What a great experience so far. Requested information via the Yelp projects and John from Austin Simply Fit reached out promptly. Scheduled a call to review my needs and was able to get into Eric's schedule for a Friday assessment. The gym is quaint and quiet, I've driven by a million times. The parking is a bit odd, a few spots up front where you have to reverse onto S Lamar when exiting...sooo that can be a challenge. They have parking in the rear of the building which is great however there is a single entry way and well, not sure how multiple cars could park and get out. Just know your reverse skills need to be on point. The gym inside has everything you'd need and since it's not open to the public it's just the clients and trainers. That means no waiting for machines and no one looking at you while you're there. Eric is great, he's very easy to talk to and made the whole experience easy. Upon arrival we walked through the questionnaire filled out online to find out the why behind the personal training inquiry. He then did a body scan for weight and fat %, took blood pressure three times as well. Gave a quick tour of the gym and how things work then it was onto the physical movement assessment. Nothing too crazy, range of motion and flexibility tasks. Took an hour for the initial visit and came back the next day to finish a few small exercises then learn the warm up needed prior to sessions. No membership needed as you buy the session in backs, 5, 10, 20 and can be used how you want. Like that there's no long term contract to sign. Session will start in the next week or so with focus on building/repairing the base/functional imbalances before getting into the fun part. Time will tell how this goes, wish me luck! read more

She also shares helpful tips to make sure I don't injure myself and keeps the sessions fun yet challenging. Nick Deluz has truly changed the way I think about fitness, health, and strength. In the past year working out with him as my trainer 3x a week (from February 25-February 26) I lost 15 pounds... now it's May I've lost 20, but honestly, that is only a surface component of the impact I've felt. More importantly, I drink so much less without really noticing, I eat better and I've built muscle and carved out a lean version of me that's much stronger and less achy than the me I've known for so long. I feel stronger and more stable in my body than I have in my adulthood, and it really does make me feel like I have more energy. I think because I do. Nick's approach goes far beyond just "working out." He has helped me improve my stability, mobility, posture, and overall strength in a way that feels sustainable and deeply functional. It's also just so pleasant to work out with him, I never dread the gym because we go hard, but not so hard that you just want to get out of there, and yet the results are still great!One of the biggest changes I've noticed is in my shoulders and neck. I've had long-time sloped shoulders and neck tension that used to bother me by the end of every workday, and now I'm moving through my days essentially pain-free. Nick is thoughtful, knowledgeable, humble, encouraging, and incredibly good at building a program around your actual body, your goals, and your life. Just started my personal training experience here. My trainer Amanda is awesome. She takes time with me to make sure I know exactly what I'm doing, shows me how to perform the exercise and pushes me through the workout. The gym equipment is all well maintained. The gym is small but there's only trainers and their trainees so at most there's about four other people in the room. For me this is absolutely great. I like the locations as well. With one near my house and one near my work there's always a way for me to get my workouts in. I have really enjoyed my experience so far. Looking forward to the progress I'm looking for. read more

I've worked with several trainers over the years, and Nick Adams quickly turned into one of my all-time favorites. I was incredibly apprehensive joining a new gym and finding a new trainer, particularly during a pandemic. However, Nick always listens to me, providing encouragement and support every step of the way. He checks in to see how I'm feeling and pays close attention to what works and doesn't work, tweaking my program as necessary. Nick is flexible and has moved his schedule around more than once to accommodate me. He is also very open to incorporating things I actually enjoy into my program, like kettlebells and ropes. After a training session with Nick, I always leave feeling accomplished and energized! Other things in general I like about ASF: friendly and welcoming community, great location (central), nice facilities, plenty of parking and appointment only, so it doesn't get too crowded. I am SO happy I found this place. I have never worked out regularly in my life but now in my early 60's, my doctor told me that the quality of my life from here on out will have a lot to do with finally taking care of my body by exercising regularly. that site finally tipped the scales for me... This place is close to where I live and work, and the brief, 30 minute workout is easy to fit into my schedule. The gym itself has a chill, calm, "professional" vibe to it. The trainers are both friendly and businesslike, and I like that a lot. I am going three times a week, which is unheard of for me! David at Austin Simply Fit made my pants fall off! (Wait, that doesn't sound quite right... I'll explain in a second) OK, here we go. I have a health issue that makes my life interesting, and one of the effects from it is that it is very easy for me to gain weight and very hard to lose it. I've actually been doing a fairly good job on losing weight, but I wanted to do more than just get lighter, I also wanted to get fitter. And David has helped with that, considerably. He helps me work out with free weights, machines, and other equipment, and talks me through my "whiny-baby" moments, which are frequent and annoyingly high-pitched. He's always positive and pleasant, and he's very good about scheduling and honoring his commitments. So, as far as the whole pants thing... slowly but surely, I've been getting a bit smaller. While my arms aren't totally tight yet, they aren't super-flappy like they were for a while, there, and my legs are looking pretty good. But my waist has showed enough of a difference where I'm going to have to buy a whole bunch of new pants soon, because they won't stay up and I don't always like belts. So if I am walking kind of fast or dancing or something, I have to be very careful to keep my pants hitched, because otherwise everyone's going to see my (much nicer) butt! All things considered, it's a pretty awesome problem to have. read more

