We had seen the signs and passed by this store several times, we had meant to stop previously but never did for one reason or another so this time we just did so. They have a much bigger selection of products then I would have figured. Books on Texas and food, Candy both mass and local, mints, chapstick, tins, and Popcorn! There are the main flavors listed and they seem to have either monthly or seasonal offerings. There is a display of each bag size near the front filled with popcorn so you can see how much you get with the smallest to the biggest which is a nice touch. They have bulk candy and soda's as well. There is some neat and fun decor and a whole throwback vibe. It was a cool place to visit, glad we did. Chances are we will be back at some point, No other customers while we were there. The gentleman running the place was very nice and patient as we took our time looking over everything. My wife picked 4 types of popcorn and got small bags of each. I wasn't aware of AGP until I came across a review from one of my Yelp friends (thanks, Shannon G.). After seeing her many positive reviews and photos, I was determined to visit this place. I talked about AGP so much when I would go home that my mom got me a gift card for Christmas! I was finally able to stop by and try out this delicious popcorn on my trip home last month. Needless to say, I am hooked! If you love popcorn, you need to visit. From sweet to savory, they have all sorts of traditional and unique flavors. I sampled the Garlic Parmesan. It was heavy on the parmesan. Cheese popcorn isn't my favorite, so I didn't love this one. I ended up purchasing Dirty 6th which is a kettle corn made with hickory smoked sea salt and Extra Buttery. Dirty 6th was out of this world!! It was so good and unique with the hickory smoked sea salt! I will definitely be getting this flavor again! Extra Buttery wasn't bad, but it could have used a little bit of salt to kick it up a notch. They have quite a few sizes to choose from. I got a double of each which is the 2nd to smallest size. It's approximately 6 cups. In addition to popcorn, they have all sorts of sweets, treats, and confections. I ended up purchasing a couple of bags of Toni's Toffee. I got the Dark Chocolate Almond Toffee and it was soooo good!! The staff members were friendly and helpful with making suggestions on popcorn flavors. I had no idea they had a physical location. All I knew is that I had one of their goodie bags at my work retreat and wound up eating it when back in Florida. This was a major regret if only because had I know how delicious this popcorn would be, I'd have gotten more! Well, no matter. I took a photo of my goodie bag and searched online to find that I could get their popcorn delivered personally to my home. They happily deliver nationwide. Woohoo. I can get my Austin mix, which is composed of white cheddar and sea salt caramel. Yum. I can also try other flavors, but I'll stick to the Austin mix, seeing as I ordered a tin for myself and a sampler of four different popcorn varieties to send out in a care package to France. Not to be confused with Austin Powers Popcorn, which makes you scream YEAH BABY and gives you bad teeth, this company is Gourmet, which reflects that the Bush family will never run for another election, but Gore-may. It's pretty expensive and a lot of it tastes shelf-stable and some of the flaves are just disgusting. If you get one of the better ones, you're in luck, cuz it's actually pretty good. Depending on which kind you have. A lot of it is just crap is for hipsters and people with no taste - like if you think that cereal milk flavoured stuff is excellent. Other flavours are nice and for example the caramel type ones are good. I'm not a big fan of the chocolate they use on their popcorn, but it's the USA. There's no chocolate made here that's amazing and in fact there's hardly any that's even good. The prices are kind of high here as well. Having said all of that, it's really great to have a little local place making handmade popcorn small batches so I have to give them a good rating but I would raise them to 5 if they were a tiny bit cheaper and used slightly better chocolate - for example some of the imported Swiss chocolate is a lot better than whatever it is they're using here, but at least it's not as sh** as Hersheys. read more

I love this place! It's great for getting your own snacks or for getting gifts! I gifted my work family an assortment of popcorn; Windy City, Dill Pickle and Jalapeño cheddar. All of them were awesome (my fave is Windy City)! I finally took my husband there and he loves the kettle corn. They opened in fall of 2015, but I've just not finally had a chance to visit their store. Love at first sight. Love at first smell. And, of course, love at first taste. This is a store that makes dozens upon dozens of homemade popcorn flavors. Think caramel coated in dark chocolate, white chocolate and sea salt. Think strawberry cheesecake. Think birthday cake. And for savory, think srirachi lime, consider dill pickle, and try to taste cajun. Extraordinary. So fresh, crisp, flavorful, and unique. You've never EVER had popcorn like this. And in addition to popcorn, they have shelves upon shelves of unique candy that you will not be able to find anywhere else in Austin (in addition to specialty sodas) (see my photos). And they will let you sample it all. The staff is as friendly and as helpful as they come. They have great recommendations and know their products well. They do amazing gift wrapping (see my photo). We didn't plan on it, but we ended up staying almost 30 minutes (time flies when you're having fun). They don't have delivery, but you would be crowned Queen or King if you used Favor or Postmates to have Austin Gourmet Popcorn at your next quarterly meeting, baby shower, or in your holiday gift basket. Oh my! I didn't know what to expect, but this place is awesome. Sort of a cross between the candy stores at the mall, an old general store with a hundred different soda varieties, and of course Garrett Popcorn Shops in Chicago. The employees and owner were all equally friendly and genuinely helpful. They even explained how some of their unique flavors are made (like The Zilker). They offered samples, and patiently explained how many different ways they could package the popcorn depending on my wants/needs. Same thing with the candies. I think I'm going to make it my goal to try one of each flavor soda. I'll have to report back on that one, and figure out how to keep track! My next two popcorn flavors are going to be Banana and Mango Chile Lime. In the meantime, I'm pretty happy with The Zilker. read more
