Stayed here for a weekend stay and it was overall a nice one! It's one of many hotels in the industrial area so you can't really walk to do anything but is conveniently located near the highway if you have a car. The room was modern, clean, and spacious with a separate chair/reading area and a sprawling table. I slept well on the bed and it was comfortable :) Shower water pressure and temperatures were fine, and the full-sized toiletries smelled amazing and made my hair nice and smooth. No issues with noise, and I loved the blackout curtains. And yay for a nice spacious mini-fridge :) Another big plus was their giant gym! Spacious and well ventilated, the gym had free weights, weight machines, plenty of cardio machines (including Pelaron), punching bags, and a stretching/yoga room. Definitely one of the better hotel gyms. Areas for improvement: The room would sometimes get a little humid (no fan switch in the restroom) and the hallways were also quiiiite humid. I bring an external thermometer along when I travel, and it went above 70% humidity in the room unless I cranked the AC up. There are minor noticeable imperfections that can easily be fixed, like chipped off paint on the shower head that detracts from the nice experience. Charging for parking ($10) in the front lot is kind of silly; it makes sense if you're using the garage (which I have no idea how to access / no one told us about it). Staff members were friendly on checking in and out. For parking, it was easy to find a place in the lot up front. I would consider staying again in the future :) read more

This is a nice Marriott hotel located in south Austin TX. It is located within a street that has several other hotels. This hotel has free self parking. They have a parking lot and they also have a parking garage which you can self park for free. This hotel has a nice M Lounge, it also has a bar area and a restaurant. The majority of the employees here are so nice and caring. Thank you Olivier Glattfelder, Director of Rooms and Claire supervisor of reservations for making our stay enjoyable. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The closet is weird as the door will not stay open and the door has the full length mirror, but there are other mirrors to use. 3 star hotel with some 4 star features. Room was pretty standard--not new, not rundown. Older but maintained and clean. Decent sized television. No mold, damp, or bleach smells. No bedbugs (go to Quality Inn a couple blocks down for those--not kidding). Lobby and conference areas are not huge but nice enough. A couple of tacky things I did not like: Additional $10 daily parking fee. Parking lot is outdoor, not covered, and other hotels in the area don't have that fee. $7 Fiji water on the table. I can imagine a kid or someone with special needs chugging it down before their parents could stop them. Minor things to be aware of: Not enough outlets, had to move night stand to get to outlets. No fan in bathroom. Older style narrow rectangular shower tub with curtain. Hallway and even the room had mild but noticeable humps in floor. Ice buckets have no lids. 8 ft. popcorn ceilings (7 ft in bathroom/entrance/closet). Weak water pressure. Views are parking lots and highway. read more

I had left positive reviews for this hotel as it had become my go to hotel for Austin travel - lovely rooms, great staff and good workout space! We had a work meeting here, brought in multiple guests for 2 nights - was setting up to do the same again BUT now I won't step foot back in here and this became the first time I walked out mid reservation and am now sitting with beautiful lake views ( as opposed to I35 ) in the Hyatt. I was given a room next to the gym, overlooking the freeway ( which as a loyal Titanium member you would expect better than this but that was not me issue ) the room had a damp smell and was next to some kind of maintenance room so had a consistent trickling water sound which is not conducive to sleep ! I left that room and asked for another - the girl at the front desk, rolled her eyes and started chastising me because God help she had to stop her conversation with her colleague and work! She told me all they had was a disabled room while I watched guest after guest check in for a nurses conference!! I then got ready with my make up and belongs on the floor of a bathroom with no vanity or shelves which is not okay anytime - it's gross! The gentleman at the desk ( Nevlin who is always lovely) told me they had people checking out and to bring down my case so he would give me a different room when I returned! I called as I was on my way back and got who presume to be the same girl with the same attitude who told me I could move back into the disabled room ( after 2 associates had advised me they had other rooms) or go home! I chose to check out, will not return and will not hold future meetings here ! If the girl that did this - not sure what the power trip is - you are a hotel desk clerk - get over yourself and maybe prioritize actually working and not chatting! If you are the manager- you have a great property and lovely staff - you don't this toxicity costing you customers ! Very nice hotel! M Lounge is on the main floor across from Check-In Desk. Huge gym with lots of options... even a Yoga Studio. Comfortable and spacious rooms. The surrounding area is kind of industrial, but it's a quick drive to downtown most hours. There is a daily parking charge which includes garage and lot spaces. Walking from here is a nightmare especially with a stroller or a wheelchair. Streets are uneven and narrow. Do not recommend if you are planning to walk or a light sleeper. I stayed for a work trip. Check-in was easy and there was a nice spacious lobby for any working/meeting we needed to do. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The room was also cleaned during the day, so I was glad for that (hotels are iffy on that these days). There were lots of outlet options near the bed, which is also not true of every hotel, and I like being able to charge devices near the bed. Except for one conference room being ice cold, the meeting spaces were big and easy to view screens. The parking lot did get full, but we had no issues finding a spot. The restaurant on site was decent but there's other options in walking/driving distance if needed. This place was a great place to stay and pretty close to the airport. read more

