This store has a cute setup, don't get me wrong. However it's a lot of boutique brand stuff you can find in other stores in Austin like A-Town except here it's pricier. The clothes are cute but most of them are terrible wholesale quality. I almost bought a boho kimono here marked for $48, then a couple days later my sister found the same kimono on the wholesale app Wish for $3. The products are hit or miss, I would pick based on brands you actually know like True Grit or others that they sell. My biggest turnoff however is the staff. The staff here is a JOKE. I live in Austin and have for many years and I love visiting the SoCo strip. However EVERY single time I come in the staff circles like vultures like they expect you to be stealing, except NONE of them greeted me or gave assistance. It was just stuck up younger college aged girls gossiping and following people. I'm 25, I'm not far off but I know how to treat people in a retail enviromment. It turns me off from going here and going to the other SoCo stores and going to Burnet when I want my boutique fix. Plus A-town gives wine and cookies while you shop. read more

I've actually been to the location in Dallas, and I found this location even more fun. You'll find all sorts of stuff for your boho lifestyle, as well as local/Texas products (I bought the book "Guide to Texas Etiquette" by the inimitable Kinky Friedman). Products are on the pricey side, which deterred me from buying more. Still, it's a worthwhile place to stop on SoCo. read more

I am a longtime South Congress resident. I do not like the addition of this store to the block. There are two kinds of stores on South Congress. Those who appreciate that there is an entire neighborhood and community around them, and those that pander to goofy tourists just eager to look the part in Austin. When I told a clerk here that a shop that had been on South Congress since 1991 was moving, she could not have cared less. This makes me think that Gypsy Wagon is the latter. This store has overpriced stuff that pander to newbs overeager to get "the Austin aesthetic." It just seems like a weak attempt at the cultural appropriated clothes that Burners now avoid. Why? Because ripping off American Indians is just sad. I also wonder if Willie Nelson gets any money off of the multitude of South Congress shoppers who buy stuff with his face on it, but probably never listen to Willie. Anyway. If you want to truly look bohemian, go to a thrift shop like the ones that USED to be on South Congress. Then, you can take the $100 you saved on these basic threads and give it to homeless people. Or musicians. Or beer for friends. Or anything but what they sell here. Honestly, I would probably be less harsh if the clerk didn't look and speak to me like I was annoying her. Attitude like that just makes me sad, and shows why people say "Austin is never going to be the same." This store is realllly cute and has a large amount of cute little nick nacks along with some cute vintage style clothes but holy moly they are pricey like $75 for a tank top call me cheap but that's straight loco! They have a lot Of little things that you can forsure find elsewhere for 1/2 the price. The staff seemed nice but it's a bit frustrating that all of them keep asking to "hold your Items up Front" when all I had is a hat in my hand but I could just be being a biznatch with that part... but yea pricy but great place to get ideas of some cute decor/outfit ideas! read more

This place is cute and kitschy. It's like etsy/pinterest exploded and had a store baby. It feels like the folksy cousin of Urban Outfitters (less offensive, but still tons of pillows, funny stocking stuffers, etc.). A lot of tchotchkes, not tons of stuff that you'll hang onto for longer than a couple years. Good for little gifts. Lots of quirky, blog-popular kind of stuff (tea towels with sayings on them, cutesy ornaments, quirky cards, funny onesies for aunts to give their nieces and nephews, etc.), cute, but similar to other shops on south congress. read more

All manner of cute things for your home and attractive accessories and apparel for your wearing pleasure. I challenge you to spend some time in this store and walk out empty handed.....p.s. I handily failed that test but I least I practiced a modicum of self control and put back a pair of earrings, settling on a cool beaded lariat necklace for NYE. It's true I did feel watched while shopping there, which I wouldn't have minded so much if anyone working there had asked me if I needed any assistance (which I did, I wanted to see a necklace the mannequin was sporting). Perhaps they should look into those security sensor tags and some video camera equipment. read more

I bought a Dog Collar and can not be 100% on the date. How ever the collar has no hard ware. (Called when I got home that day and the girl on the phone said bring it back and exchange it when ever I could) My fault for not checking before I bought it. Never the less finally remembered to bring it back. The manager who was not understanding let me know with out a receipt or a idea of when I bought it could do nothing. Made me feel like as a customer in this shop I was not valued. Poor experience and I was a customer who shopped often for gifts when a birthday or holiday season was upon us. read more

I came here while on a work trip in Austin. I googled unique shops in Austin and this is one of the first ones to come up. Lucky for me they had a 60% off sale on a handful of racks so I did some shopping! Super cute store, and very nice/friendly girls working there. A little on the expensive side for sure but hit up the sales! I ended up getting two beautiful dresses for around $100 total. Andwhile my fiancé, who was with me, didn't necessarily agree-I think I got a good deal! read more

This place needs to be thoughtful about social justice issues. First, the name itself is a problem. The staff (when I was there) are all young, very sweet but very Caucasian folks. It is not like there is anything inside that honors people of gypsy heritage. There is also problematic Native American appropriation in this store - so much so I asked one of the nice people working there if they could relay to the owners/managers that etsy made, non-native dream catchers and native looking jewelry is actually so thoughtless - especially when native people make art they could sell here instead (and support native made). It was very sad for us to see this store' items. It really is time for a different consumerism that supports original artistic communities of color - please think about changing your merchandise. read more

I love their selection of goodies from t-shirts to cute mugs and beautiful jewelry. The selection has something for every trendy girl out there. The only downside I would say is they are priced too high but I'm sure it's because of the location. I bought a necklace, two midi rings and a tea towel for $190. I would have bought way more but all the stud earrings I liked were $32 and up which is ridiculous. I'll definitely go back periodically though and it's a cute place to buy gifts to show your Texas pride. read more

If I won the lottery, I'd be one of the really irresponsible people who spends it all on one thing and my one thing would be everything from Gypsy Wagon. For real: from gifts to cards to candles to mugs to the cutest clothes ever to the coolest jewelry ever to succulents to baby things.... GYPSY WAGON HAS IT ALL. Some of their things are WAY expensive, which is my only complaint. The women who work here that I've encountered have always been very kind and helpful. The location means battling through tourists, but whatever... stand your ground. read more

I discovered this adorable shop when I lived on SOCO. I would stop in ALL the time. I have picked up some adorable things for my apartment! This is the perfect place to find a present or silly gift. My mom and I went to the gypsy wagon and had a blast! So many cute clothes, accessories and things for the home. Prices vary enough so that there is something for mostly everyone. The staff was exceptional as well! I wish I got the woman's name, she was so helpful. I will be back often to check out the new selections! read more

Worst return and exchange policy. I went in with a gift I received about a month ago. They refused to give me store credit because their policy is 2 WEEKS!!!! I've never heard of such a short time frame to return & exchange items and was shocked they wouldn't make an exception to give me store credit for a gift I received. It's a shame because they do have cute home goods and trinkets but I will never shop their again. I can always check it out and then find the items on the internet for less anyways. read more
