A very good hotel with a wonderful round lobby bar. The pool is epic with a "swim in" to covered pool. Nice lounge furniture and a covered lounge area as well. There is a steam spa, indoor hot tub, and workout rooms with cycles and stair machines. Honestly it's the accoutrements of a resort and all very lovely. The rooms have a minibar fridge and maybe a little bigger than "standard" studio size as although we had two double beds we had a sitting space with a lovely India style high back chair. The decor was good: Not recently remodeled and yet not too old. The restaurant was pretty "standard," nothing really standing out. It's service was good even though there was a convention in the building. It's probably unfair to call it "standard" as they have interesting touches on how they make a hamburger (I recall they call it a western burger or cowboy burger). I think it's more of the decor being professional, well built, but vanilla. read more

The hotel is under renovation and staff was nice but has SBS, Sick Building Syndrome. They should close the facility until renovations are done. the lobby had an old odor and a staff was spritzing the carpet with a cleaner of some sort, I presume to break up the smell, (it was not carpet cleaning). The elevator smelled of pot. The hallway on the 3rd floor smelled faintly of a mix of smells, then the room smelled of old residual smoke and something. We should have just left, but had dinner and a late night. We both woke up middle of the night to the smells, headache, nasal drip congestion and itchy eyes. In the morning, we got a refund for the second night and checked out, and had no "newly renovates rooms" for us. the oak tree courtyard has amazing trees. We're both already feeling better out in the 90 degree humid pollen of Austin. read more

This hotel is in transition from being a Marriott to being a Hilton. And it's at the start of a significant and much needed refurbishment. Lots of wear and tear, but not dirty. The TVs are not fully functional, many options on the menu don't work, the program list doesn't work but the stations are still available, special features like Netflix or YouTube or Internet TV don't work. But I was assured that this was eventually being resolved as part of the transition. I should note there is NOTHING in walking distance. Including restaurants, markets or public transportation. They had a very limited menu at the restaurant, and the small market had very limited "grab and go" options. That's the one thing that they really should work on that wouldn't be dependent on the physical remodeling. Despite my somewhat negative comments I would stay here again if the price or location make it desirable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Once the refurbishment takes place it would probably earn 5 stars. read more

Called the day of and prior to this trip to line everything out then to have to personally switch out the pillows because of down allergies in the family after it was already on my reservation but was clearly...(- 1 star) Needless to say I have learned a valuable lesson. This hotel is old in my perspective. In NEED of a Reno if Marriott is the brand behind it. First the issues we encountered. -Down pillows on our bed at check in (serious down allergies in our family) thankfully dad checked and carries EpiPens -mold in the shower bath ( didn't call Down because I thought they would move us to smaller room and we were here for 3 days) -Mildew smell in the fridge storage cabinet. Probably from wood getting wet and not able to fully dry. (See pics) We had a short stay here to visit the area. Previously we stayed at Marriott nearby and Springhill. Chose this location due to indoor heated pool. The toddlers loved the sauna and my wife enjoyed the workout facility. The layout of the Jr suite comped upgrade suite was definitely appreciated. I almost got into the governors suite...but I would have been VERY disappointed to spend that kind of money for similar room issues. Breakfast was pretty decent at the Onion Creek Grille. Phenomenal service from Antonia should be commended!!! Tall African American gentleman in the gift shop should be commended . The room cleaning staff all very friendly and accommodating. The gigantic commons area and doesnt make anyone feel crammed. This hotel location is findable and surrounding area has quite a few food/entertainment via the highways. After a multiple short talks with Lauryn she calmed down my feelings that this happens all the time the pillows mishap..(She should be commended! She is the reason we didn't check out immediately after checking in... ) Lauryn Should be in upper management if not already... I wish her the best in her future endeavors! Somebody did call to say they would add some points to my account. Haven't seen them yet and don't know how many... But next time someone else gets out business. This is a nice hotel. I was surprised to find out that it is part of the Marriott brand. You can tell this used to be an extravagant hotel. It's not bad now, but some things are a little bit rundown. Overall, this is a lovely place. They have a beautiful large pool. The exercise room overlooks the pool area. They even have a sauna! My room is decent . It could use a remodel, but at least it was clean and comfortable. They closed down their restaurant for breakfast hours. Instead they offer a little breakfast bar within the market. 2 stars? 3 stars? Maybe somewhere in between. I arrived very late; my room was a corner on a high floor so maybe it was a bit bigger than other rooms. I had already checked in online so my mobile key was ready. Had a quick conversation with a very nice young man at the front desk before heading up to my room. The room was a bit musty and the carpet felt wet. Air conditioning was struggling. Found a long, black hair (not mine) on my "clean" shower towels. Thinking that this place could use a bit of an update. The lobby seemed nice enough but I didn't hang out nor check out any shops or restaurants on site. The area is a little confusing to get to as a tired tourist. Might consider staying elsewhere in the future. read more

