The door they left open all day. Smh my room was unsecured. Also photo of the stain in my FIRST ROOM. And the broken faucet smh

Update on review: Albert refuses to speak to me or give my money back so unfortunately I had to escalate it to corporate. The worst general manager I have ever experienced. You left your customer room unsecured and unsafe and every time I call he stepped away for a meeting or isn't available lol this place is a complete JOKE. I'll definitely be having corporate review these yelp reviews and sending them my police report about how the police had to come to my room guns drawn because they also had to make sure their SAFETY was first being that we all don't know who could be in my room since it was left open for 12 hours smh.

    Cigarette burns throughout the room

We stayed at the Sonesta Select Austin North from July 2-5, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. We flew in from Michigan to spend time with my daughter's husband before his military deployment and hoped for a comfortable stay. Instead, we were completely catfished by the photos and descriptions online. I've stayed at the Royal Sonesta in San Juan and had a great experience, so I trusted the brand. I booked two upper-floor rooms via Expedia, but on arrival we were told the elevators were broken--and had been for a while. No warning was given. We were moved to lower floors, and the stairwells reeked. The rooms were filthy, with stains on furniture, pubic hairs in the bed and bathroom, and black mold in the shower. One room smelled strongly of marijuana. Housekeeping never came--no towels, toilet paper, or basic cleaning. When we asked, they simply said "no." The worst part: my daughter found a roach crawling on her 3-month-old baby. We found another in the bathroom and recorded it. Even more disturbing, we saw homeless individuals bathing in the unlocked pool. There are no cameras by the pool area, and no manager ever on duty. Staff admitted Sonesta took over an old Hyatt and put up a sign. The hotel is unsafe, unsanitary, and poorly managed. We have photos, video, and proof that no cleaning was ever done. Avoid until serious improvements are made.

Your reviews Sonesta Select Austin North Austin, Texas Unclean unkept hotel May 2025 My stay May9-10- 2025 Horrible!! The overall condition and location this hotel is disgustingly unacceptable. It is in a transient area. There are numerous reasons that this hotel should be rated as uninhabitable. See the following reasons , 1 grounds are unkept beer bottle caps cigarette butts and dog poop everywhere and lawn care is nonexistent 2. HUGE roaches in lobby and little ones in the room 128, 3.no hand soap in room 4. shower grout black and air filter vent dirty 5. One set of thin towels and paint chipped off walls 6.breakfast food and coffee all gone before 10 am as posted 7. Hallway on 3rd floor smelled like old wet carpet... DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! The nerve of them to charge such prices. This hotel should be condemned

There are several things that went wrong with this stay. I would avoid this property at all cost. 1. There was black mold growing in several places in the shower... 2. The hotel advertises free breakfast and we came to the breakfast area at 8:45 and there was literally nothing left to eat. I asked the girl at the front desk and she said they ran out and would not be getting anymore food (even though the breakfast was supposed to continue until 10am. ) 3. The girl at the front desk could not care less about our concerns...she had ear buds in and was on here phone. It was if I was really bothering her to even speak to her. 4. There is NO management staff on property on weekends...NONE. 5. The towels are micro small and thin. 6. The bed mattress in very old and worn out. 7. In general the hotel staff is rude and unresponsive. 8. I offered them a chance to give me a =refund and they didn't respond. (see photos below) AVOID this hotel at all cost.

We picked this because of the price and with it being much lower than a lot of hotels in austin area we were a little nervous on what we would get. Ended up pleasantly surprised and happy to report it was a nice stay. Rooms are more like a suite than regular room with couch, desk and small sink/fridge bar area. No microwaves in room but there are two in the lobby. Breakfast was $6 but given the hotel low price I was ok with that and it was decent box with juice, apple, sandwich and yogurt. There are also lobby snacks and drinks for added fee. The bar area was closed, breakfast area closed as well. Staff was very nice and the rest of the hotel is decent. It appears to be an older hotel that was nicely redone. Would do it again over a Hampton or Holiday.

    Mold in shower

Horrible customer service, disgusting rooms, bad area, and overall an awful experience. The room smelled like burnt narcotics, mold in the shower, broken closet door, ripped up carpet, and very run down. When these issues were addressed with the General Manager himself, the issues were not addressed and he in fact blamed me for not telling him sooner. (I checked in at 130pm, immediately left for a function within 5 minutes, and returned at 330pm). I never spent more than 5 minutes in the room and I told him to check his cameras but I'm sure they aren't functioning. His ego was so strong he never waivered on changing my room or even agreeing to look at the issues. When I stated I would be leaving a review for others to know what to expect when coming to this hotel, he told me I was no longer welcome and completely cancelled my reservation and told me I wasn't welcome. I couldn't be more disappointed and would highly recommend people don't stay here. It's gross.

Had nasty little brown hairs ALL OVER the sheets and pillows and the employees didn't care at all. Dirty rooms overall

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

While I mostly kept to the hotel, when I did venture out, I found that there were lots of great dining options within walking distance. My only nitpick is that the Wi-Fi was unreliable, which I've seen mentioned in a few other reviews. My first night, there was an outage throughout the entire hotel. If this stay were not reimbursed, I would have removed a star considering rooms average $500 a night and reliable internet access is expected. Two double beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. Surprised to know they seem to use softened water because it made our skin feel slippery. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall sockets with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The electrical outlets weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. Couldn't find one with a GFCI breaker to reset that side so gave up. Interestingly, the full-sized fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the window curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces around the property are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although, the snack/tea/coffee station with Keurig isn't filled maintained often. We had to ask the night staff to refill the water for tea and the lobby water dispenser was constantly low as well. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless drip coffee $5 and their signature Breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, overall maintenance of room amenities could be handled better. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) the added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out privileges). However if booking directly through Colton House for stays, parking is 50% off at $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not. For an SLH property, we may look for another better-maintained option in the future.
