We booked a family stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe for myself, my wife, and our six-year-old…read moreson. A few days before our trip, our son was diagnosed and tested positive for RSV. I called and asked for a reservation modification given the circumstances, and I was completely open to alternative solutions: a date modification, Marriott Bonvoy points to rebook on our own, a refund, or anything reasonable. We just wanted some flexibility. What followed was the usual runaround. We called the Ritz-Carlton directly, they told us they couldn't help because we booked through American Express. So we called Amex, whose concierge team was empathetic and professional. They reached out to the Ritz-Carlton on our behalf. After waiting 24 hours and following up, we were told that Ritz-Carlton management responded via email and declined to allow modifications to the reservation and still expect us at the property unless we pay a $750 cancellation fee. We presented a positive diagnosis of a contagious virus, were willing to accept any reasonable accommodation; a date change, points, anything, and the answer was no. This raises a serious concern beyond our personal frustration. If the Ritz-Carlton would rather a family show up carrying a contagious virus than accommodate a date change, what does that say about their commitment to the health and safety of their guests and staff? How many other sick guests have they pressured to check in rather than lose a night's revenue? What about employees who may face the same inflexibility when they're ill? For a brand that markets itself as the gold standard of hospitality, this experience seems like the opposite.

When you book a stay at a high-end luxury resort, you expect top-tier service, exceptional dining,…read moreand attention to detail. Sadly, this property fell far short of those expectations. Dining Experience Extremely Underwhelming There are three dining options on-site: * A Mexican restaurant that operates essentially like fast food you stand in line, order at the counter, receive a number, and seat yourself. Paying over $100 for what amounted to street tacos of fast-food quality felt unreasonable and excessive. * A lobby restaurant with average offerings. * A so-called "fine dining" restaurant that was far from fine dining in both quality and execution. For a resort at this level, the culinary experience should be a highlight, not a regret. Breakfast Buffet - A Complete Letdown The breakfast buffet was honestly the biggest rip-off we've experienced at a five-star resort. The food was stale and cold, the selection was minimal, and even basic items like croissants tasted old. After paying over $200, we left basically with half a latte and the kids having hot chocolate. We returned to our room hoping to order room service only to be told we couldn't place an order until 11:30 AM. Service & Facilities The staff members themselves were friendly and polite. However, the overall service was consistently slow. There were also noticeable issues in the room: * Cloudy water from the sink and bathtub. * Low water pressure in the shower. For a property positioned as a luxury destination, these details matter. Another reason we booked this hotel is I read this resort is very family friendly and accommodating for children. We do have two small kids however any time we tried to go to the kids club no one was there. We had to ask multiple staff where was the kids activity and no one could answer. Then some of the events got canceled with no replacement or activity for the kids. The hotel was filled with families and many kids all around. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the staff remained courteous, and during our visit there was a snowstorm for two of the days, which understandably led to some understaffing due to road closures. That said, weather-related challenges do not excuse the quality of food, pricing structure, or basic room standards. At this price point, expectations are high and they should be. Unfortunately, this stay did not deliver the luxury experience we anticipated.

Our wedding was held outdoors in the Lower River BBQ area of Truckee Regional Park. All couples will tell you how important food is for their guest's experience but not many will go on and on about how important sound is. Yes I am a self proclaimed sound snob. I have hosted many large parties and know how quickly a bad sound system can ruin an event / how incredibly frustrating malfunctioning equipment can be. Getting a system to sound good indoors is hard enough / getting one to deliver outdoors is a whole other level of complexity. Our needs for our special day were a pretty demanding list: we needed to be mic'd up for our ceremony / needed amplified sound for a guitar soloist (and voice) / and needed a high level system at our reception for our incredible DJ. In addition to a tight set up window we also needed all the equipment broken down and hauled away late at night. Crux delivered on all levels. Zero feedback from our mics during the ceremony - our voices were easily heard by all - and our DJ was able to keep our feet moving all night long with no equipment issues. Thank you for helping to make our's the "best wedding ever".