This hotel is disgusting. All the treadmills in the fitness center are broken and you slide on them when trying to walk. Apparently the only rooms they had available were adjoining. The ice machines on two different floors were broken. The staff is very polite but the hotel itself is run down, dirty, and apparently roach infested. Yes,this is an older hotel, but it is undergoing renovations. The price is more than fair, it was under $100 a night after taxes, and I have a king bed in a balcony room. The furniture would have been super fancy in the 1990/2000s, so it's just tired now. Still in good shape, just not all slick and modern like everything right now. The bed is to die for, great mattress, linens are great quality and the pillow assortment is nice. Staff is wonderful, I was having remote trouble last night, and the maintenence guy came up. Turns out it was operator error so we had a quick remote control class (the 5 button is the enter button for channel number input). Bartender was great, front desk folks were super polite. Although older and eclectic, our stay here was very comfortable. Some said it reminded them of casino decor, and that is probably a good way to describe it. We stayed 2 nights. Room was very clean and they came by to clean and replenish supplies just like in the "olden days"! I really appreciate that! Bed was comfortable, bathroom products very nice, lemony. Comfortable reading chair, desk, beverage fridge, iron (no board though), hair dryer. Interesting little sunken bar area in the lobby was always busy, and you could order food from the restaurant. We got jalapeño poppers, 8 for $15. Lots of cozy seating areas. Saturday night by the pool they set up an outdoor bar, and a private group had some dance music going. In the late afternoon they came by with a little cup of frozen grapes! So nice in the 100° heat. We found all the staff to be very friendly. Also enjoyed the fruit-infused water in the lobby. The hotel is in a park-like setting but unfortunately right by a freeway interchange so pretty noisy. Bring earplugs. Huge, meandering pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and workout room available. The restaurant seemed pricey so we didnt eat there. There's really nothing close by either, but folks order in or Uber out. read more

So with reading some mixed reviews, I went ahead and gave this hotel a shot and my goodness, I'm glad I did, they exceeded my expectations (and I'm a bit picky) Very clean, inviting, great customer service the minute I arrived til departure, and they have a deelish pasta bar /restaurant that was top notch. ACL fest always gets me excited for Austin! The not exciting part? the hotel prices. Finding the Omni on Expedia for $215 a night seems like a bargain compared to a lot of the downtown, SoCo, East Austin hotels which were easily going for $300-$450 a night. Gone are those days when I would splurge on hotels Just. Like. That. Love the amenities that come with this Omni -- especially the pool area. October in Austin still assures me 90 degree weather and a refreshing dip in the pool is a great way to wake you up! Or you can use their gym to work off that BBQ :) Our room was standard size and had a comfy bed. We were given a room facing the freeway on the second floor near the admin office. It was quiet enough since this is a business hotel, but we occasionally heard toilets being flushed from upstairs and the airconditioning would make a loud hiss here and there. Overall, the room was clean but is desperate need of update and brighter lighting. Do not miss the crab cakes and a stiff gin based elderflower martini at the hotel bar. Besides, you'll be hard pressed for food options around the area. There's no walkable food places in Southpark. read more