First off, I completely trust her approach which is to teach proper technique and good body alignment so that none of her athletes get injured. I hate to workout. When I started with Jay a couple of months ago I could not walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. After being put on medication for hypertension and diagnosed as pre-diabetic I decided I had to get my s together. I have been meeting with Jay twice a week for almost 2 months and really enjoy it. First of all, I am not a yelper...and don't usually take the time to write reviews about businesses or people unless I genuinely feel over the top excited about the quality of service or care I have received from them. On a whim, I bought a groupon for ASF and went to the Leander location having not read the fine print on the pass...which was cool because I got the meet Mark, the owner and he gave me a fierce workout and sent me over to the Burnet location to work out with KT (who this review will really be about because she is awesome!) KT texted me before our first session, and I immediately felt excited about working with her...I could tell that she was very personable and super encouraging. When I showed up, KT welcomed me to the gym (which is a space that is usually intimidating to me...I'm a yogi, not a gym rat) and I felt very much at ease. She was, as I suspected, very personable and has a great disposition. She is also insanely knowledgeable when it comes to body awareness and how to push me just beyond my edge without overdoing it. I have to say that my one session per week at ASF is a highlight for me...and paired with my yoga practice, I can already see (and others can too) visible changes in my body after just 7 or so weeks! I feel stronger than ever! I'm also a massage therapist, and having built more strength, I can work more effectively without hurting myself...it's awesome for those really busy days at my job. "I will not accept mediocrity" That is one of the mantras at Austin Simply Fit. And as a client of ASF, it fits perfectly for what I want out of a gym. I showed up in mid-February at my highest weight, ever. I felt lousy, uncomfortable. My dad had just passed away a month earlier and a one-year relationship I had just ended. It was definitely time to make some changes in my life. There is so much that I love about this gym, but the best part is the feeling of community that Mark sets in the gym. You walk in, and any number of people are saying hi. I do the small group classes, and I have gotten to know quite a few "regulars" in my classes. We push each other, cheer for each other when we set PRs, suffer together and achieve together. As for the actual workout regimen, it fits me like hand-in-glove. The strength building classes are intense but incorporate a good amount of variety to keep you on your toes. The dynamic conditioning classes are challenging and fun and incorporate timed intervals with weight-based exercise. Sometimes the weight is your own body weight, sometimes it's resistance bands, and sometimes it's sandbags or dumbbells. It's always fun though. When I walked in for the first time, I couldn't do a sit-up, could not hold a plank and definitely couldn't do a pushup (full or modified). 3 months later, I can do plenty of ab work and can hold a plank over a minute. I just did my first real pushup in years and the inches are falling off of me. I'm looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with ASF! read more

So we started coming here about a month and a half ago (I've worked with Brendan and my wife with Molly) and this place is great. The sessions are cheaper than my wife would pay at Lifetime or 24 Hour Fitness and the interaction is much more personal. I've already lost 10 pounds and look a lot better. For the past two years I have been struggling with muscle imbalances and muscle holding patterns that have resulted in severe nerve pain and diminished athletic ability. I started working out at Austin Simply Fit in January 2013. I started with Mark and he was awesome! He paired me with Meryl Carey and i've been training with her three times a week since then. Meryl is phenomenal! Her attention to my form, breathing and ability makes the workout great each time. I have gotten stronger faster than ever before with these 30 minute workouts. It's fast paced and that makes it easy to do 3 x per week. As far as scheduling, Meryl is great about keeping my schedule. If I need to re-schedule, we find a new time that works and she emails me an updated Appointment Change reminder. Their system works great with my planning. Meryl's super friendly personality is great to work with. She is able to push me while still being a positive friendly person each time. A couple of times, I've trained with Brandon Morr as well as Meryl was out of town. Brandon is an awesome trainer as well! Brandon was in sync with what Meryl and I had been doing in my prior workouts. I didn't feel like they skipped a beat during the substitution. I work out for 30 minutes a week. And I'm stronger than I've ever been in my life. That's thanks to Mark at Austin Simply Fit! He's taken me from "can't lift a bag of groceries" to "challenging strangers to arm wrestle". Thrilled with the results we are seeing in my daughter since she started training with Sierra. She's a senior in high school and now I wish I would have gotten her into this gym even sooner. We could not be happier with the results. Not only physical results you can see in her muscle definition but also in her level of play as an athlete. I've long heard that lifting helps to prevent injuries out on the field, but it's great to see her increased confidence and improvements as a player since starting at this gym only just a few months ago. I am recovering from back surgery & working with Brendan at ASF as part of my recovery process. Brendan is attentive & creative. He is always learning new processes & sends me pics/videoes of stretches. He asks how I am each time I come in & makes changes to the workout as we go along. I've now been going to ASF for about 3 years - so they are obviously doing something right. My trainer for the last 2+ years has been Brendan Morr who I like. He knows my limits and I let him stretch me. This gym suits me great and I have no desire to change at this time. I have been training at ASF with Brendan for over 4 years. Throughout that time I have done everything from weighting lifting, competitive powerlifting, boxing to general conditioning.