Stop searching and just hire Taylor and her team with Revel and Rye to plan your wedding already!!!…read more Hiring a wedding planner in Lake Tahoe is a high-stakes decision: you need someone experienced, professional, and knows the ins-and-outs of the wedding industry in Lake Tahoe. Taylor, Christy, and the Revel and Rye team executed our vision flawlessly for our June 2025 wedding, and we couldn't be happier with our decision! From the Introduction Call, Design Board meeting, and regular check-ins with Taylor, we were impressed with how responsive she was to our questions, and she even met with us in person to tour venues together. We didn't have to worry about a single thing! We decided to have our ceremony and reception at a State Park, which presented a huge logistical challenge with an extremely limited time of 2 hours to set-up a venue for 80+ guests from scratch! Taylor successfully coordinated with all of our vendors to create a beautiful ceremony and reception space, that left our guests in awe! The best part about hiring Taylor, is that she takes great pride in her work and is passionate about what she does! She's not just a wedding planner - she is a Creative Director, and we were so amazed at the ideas her team came up with, from wedding favors to signage, based on our wedding vision! Afterwards, we received multiple comments about how smoothly everything went and how every detail was thoughtfully executed. It allowed me and my husband to truly be present on our wedding day. You will be in the best hands with Revel and Rye!

She was professional,…read morekind, personable and made you feel comfortable about the whole wedding plannning process. Jessica is very organized, detailed oriented and knowledgeable about everything wedding that she made the whole wedding planning thing seem easy! My fiance and I were so impressed after the initial consultation and knew we had to have her as our planner. Right after we booked OUATE, my fiance and I had a meeting with Jessica and basically told her everything we wanted, what we didn't want and what we dreamed of having but didn't think we could afford. She also had us fill out a questionnaire to get a sense of our style, get to know us and get an idea of what we envision for our dream wedding. After reviewing everything we gave her, she created a design board with everthing we had talked about. I loved how we got to go thourgh and point out what we liked and what we didn't like. This gave us a great sense of what our wedding was going to look like. Since I had a very hard time picking a theme and staying with that direction, this really helped me get on track and focus on one thing at a time. This also really helped me stop stressing and feeling overwhelmed and let me enjoy the wedding planning process. As a bride, I knew I wanted to be involved in the fun stuff but not the boring, budget related stuff. Jessica was amazing at handling all the stuff I didn't want to do or did not know how to do. We gave her our total budget and she planned around that very well and helped us stay on track. She also did all of the orders (which were a ton since we had our wedding at private estate and had to bring everything in) and delt with the most of our vendors. She has a great working relationship with a ton of wedding vendors in Reno that she was able to get things done and get them done fast! And she had wonderful recommendations for our wedding vendors. We loved them all! During the whole wedding planning process Jessica and her sister, Cassie kept us on track and made sure we were getting things done when they needed to be done. I loved how they took all of my ideas and wishes and made them happen without any questions. The whole time, they were professional but so nice and fun to work with! It made wedding planning a lot of fun! The day of the wedding, I had absolutley nothing to worry about. I sat in the house and got ready while Jessica, Cassie and her team set everything up and dealt with all the vendors. The wedding was not too big but the whole production of it was a lot! We had a ton of flowers, a fire pit, a dessert bar, photo booth, a lounge and a ton of details such a signage and personalized items. Jesssica and her team were so organized and executed everything PERFECTLY! It was above and beyond anything I had even imagined. They took my vision to the next level and made it better than I could had ever wished for. Jessica and Cassie kept the wedding on track the whole night and everything went off witthout a hitch. My husband and I nor our wedding party or family had to lift a finger, it was amazing! We got to spend our time enjoying ourselves while OUATE delt with everything else. Jessica, Cassie and the entire OUATE team are amazing!! They made planning our wedding an absolute joy and I would HIGHLY recommend them for wedding and party planning.