Austin Southpark Hotel is a blast from the past and I liked it. Being there was like staying in a hotel that was really magnificent in 1990. Definitely not aesthetically pleasing to everyone, but count me in! My husband and I were some of the unfortunate souls with a cancelled flight out of Austin on a Sunday morning. American Airlines put us up in this hotel, and we arrived before 8am on Sunday. Despite arriving so early, the clerk at the front desk was able to get us in a room right away. She explained that our credit card would only be used for incidentals, but that they needed one on file. Ok. She gave us information about meals sold in the Onion Creek Grille Restaurant, pool availability, etc. She and her coworker were super friendly. We take our key cards and luggage to the 12th floor. Not a bad room, but pretty dated. Room included the amenities we needed like a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Bed and pillows were comfortable and clean (despite finding little bits of glitter in the sheets). Don't expect frills here, though. You won't get them. My husband tested out the pool and hot tub, while I sat on the patio. We enjoyed both. We left the patio area before it got really busy, but it seemed to be a popular place. It looked like some people rent rooms just to use the pool. Guess I can't blame them in the 105 degree Texas heat. Friends of ours also had a cancelled flight and spent the night at Southpark Hotel. When it got too hot to just sit outside, we moved in to the front lobby area and chatted for a couple of hours. We visited the gift shop, which has a nice assortment of anything you might forget. My husband grabbed the last of the sunscreen and we got a bumper sticker, as well as some drinks and snacks. Very friendly staff working in the gift shop. We had also decided to try the Onion Creek Grille restaurant for dinner, which had recently reopened inside the hotel. (See my review just for the restaurant.) The hotel also has an ATM, private FREE parking lot, funky round sunken bar in the lobby area with big tv. Complementary orange infused water was also set out in the lobby for guests and I enjoyed looking at all of the live plants located throughout the lobby. It was nice to see live plants amongst the dark interior of the hotel. High-speed wifi cost us $9.99 for one device. And this is where my review goes south...because we had a 6am flight, we needed to be out of the hotel by 4am. We went to bed pretty early on Sunday night and I was woken up by the guests in either the room next to us or below us; some females being extremely loud between 11pm-3am. Every so often the they would be hooting and hollering for about 30 minutes straight. I think I got 2 hours of sleep that night. We used a white noise machine, which muffled a lot of it, but the noise was just ridiculous for a Sunday night. I didn't complain because we were staying in the room for free. Had we been paying or needed to stay longer than one night, I would have requested to be moved. As other reviews mentioned, the hot water does take a while to heat up. Let it run for 10 minutes or so. The hotel room itself felt to us like it was progressively getting more stuffy as the night went on, and more humid. We got up a couple of times to turn down the a/c. When we initially walked into the hotel on Sunday morning, there were lots of beer bottles, glasses and cigarette butts outside. I assume these were picked up later in the day, as the entry would have remained trashy looking otherwise. Based on the conversations we had with other guests who checked in and out when we did, American Airlines gives this hotel a lot of business. I think it would be great if Southpark could at least reserve a few floors of the hotel just for guests who are coming from the airport (yes, there were/are that many of us). Disgruntled and tired, looking for place to rest for a day. Most of us don't appreciate having partiers next to us on a Sunday night. We also saw a security card in the lobby at 3:30am when we checked out. Probably standard protocol. While I wanted to give the hotel 4/5 stars, I just couldn't. Not after the horrible sleep we had. I think I would still recommend the hotel if you're looking for a more inexpensive place in Austin with amenities. Air condition was out and they failed to tell us before we booked so slept horribly in an 80 degree room. This hotel has serious issues. Attended a conference here this week and let's just say, I'm glad I didn't pay for my stay. First thing I noticed is a large part of the lobby blocked off with black curtains and screens, behind which is a huge hole. Plumbing issues. Okay, I get it, happens everywhere. First day of the conference, I sat next to a woman who said she showered the night before, and promptly experienced a visit from hotel staff. Apparently, taking that shower "flooded" the room below hers. The men's bathroom near the ballroom was also experiencing weird issues. There was a small metal pipe coming out of the ceiling over the sink area constantly dripping water. The last day it was no longer a drip but a steady light stream. They piled a bunch of paper towels in the sink to help catch water and lessen splashing, but it looked cheap and half ass. Lastly, my room. It was a nice room with a nice view. Only problem was the room was ridiculously humid. My towels NEVER dried the entire week I was there. Not only did they not dry, they stayed flat out WET. My sheets also had...that feel...an uncomfortable dampness. Overall, I've always thought of OMNIs as VERY nice hotels; this one, however, has some work to do... read more

