I am clumsy, I walked in with basically zero confidence, and I'm pretty sure I invented a few new ways to make simple exercises look complicated. Somehow, Thomas never made me feel embarrassed. He just kept encouraging me, correcting my form, and convincing me I was capable of more than I thought. Against my better judgment, he kept telling me to do "one more rep" and "trust the process." Unfortunately for me... he was right. I'm down 12 pounds and 4% body fat, and the funniest part is I wasn't even following all of his instructions. (Apparently I was supposed to walk on my non-training days. I thought those were strong suggestions LOL) The gym is always clean, the equipment is well maintained, and all of Thomas's clients are nice. Everyone is encouraging, celebrates each other's progress, and makes the gym feel welcoming instead of intimidating. Now I have more energy, my clothes fit better, and people keep asking what I've been doing. So thanks for that, Thomas I guess. If you're looking for a trainer who can work with someone who's clumsy, lacking confidence, and occasionally "forgets" the homework but still gets results Thomas is your guy. Just don't expect to keep the same body or the same excuses.

(FYI - Gerry works with high school kids and even a 10 year old who is an eager new visitor. ) Not only do we get great workouts we have a really fun time together. I am almost 71, had a long term work related back injury which thru gentle initial workouts was able to completely heal and now do almost anything with my back. I have had bilateral shoulder replacements within last 3 years. After initial at home PT I had no problem going back to the gym and now am in the best shape of my life. I have a large garden and have NO trouble carrying soil bags, digging big holes, moving rocks. You get the picture. My husband, age 85 who works FT, works out with Gerry as well on Saturday mornings with the heavy lifting group. We have known Gerry for over 25 years and Paul has worked out with him for most of that time. I have been sporadic due to my health issues until my I got my new shoulders. At the age of 49, my daughter decided it was time for me to join her in a triathlon. I am an OK…read morecyclist, but a dreadful runner, so I figured a coach was in order. I found Coach John Bryan. That was three months ago. In the nine months before meeting John, I had injured myself at three times, trying to train myself to run half marathon distance. At the time we met, I could barely manage 20 minutes of non-stop "jogging" at a 13 min/mile pace, and that was my absolute limit. Three months later, with a shorter stride, better posture, and a quicker turnover, I just ran the Redondo Beach Superbowl 5K in 29:13. That's a 9:18 min/mile, and I was able to jog home easily afterwards. No pain, no discomfort. The improvements in my cycling speed are not quite as dramatic (because I wasn't nearly as slow to start), but they are still substantial: I've taken several minutes off my fastest times up PV East. Average MPH on long rides is up from 13 to 19. Swimming has gone from "I haven't been in a pool in years" to mile-long workouts. All of my progress has come from a remarkably compact training schedule. Most workouts are no more than an hour, with the exception of one (sometimes two) longer workout(s) each week. Mind you: the workouts -- even the short ones -- are challenging. He pushes. Hard. And then harder. But not beyond what he thinks a person can do. And there is always method to the madness, which he is happy to explain, for those who want to get into the details and the data. John listens to his athletes, he adjusts for struggles, and he builds on strengths. His programs are flexible and allow for periods of rest and recovery. FYI, John has a cute dog (Winston), who is happy to provide some distraction during some of the more grueling Computrainer sessions.

When my husband and I came in for the initial consultation with the owner, Bruno, we didn't feel any pressure to sign up right away, unlike other gyms. Because my husband was on the fence, Bruno offered us a free session in the functional fitness class that he recommended for us. Our trainer, Anna, was awesome and we were sold. The class is small, usually just 6 people max, so she can give individualized attention and modifications for the different exercises whenever it's needed. She makes it possible for people of varying levels and abilities to all do the class together while still being challenging for each individual. When I started, I couldn't do a single burpee. Now I can do several in a row without stopping. All this after just a couple months of doing class twice a week. The level of care and responsiveness here is next level. When the class recently started getting a bit crowded, Anna immediately went to Bruno and got an additional class time set up. The staff and the other members are all kind, friendly, and encouraging so it's a pleasant place to workout. There's no intimidation or competition, just good vibes.

Everyone there was friendly, they have a table for activities (good for staying social for the older seniors), they have a lot of classes (love fall prevention for my FIL), & the trainers are all friendly & knowledgeable. My FILs trainer is James & we love him! He understands my FILs limitations & works on strengthening but is careful with injuries he has. James is also super patient with my FIL, who is a big talker & loves clowning around! The gym is clean & my FIL loves the decor! The trainers are all certified in Senior Health, but don't let that deter you if you're younger than 83! The services offered are affordable for personal training & definitely worth the investment, especially when we're dealing with seniors.
