This is a great store in downtown Austin, selling fun gift items, apparel and non-cheesy Austin souvenirs. It's worth a gander if you're in the area and/or if you're shopping for souvenirs, but don't want to get another, cheaply-made shot glass for loved ones. I visited Austin Rocks, as I was in the area and had some time to kill. I was unsure of what exactly what was in the store, but just knew that they had Austin gifts, as indicated from the name. If there's anything I hate more than another souvenir shop with cheesy graphic tees, shot glasses and mugs then it's receiving a gift from another souvenir shop with cheesy graphic tees, shot glasses and mugs. So, I was pleasantly surprised with Austin Rocks. Items here were quirky, eclectic, fun and unique. These are the kind of souvenir gifts that loved ones wouldn't mind getting. Staff were happy to help, yet didn't pester you around the store. Items were organized and fully-stocked. And there's something for everyone here. Austin Rocks is a great store in downtown Austin with gifts for all, including yourself. read more

Got gifted a t-shirt that was the wrong size by my niece. They refused to exchange it because the receipt is over 10 days old. You can get over priced souvenirs from lots a better places in Austin. Best to avoid. read more

You'll find this place easily enough as you wander downtown: just watch for the flaming guitar pick proclaiming "Austin Rocks!" on the side of the building. Inside you'll find clothes for men and women (including "western wear" -- gotta get them pearl snaps for proper street credit), jewelry, and a lot of musical accoutrements, so ogle away you amateur musicians! I don't know if this is the best place to buy an instrument (they erred on the side of flashy vs. functional), but I am not musically inclined so I couldn't verify that for you. Everything leans toward $$$, which isn't a surprise since they cater at least somewhat to tourists with lots of souvenir stuff. Anyway, if you want to fit in with the hipsters, check this place out. This is the perfect place to buy Austin themed souvenirs. They also sell cute gifts. They carry bags, vintage rock and roll shirts, cards, magnets, candles, mugs, just to name a few. We came here to browse before the Rebelution concert which was happening across the street at the Moody Center. I highly recommend stopping in. read more

Great boutique with awesome products. Best in Austin for tourist to get unique Austin merch. They have a ton of amazing band Tee shirts, tanks & novelty tees. This is a great store, whether you are looking for souvenirs or not. Yes, they have all kinds of mass produced Austin and music related merchandise (including ACL), but they also have cool clothes, and my personal favorite, the awesome jewelry (steampunk and more) and accessories (hair clips, wallets, etc.) made from things like guitar strings and recycled bicycle tire innertubes. These are hand-crafted, upcycled items made by local artisans, and that I love to support. read more

Cool shop with a hip vibe, albeit a little pricey. They have some really cool ACL stuff and other music related items. Cool tshirts and other clothes and some unique little items. It's definately worth a visit if you're walking around downtown and want to do some browsing. The associates come off as a little uppity, but that didn't really bother me. They knew I wasn't buying, just browsing. Keep it weird Austin. read more

I got some cute jewelry from this shop, they sell cute gifts and clothing. Possibly overpriced, but when you are in a hurry looking for gifts to buy its quick and easy mixture of things. The store itself is neat and everything is laid out and easy to see. The one associate there before closing however was rude and inattentive, almost as if he didn't give a crap about this job. I'll be walking right on by next time I'm in Austin. read more

Long over due review, haha. Saw this shop when my friend and I were wandering around Downtown Austin, however, it wasn't open so we swung by the next day. This store contains a bunch of cool stuff, from apparel to pillows. I bought a bunch of postcards and a guitar pick. The staff were so nice, Anthony and Karina. They were really helpful with giving me more insight about Austin's art scene, since I wanted to view their awesome murals all over Downtown. Anthony and Karina gave me a lot of information about this cute little city itself. They also gave me this cute reusable tote from their sister store Toy Joy, which is on the next block. (Which you definitely have to visit as well.) Next time you're in Austin, make sure you peep this boutique shop, you won't regret it. read more

The associates act as though they are above their shoppers- lucky if you are acknowledged for even being in the store -- act as though the overpriced cheap clothes cant be bought somewhere else for less $$$ --- merchandise is tourist priced and quality insufficient. To bad they weren't on south congress , they would of been closed by now--- horrible service, selection and prices- spending my cash elsewhere - they would get a zero, but that's not an option read more

My sister came into town for a weekend of fun and frolic. The first thing we did was dinner downtown where the balsamic and oil dipping sauce jumped tight into her white shirt!! We went from there straight to Austin Rocks with our shirt emergency!! Anthony was super helpful and picked out the perfect shirt!! Though it was right at closing time (ok a bit after closing time) he was fun and patient with us while we waffled and second guessed each shirt we tried on, finally deciding on the one he picked out right when we got there. Everything is cool, everything. They have a changing room and baby shirts and swimwear and dresses and sweaters....etc etc and this is not a cheap tourist crappy store. I didn't have enough money to get the things I wanted, but they have a sale rack! read more

BIG time tourist trap. Most of the items can't be worn outside of a concert hall. And you have to have MONEY to spend here. Unless you come in looking important, the clerk is going to hassle you. read more

Went to the grand opening of this place and loved it! Great selection of rock in roll shirts for females and amazing jewelry. Right across the street from ACL Live, so it's perfect! Located in the same building as City Hall so parking was a breeze. read more

Awful customer service, employee was talking on CELL PHONE entire time I was in shop, i was never greeted or acknowledged. Very rude. Just because I am a teenager does not mean I should receive any less customer service than anyone else, even saw an adult stand in line with a "one moment" finger being held up to her, eventually she put her items down and left the store, as did I read more