We stayed for 2 nights NYE weekend because we we're in town for basketball games at the college. I wanted a hotel with a bar that we could stop at after the games without dipping into the wild New Year's Eve scene of Austin. (I'm old and boring ok but not dead yet) This place was even nicer than I expected. It is definitely an older hotel that has not been renovated as you can tell from the older style rooms but it is still incredibly nice and comfortable. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. The bar is in the middle of the lobby where there is some great seating available with plants, TV and pool views. The pool is heated and due to the warm December weather had quite a few folks swimming. We checked out the restaurant but didn't eat there. Snagged snacks at the lobby shop. Parking is easy and free. I stayed at this hotel for a conference and it would have been a more enjoyable trip if it hadn't been at this hotel. After waiting in a long line to check in, we were told they would not accept our checks provided for the rooms from our company because they would have had to be mailed in a month in advance. The guest room was run down and dingy in addition to having not been updated in who knows how long. The next morning I discovered the espresso machine was broken in the coffee shop and they only had drip coffee. The restaurant closes at 2pm and after that you can only order food from the bar which is very small. I called down to the front desk on my last night to get a late checkout and they said it would be fine, when I went back up to my room the next day to get my luggage the key didn't work and I had to get a new key from the front desk. Finally, while this hotel is not far from downtown it is in an industrial area and not at all walkable. Definitely not worth it for the price. read more

Stayed for 2 nights over Presidents Day weekend for about $120/night, which is a swell deal for an Omni hotel, especially in Austin! PROS: -Good value -Clean, modern, spacious rooms -Friendly service all around -Cheap drinks at the lobby bar during happy hour 3-6pm, $2.50 beers! -Free self parking -Nice pool and gym -Downtown Austin, Congress St, and Rainey St just a few miles away. CONS: -In walking distance of nothing -Freeway noise can be heard through the windows, but its not loud. While not in the most convenient location, this Omni is a short drive away from some of Austin's main attractions. Just be careful if you drink and drive, or take an Uber/Lyft. read more

I booked here because it was mention as 'new' on their website- which I thought meant 'renovated' from previous reviews I read about this hotel being a little dated. If there were any renovations, thicker or updated windows to block out the freeway noise should have been one of them as the noise kept us awake all night. As our stay progressed It was clear this was a New Addition/ acquisition to the Marriott and not a New hotel as of September 2022. The bedsheets had stains - another issue to add to the sleepless night as they were pushed off the bed The hotel is like a slice of time stood still, which gives it charm and character but unfortunately not more else going for this Marriott hotel. Any hotels by the airport leave a lot to be desired due to location but I would not stay here for more than a night. I made up for lost nights sleep on the plane. read more

