Miss Diane!! I was nervous about the scheduled procedures and she explained every thing to me in non medical terms and in medical terms so I could understand which I very much appreciated. On the day before the procedures I was kind of a mess, super hungry and anxious, I prob called her a million times, ok maybe not that many but each time I called in my hungry and anxious state Diane was patient and calming with me. She is just the best! On the day of the procedure I saw Dr. Long and he was just as nice and cute as I remembered him to be from when I had seen him a few years before. I was referred to them by an M.D. for Diverticulitis. I had to wait weeks to get in after telling them I had Diverticulitis and was in a great deal of pain. One day before my appointment my colon ruptured and I had emergency surgery. I hear many Doctors say they are the best. But, you need to go before you get sick. When I finally did see them after surgery the doctor kept his hand on the door knob the majority of the time. He talked so fast I could not keep up. I explained I have short term memory issues due to a brain surgery and asked he slow down so I could take notes. He never slowed down for me. They gave me a time for colonoscopy. They called to confirm it was the next day and the date on my paperwork was 2 days later. They said I had to come but I couldn't since I had not done the prep work. I had a second surgery 90 days later so they decided to do the colonoscopy while I was prepped for that surgery. They never showed up for it. read more

Saw Dr. Long for an endoscopy. The front staff is friendly/helpful. For every appointment I've had there I have never had to wait long. Dr. Long is generally booked out a considerable amount of time. So good luck getting a follow up appointment with him in a reasonable amount of time. I had to pay $200.00 for the endoscopy up front. Insurance paid the rest. At no time prior or after my endoscopy was I told that I would incur additional charges. Fast forward to a month after the endoscopy. I received a bill from an unknown agency. They were wanting $150 and they said it was at Dr. Long's behest. I called up Austin Gastroenterology and discovered that because Dr. Long took some biopsies from me during the endoscopy, it cost money to have the biopsies tested. Not only that but they wanted an additional $50.00 from me as well! So $200.00 turned into $400.00, which again I was never made aware of these additional charges. This seems like a shady practice for a test that didn't even find out anything and I did not ask for. read more

I moved to Leander from the Dallas area almost 2 yrs ago and had been seeing a gastroenterology doctor there for almost 3 yrs with stomach cramps so bad that I could barely walk or breath, just prior to our move (and after numerous tests that kept coming back normal) I finally got a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis and then was prescribed the medicines for this disease, knowing I was moving I asked my doctor if he could recommend someone in Austin for me to follow up with and he suggested Austin Gastroenterology. Since my sister in law new where I was recommended she told me to go see Dr. Chad Long, so I called to make an appointment with him which took a little longer than I expected, but since that was the name I was given, I waited and boy am I glad I did! Knowing where I was going and who I was going to see I called my doctor in Dallas and asked for my records to be sent prior to my appointment date. The day of my appointment I was almost in shock because Dr. Long came in and started talking to me as if he had known me for years and had been treating me for as long! I was so impressed that he actually read my records and knew what problems I was having and that I wasn't getting any results, my husband came with me to this appointment and Dr. Long suggested that I had been misdiagnosed and laid out a plan to try and help me get comfortable and able to live a life instead of living in bed, within the first 3 months I had an endoscopy; very specific blood tests and the o so dreaded colonoscopy, because I had lost almost 70 lbs in about a 3 month period so I didn't want to eat knowing everything would go right through me. Turns out Dr Long was correct with my misdiagnosis, told us that I in fact was suffering from Crohn's disease, he formulated a plan and we put it in action. I feel like a person when we go see Dr. Long and not a number or just a dollar sign. I have recommended him to several other people and let them know that even though it may take a while to get an appointment to see him specifically, he is well worth the wait. I have also seen his PA Louise Wilson and you can tell that they both work hand in hand very well. I have perhaps had to wait a little longer than I might have wanted when I have an appointment, but I see it like this..Dr Long genuinely cares about his patients and so he spends as much or as little time as needed to help them and does not make you feel guilty for talking to him about what is going on, I am on the road to recovery and would not want to go to anyone else. Diane is always cheerful when you walk into the office, Melisa will do anything and everything in her power to help with insurance and any other issues that may arise and April is always willing to explain to the best of her ability anytime I have spoken with her. I felt hopeful and human with Dr. Long who in the first 3 months was able to find what other doctors wouldn't or couldn't find in over 3 years!
