This place is a joke. I have had 2 crowns put on at this place and both have broken. 1 in 6 months and the second in 18 months. They use crap materials and expect you to keep paying to replace the crown. At almost 500 a crown that's insane. Save yourself the headaches, go elsewhere. read more

I love this place! I have been a patient of Dr. Smith's for about six years and could not be happier with the care I receive from him and his team. When I first moved to the area, I was having trouble finding a Dentist that didn't feel as if they were trying to sell me something. I found Dr. Smith to be authentic, honest and over the six years I have been seeing him, he has never once suggested any procedure that was not obviously warranted. Everyone is always so kind, patient and professional and though I am normally only there a couple of times a year for cleaning, everyone always recognizes me and gives me a warm welcome - by name - when I walk through the door. Every procedure I have had, including routine teeth cleaning, has been performed efficiently and with an extraordinary level of gentleness. I never thought I'd care how a dental office looked/felt but I'm always struck by how beautifully decorated and calming the entire place feels. Dr Smith was my dentist for 7+ years. Unfortunately I recently moved out of state. I could not leave without writing a review commending the wonderful service I received from his team all around. Just before I left, I had to receive some extensive dental work. It was last minute and Dr Austin and his team made every effort to complete my work. I have been seeing Dr Smith and my hygienist Donna for over 20 years, since I was a child. I find them to be quick, professional, and friendly. Donna always remembers that I have a small spot on one tooth that is missing enamel and so she uses a plastic tool instead of the metal one there. The one time I had a small cavity, the staff knew that I had never had any kind of procedure before and they were kind and understanding. Dr. Johnston now works with Dr. Smith and she was great during the procedure even though I was a big wimp! read more

Dr Smith was my dentist for over 20 years. He is high tech and his staff (before their exodus ) was excellent. I trusted him completely. He performed crowns and emergencies during this time to my complete satisfaction, but his staff cancelling a much needed cleaning with a 5 month wait was unacceptable. So I've switched to another dentist only to learn that Dr Smith didn't acknowledge my gingivitis and left me with periodontitis a much more severe condition. Shame on you Dr Smith! read more

Terrible Dentist, and staff isn't better than the Dr. Smith, it's true they have top of the line technology and are able to put 3 crowns in minutes and doesn't bother to treat your teeth because Dr. Smith is very good in covering up infected teeth and decays and after he is done with the crowns he is good at writing letters and telling you to find another Dentist because ,,only him know what he did in your mouth,, this happened with my wife Lidia ( she is like a lamb, kind and gentle) she never upset Dr Smith or his staff, I did upset them once when I said,, please work gentle in my mouth and don't touch my gums because I don't heal fast, and Dr. Smith got furious then I apologize and we become friends again and he continued to work in my mouth and removed few old crowns from my mouth and right after that he put new ones, the technician named tanya has hard times when she tried to take measurements with their top of the line devices ( tanya she screwed up by telling me that the electric device is not able to take measurements when your gums are bleeding) the machinery is very smart but they are not, they take chances, after they work in your mouth they put crowns right away they don't care if your gums are inflamed or swollen, they have one desire only,, MAKING MONEY FAST, this happened not only with my wife but with me as well, we both needed to go to Dr. Stover to remove my crowns because was open space under the crowns and my wife almost died she was all infected and needed root Canals in all crowns Dr. Smith put on, he got paid more than $6000.00 with American Express card and drained our dental insurances, ,,,,, I'm a Christian and God tells me to not talk bad others But is hard, this Dr is a Disease for others, we came in America for a better life and he is making life miserable for others, I do have letter from Dr. Stover who removed his crowns and put new ones and Dr. Smith is refusing to return the money, he is disastrous PEOPLE RUN AWAY FROM HIM read more

My wife and I have been going to this office after moving to Olympia 3 years ago. After our first visit and many more since then we have been impressed with the office staff and quality and experience of the dentist. It is truly one stop shopping with up to date technology in making their own crowns to teeth cleaning. We have recommended this office to several friends so that's why they get a 5 star. read more

I thought this was a good office for me and my daughter but the incompetence and thin skin of the office staff is ridiculous. My ex wife always takes my daughter to her dental appointments. The office staff would not correctly collect co-pays at that time. When they called me over $34 I explained that in my honest opinion I think it's unprofessional that the office doesn't know exact amount covered by insurance. Any other industry you get a bid and that's what you pay. You don't get a bill a month later stating you were over charged. I did not swear at this lady at all on the phone just stated my disappointment in how they do business and what I consider unprofessional. That was a couple days ago and today I received a letter of resignation as my dentist as evidently his people don't like hearing the truth. read more

Dr. Austin R Smith & Dr. Nicole M Johnston's offices are extremely incompetent when it comes to billing for services covered during a patients benefit year. Resulting in me paying for unnecessary procedures. In addition to taking two office visits to attempt to 'fix' my bite from a filling they had recently completed. Needless to say, I will not be returning where I'm treated like a human guinea pig. Nor to an establishment that seriously needs their billing practices thoroughly reviewed by an insurance auditor. read more

I have been going to Dr. Smith for years and always spoke highly of his staff. I went last week for a crown replacement and found it odd that every single staff member that worked for Dr. Smith for years was gone, except maybe one... Everyone there is new. The crown that was replaced, broke in half a couple days later, so I was back having it replaced it again. Dr. Smith came in to talk to me about the broken crown and explain what he thought happened and I was simply asking questions. I was curious myself how it broke right down the middle in half. His conduct at that time became so unprofessional, hostile and passive aggressive to the point I was questioning if it was safe for me to stay. The environment felt toxic and he was yelling at me how rude I was for asking questions. I overheard him making fun of me to his assistants, "What does she think she is, an MD or something... " I can not express any more clearly, that I was only asking questions out of curiosity. His conduct was unpredictable, erratic, and made me feel very vulnerable/unsafe as a patient...Sitting in the chair wondering if my treatment was now going to be compromised. I will not be going back, nor will my husband or several friends that I have told of his conduct. Clearly having a total overturn of staff most likely strongly correlates with the unprofessional and very uncomfortable behavior I witnessed yesterday. read more

My opinion is based on my experience. Dr. Smith R Austin III is fine as a general dentist. But he is NOT cosmetic dentist. He does not know how to prepare your teeth for crowns. He filed my teeth down so bad that now I need build up for all of them to make them strong enough for crowns. I wish he would be just honest and told me that cosmetic dentistry is not his field. Never ever I visit his office again. read more