I made the mistake of trusting TripAdvisor on reviews of this hotel!!! I don't understand why it has so many good reviews on TripAdvisor. It was maybe a nice hotel in the 80's. The entire hotel is falling apart and it just plain feels gross. From dirt and grime and scum in every corner of the room and elevators and the slimy film visible on mirrors and surfaces literally EVERYWHERE, you're gambling by staying here. I'm frankly surprised that Marriott will attach their name to this hotel. The only good thing about this hotel is the price. But it's truly NOT worth it. We picked this hotel for the pictures of the indoor/outdoor pool based upon recommendations from TripAdvisors "top 10 hotel pools". It was an utter failure of judgement on my part and I'll never trust reviews from TripAdvisor again! The pool did have an indoor area yes, the size of a kiddie pool, filled with dead cockroaches and dead crickets and floating TRASH. The sauna was a size of a closet and probably not been cleaned since Reagan was president. The flaps to swim under to get to the outdoor pool appeared chewed up by an animal, and I wouldn't order my worst enemy to actually get into that pool to swim. Most likely you will get some disease or at the very least, hand foot mouth virus. Apparently all the other guests felt the same way as there was one other person poolside and he was simply sunbathing on one of the ratty beat up sun chairs. I've never been more appalled. If my son hadn't had been exhausted after our travels we would've left. It's in a precarious part of town, the parking lot is like being at a Walmart in West Virginia and if you have any common sense or sense of personal awareness, you keep your head on a swivel in a place like this. Very few guests, and no amenities at all really. A nice price tag sometimes is not the best choice. I trusted TripAdvisor for honest reviews. Not doing that again. I tried to fill out a review on THEIR website and it kept getting flagged for content, meaning you can't say anything negative about TripAdvisor. This hotel wasn't bad at all. It was conveniently located near the highway and near the airport, I believe. The staff here was very nice and they seemed to want to accommodate guests as much as possible. The rooms were very clean. I didn't see any bugs or have any bad experiences. The cleaning staff was also accommodating and was friendly providing fresh towels and sheets even after they had previously cleaned. The room did have a humidifier in the room which gave me the impression that it may have smelled old and stale without it. Another issue was that there were not enough outlets to charge my devices and there wasn't adequate lighting period. Also, I don't recall coming across a gym, but that couldn't been an overlook. One thing I didn't like about this hotel is that the bar was in the lobby and it gave the hotel a social feel but it also was just ugly on the eyes. Everytime I walked down I didn't really like seeing a lot of people drinking right smack dab of where check-in and the entrance was. True to Omni brand in some areas, but needs a shove in the right direction for others. My king bed was comfy and overall the room was fine, although a bit outdated. The bathroom tub (ugh; who uses hotel tubs unless you're somewhere like the Ritz?!) was extremely worn. Thankful there were no issues with standing water (other reviews), but the hall was noisy and the walls are thin. I could hear every door open and close. No smell of smoke until bedtime. Not sure where it was coming from, but there was the faint smell of cigarette smoke (yuck!). No issues with customer service. Parking area needs better lighting. Standard hotel food; not bad. The hotel was clean and multiple seating areas was appreciated (chair/table w/lamp and separate desk/chair/lamp area)so that's a plus. Fine for a quick stay, during a long week of business travel, but will def look at other options next time. read more

This hotel is fine. The rooms are fine. The pool is fine. The location is fine. It's a perfect 3, truly. However- let me warn others before they make the same mistake I did. Do NOT use a third party booking agency for this hotel. They simply do not know how to handle it. I stayed here in October 2024. Was scolded at the desk for using a third party booking service, was told it was "a good thing we have a room for you", and had to prove I had already paid the fees. All of which I did. Cut to a month later and I am charged AGAIN. Another 700.00 which, I had already paid. It took another month and a half, multiple phone calls where I had to argue my case and send multiple emails proving that this money was already paid. After having to state my case multiple times and being asked by a manager "who told you you were getting a refund" I was refunded. It is now January 2025. I am A THOUSAND miles away from Austin, TX and I have JUST been charged 600.00 dollars. When I called to inquire, the staff knew nothing about it or why it happened. I now have to argue my case for a third time, 3 months after my stay. I have essentially paid this hotel over 2,000.00 for what is a tarted up motel 6. Just be wary if booking through any other 3rd party site and at least be ready to be charged willy nilly for no apparent reason. read more

