As soon we walked through the hallways to the room, all of the staff spoke and smiled. Our appointment was a referral from her PCP, and she was well taken care of by the MA and Dr. Ostegard. I also want to the thank the staff member who checked us out, as well as Savanna. I shared with Savanna how much I appreciated the kindness and professionalism shown by the entire staff. First, they ask all the questions to assess whether you are a good surgery candidate or a risky one, before even being seen by a nurse. No thanks. I clearly stated I did not want pain meds or injections. Since I wasn't a surgery candidate, I clearly fell into the pain-med-referral category for them. After declining being injected with anything, they still recommended I see the pain med specialist. No thanks. Finally, I asked whether there was anything wrong with my back. Nope, turns out everything looked good on x ray and mri. Good deal! Good bye. Pleasant staff, pleasant nurse. Helpful intake and inprocessing. Everything else is what's wrong with health care in America.

Crestwood Medical Center - My mother's hand bloody, bruised, and swollen. Allen has no idea how this happened and lied that he would get help!

It was Friday after 5 (of course) and I began having what turned out to be complications from a…read moresurgery that I had a week earlier. The doctor on call at my surgeon's office said that I needed to go to the ER. I avoid the HSV hospital zoo at all costs so I went to Crestwood. I know the staff is jaded. I know they've seen the absolute worst of the worst. They are underpayed, understaffed and just plain tired. But that doesn't take away the responsibility for them to show empathy and respect to all patients. After I was triaged by two nurses who barely looked at me, I sat in the empty waiting room for over an hour before being seen. (The nurse told me that it had been an unusually quiet evening so that wasn't an excuse). I was finally wheeled back to the exam room. On our way down the hall, the nurse said "you should have called your doctor". My husband told her that we did and he sent us here. Then she said "well you should have gone and sat in his office until you were seen". She completely discounted my reason for coming to the ER. The attending NP examined me and said the that the procedure that I needed was too dangerous to do in the ER. He sent me home with medication and told me to see my surgeon Monday morning. (My surgeon could not believe that I was sent home). I ended up having emergency surgery Tuesday morning. By then I had additional complications from having waited so long. I do wonder if that would have happened had the NP put more effort into trying to help me - not just pass me back. Crestwood has been our hospital of choice since we moved here. Since the CEO Pam Hudson left, the hospital has gone downhill. This slide has been gaining momentum and now, what used to be the premiere choice, will finally crash into the big circus in town, HSV hospital. My most recent encounter with Crestwood was not stellar. Sadly, I doubt my next will be any better.

Now that they are expanding I look forward to less crowded ER visits nearer to my home. The Crestwood doctors practices are all North Alabama. Give your body the care it needs with Crestwood.

Crestwood Medical Center - Allen was NOT authorized to throw away needle. Must be by nurse/doctor. The gloves were mine; after I cleaned my mother's face and hand.