We were in town for a short visit for wife's birthday.... I chose Marriott over some of the others out there because the proximity to food and that decision was super awesome!!! I couldn't go 5 stars because they messed up the pillows even after double triple checking via the phone and with front desk who verified on the walkie talkie that down pillows were not in our room.... Grrrrr someone needs education on how to pay attention to small details that can become a bigger deal. Luckily we travel with EpiPens because of the oversight. I reached out to Eric on the management side of things to explain the reason for visit... He and his team set up chocolate covered strawberries and champagne as we checked into our room and I got bonus points from the wife! She definitely felt special. Minus the pillows removal. I am very pleased with the decision. From the check in with a nice gentleman down front. We felt valued and the hospitality was super top notch! All team members should be commended!!!! The maintenance crew was in our room to fix a leaking refrigerator and they were so polite and genuine! The cleaning crew was awesome they greeted us as we walked by and were very generous. The stay was peaceful and vibrant Every time we entered our room! The bathroom was legit...the shower had a luxurious feel... I will look to stay with them again if the price is right. We got a great special. (booked early) I feel that it was a great value! Thank you Marriott for the hospitality. They even had the M club lounge which we got to meet Javier whom made us feel about as VIP as one could do. His conversation was very pleasant and informative. The hotel is old, however you can tell they have re-done it recently. It's very unfortunate that the staff is unwilling to allow you to use a microwave. So if you have kids and need to heat up a bottle it's not possible. I was literally told there was not ANY microwave in the entire hotel which obviously is just not true. If anyone believes there is not 1 in the whole building, I got some beachfront property to sell you in Austin! However, she DID say there were some in their "sister properties" so I guess you should not stay at just a "regular" "Marriott" and go with the cheaper options. I was delighted at the kind hospitality of everyone at the hotel. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the hotel has one of the most complete and largest gyms I've ever found at any hotel. The hotel is located close to central Austin making it a quick ride to attractions and restaurants. Renovated Marriott located south of downtown Austin. This hotel has a gym and large lounge in the first floor that serves 24/7 snacks and soft drinks with breakfast and happy hour on the weekday. I have stayed at this hotel for many years and recently their business started to be more busy, they implemented a daily parking fee to get more revenue, which is obnoxious, because nothing has changed you park in the lot outside, there is no gate, there is no security, just 100% profit. read more

If you are considering this hotel for a meeting or event, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere and let me tell you why. I hosted our company's annual planning meeting here earlier this month. The planning and lead up to the event was smooth and their team, lead by Leslie, were very responsive and accommodating. During the event, we elected to have the hotel provide lunch for our group of 14 attendees. Within an hour of lunch, I became violently ill. Nobody else was sick and we had been sharing food all week so by process of elimination, I confirmed with the rest of the attendees that I was the only person to eat one of the items offered for lunch. I will spare the details, but it was bad enough that I couldn't leave my hotel room for 2 days and had to miss the most important event of our year which I had organized and was supposed to be leading. It wasted nearly $100K in business costs between hotel/event costs, travel expenses, and the attendee's time. All of that being said, I can understand that while unfortunate, these things happen. What was most frustrating with the experience was the response from the hotels management. I alerted the hotel immediately once I realized what made me sick. Their immediate response was "I spoke with the chef and cooks and there's no way that their food could've caused this." Ok...no investigation, no questions, just completely diverting responsibility. I then escalated it to their management team. The following week I heard from their General Manager, Tom, who asked me a few questions over the phone and told me "they were going to do an internal investigation and get back to me with what they could do." A day later, Tom reached out to me via saying "there is no finding linking your illness to the lunches you had here" and "we are unable to offer compensation in this case". It was a completely irresponsible, and quite frankly a negligible response, void of empathy, and utterly against Marriott's core values to act with integrity and to put people first. At the very least they could've not charged me for the meals that I couldn't eat while stuck in my hotel room for 2 days, or comp'd me for the $12 worth of Gatorade and advil that was brought to my room. Sadly, it became clear immediately that the management of this hotel has no sympathy for its clientele, no willingness to make gestures in good faith, and takes no shred of responsibility for something that was so clearly caused by something they provided. It goes without saying that my business will not spend another dollar at Marriott properties - not because of what happened, but because of how I was treated in response. read more