Location Location Location. That is what is important for this specific Omni. We have stayed here a few times over the past four years. The primary reason why we stay at this Omni is because of it's proximity to St. Edward's University. If you call them directly and tell them them you are a parent/relative of a St. Edward's student, you can get a slightly better rate. This location is also convenient to the Austin airport. It is only about 10 minutes away. Downtown Austin isn't that far when it comes to physical distance but you will have to fight I-35 traffic to get there (it can be brutal). Although downtown isn't that far away, it can still take 20 minutes or longer to get there simply due to traffic. I've seen mixed reviews for the rooms here. We have never been put in a room that wasn't clean and up to date. The a/c has always been cold and the beds have always been comfortable. I personally have always been greeted warmly by friendly staff. They even helped up get three adjoining rooms for our stay. Granted we called them well in advance but when we showed up a couple months later, we had three rooms that were together. They do not have free breakfast. We did eat at the restaurant for breakfast on one morning and it was quite expensive for four breakfast buffets. In the future, we will probably not utilize the hotel restaurant for meals. Bottom line - Great location for St Edward's University and the Austin Airport. My experience has been positive with the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. The staff has always been helpful. We have no reason to give them less than four stars. read more

This Omni Hotel is literally 10-minutes from downtown Austin. The room we stayed in was old-school stuffy, but clean. (I've yet to see one of their renovated rooms.) Our flatscreen didn't appear to be HD, but that could have just been because I'm horrible at operating AV equipment. The entertainment selection was quite random, and the remote's button layout made it far too easy to accidentally buy a movie. (Be sure to press your keys slowly; the front desk happily removed the movie we bought from our bill.) Considering how close the hotel is from downtown, and what it came with, the room was a good value. Checking into the hotel on a Friday afternoon, parking was extremely easy and plentiful. Check-in took about 2 minutes total and the employees were extremely helpful and personable. Once we got into our room, I couldn't help but notice how spacious and clean the room was. There was not dingy or smoke smell. The room is your standard sized room with two full beds. The bathroom looked like it had been updated pretty recently. Our view was of the giant (almost lazy) pool. My friends and I went down to the pool for about an hour and it super fun. The huge pool was large enough to make it feel like we almost had the pool to ourselves, even though there were about 20 others in the pool. As far as location is concerned, the Omni is only a few steps away from the airport and about 10 minutes to downtown Austin. My friends and j were only here for a night and had no troubles at all getting around town. The close proximity of this hotel to most everything we wanted to do in Austin made this place a no brainer for us. We left on Saturday morning to go camp at McKinney Falls State Park - which was only a 15 minute drive from the Omni. The wifi is a tiny bit spotty but it does the job. You can pay for a faster internet service but I had no need to. There is no complimentary breakfast but for the price we paid ($76 - thank you Priceline's name your own price) this hotel is definitely worth your while if you need a good place to stay near south Austin. read more

Me and my kids had a wonderful stay here. I received a special cheese and cracker plate since they found out I was an employee at that time from Houston but that's not the kicker of the deal. What I liked was they had the "kids" package ready waiting for my kids in the room even without me requesting or knowing. The beds are very soft with all of the sheets, pillows and comforters. High definition TV. I don't get that at home, plus! Indoor and outdoor pool, plus! Outdoor movie was playing for everybody to watch while in the pool. Plus! Friendly staff (I know this was a standard and you were monitored closely while on duty, I know this because I too worked for the same company). Reasonably priced breakfast buffet. Where I worked it was $20. Here was like $17. Con:. THE SLOWEST FREAKING ELEVATORS that you probably have ever waited on in your life! I read this as a complain from other reviews and shrugged it off until I too was stuck in the lobby looking awkward at incoming people piling up in front of the doors to get in. You guys really might want to see into getting that fixed. Luckily we were only on the 4th floor, guess who got their early morning exercise? These rooms I think average around $150 but if your an employee with the company it's $50. Thank you staff at the Omni Austin S. P. You made me proud to have been part of your team. Pros: comfy mattress. clean. Well maintained. easy to locate off freeway. plenty of parking. We got a great price. Cons: decor is an older more traditional style. The furniture itself doesn't feel old. Just not the modern style I prefer. The other hotel patrons were not necessarily noisy or bothersome. However they weren't exactly the typical Omni hotel customers I've encounter during past stays. read more