Overnight stay - Great location for our stops in Kyle and New Brau - Great for Austin as it is right off 35. Double had plenty of room with space in the bath area. Very large mounted flat screen that frames the room. Track lighting around the beds - updated design and colors. The pool was replaced with a complete gym - free weights, weight machines, plenty of trends, bikes, stair machines, yoga area, peloton, boxing space - with TVs. You can use the pool at the adjoining properties - kudos to those who came up with the gym design. Parking was plenty, plus there is garage parking under the hotel. ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5-as always, made mine via Concur. Parking-5-Ample parking outside, no underground or covered which might be an issue to some in the heat. Ease of check-in-4- Easy to check in but the electronic key that I set up the day before on the Marriott app didn't matter because this location does not utilize electronic keys. (Tip- don't check out before 6 am as you will be waiting for the desk staff to run a "morning report") Room-2- While the room itself was nice, it smelled like sewage. I traced the odor to the bathroom and let the front desk know about it. Someone came up while I was away and sprayed some heavy-duty deodorizer and the smell was masked for about 12 hours; then it came back and never went away. Mattress/pillows-4.5- Pillows were comfortable and abundant, mattress was so-so. Elevator speed/availability-2- The A/C in the elevators was not working so the temp was around 100. I mentioned it to an employee who said they would let the engineering staff know, but it remained super-hot in the elevators for the next few days. Gym/pool-4-The gym here is fantastic, and there is lots of equipment to choose from. The temp in the gym in perfect and all of the equipment actually worked! Downside, NO POOL. It was 106 outside and no pool. Restaurant-3.5- The folks working in the restaurant were very nice, but it took forever for your food to come out (averaged 40 minutes) and it was not very good. I would stay away from the meatballs and stick to the burger. On a bright note, the deserts were good. Staff-5- I didn't really interact with the staff much, but when I did, they did everything that they could do to assist. Available snacks-4-I am giving this a 4 only because there were no Red Bulls or Monsters available. I asked at the bar for a Red Bull as well and was told they hadn't come in yet (three days in a row). Feel free to up this to a 5 yourself, just my opinion. Price-4- Priced similar to all other hotels in the area. Overall-3.5 (being generous). Had the room not smelled, the elevators not been set to broil, and the food been better it would have been a solid 4. Still worth checking out if needed, just be aware. Shout out-To the acai bowls made for breakfast at the bar, they are AWAZING! read more

Remodeled and pretty, but you know the saying, you can't polish a... Pros: good amenities for Marriott Bonvoy, nice rooms, good service Cons: location is isolated, structure of hotel is still shows it's age I've been to this location on two separate trips at the recommendation of a co-worker, and I'll very clearly choose this location if I'm going to be in this area. For Marriott Bonvoy Members, the lounge is great, especially when the breakfast is a true breakfast, and the evening happy hours offering nice appetizers. For you gym rats, this newly remodeled gym is everything you could want. It's large, has a lot of equipment, and you can do a lot of exercises. The rooms are beautiful, and I very much appreciate the cross between classic boutique and modern amenities. The one drawback so far has been that you can very obviously tell the "bones" of the hotel are old. One of my trips included a stuck elevator where it would not recognize the door closing, and would get stuck on a floor (this happened to me three times in two days, it's the middle elevator). Customer service is good. Haven't met any team members who haven't said hi, smiled, or asked how I was doing. Again, I'll be looking to stay at this hotel as my first choice in the Austin area from now on. read more

Marriott South is my go to hotel in South East Austin. My wife and I have stayed here for various reasons through the years and its always a pleasant stay. They have a cool restaurant and bar. We even stayed here during Snowmageddon last year. If you want a nice room this is the best Hotel in the strip of Hotels at Ben White and IH35. read more

Stayed four nights at the beginning of June while visiting Austin for my nephew's graduation. The Hotel is off of the highway and I believe recently renovated. The room was clean and service was very good. They made the beds daily and brought fresh towels as well. We purchased the concierge package which gave us access to the breakfast, appetizers, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks daily. We were very happy with that upgrade. We ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and also had a good experience there. Overall our stay experience here was very good. read more

We found ourself re-routed through Austin after our flight from Cabo San Lucas brought us this way! My husband booked through his Bonvoy app. before we left Cabo, Mexico & reached out to his Ambassador immediately to advise of our cancellation dilemma. We were advised the hotel was full but that the restaurant was up & running ! That's a plus because you never know right now & tbh, Marriott has been riding a ' COVID train ' for longer than most hotel chains with it's service / restaurants/ Elite perks all under the pandemic umbrella. I know I sound rude, but it's noticed. So, yes! The chat told us the restaurant would be open until 10pm and with us not arriving until about 9pm we would be hungry! The front desk staff was impeccably sweet.. they downgraded us, but they were sweet. Apparently there was maintenance on the floor we had been assigned to. She comped us two drinks / breakfast ( my husband is supposed to get that as an Ambassador anyway but it was nice she tried;) ) and mainly , she was super apologetic. We rushed to the restaurant where on the Yelp app, we saw a check in offer for -- a free drink ! -- haha so it wasn't a great check in comp after all. The staff in the restaurant were also super kind. We got our drinks and a key lime pie and called it a night. So. We get to our downgraded floor from the 'maintenance floor' and notice a smell. We also noticed TONS of maintenance across from our newly assigned room. Too tired to care we went with it. This hotel is not on a level of The Red Roof Inn. I'm sorry to say .. but they were all too happy to take $180 a night - downgrade the room - to a room that was across from maintenance/ plastic wrap/ open to a construction zone. The next part.. we wanted to shower after a long day of flying from Mexico & being in airports .. 'NOPE. The water was ice cold. According to the non apologetic app. chat aka the front desk , a boiler was down. My husband in desperation took a cold shower. That warded off the ac that didn't work well. There were stains on the carpet ; the cabinet to the television was broken & this is the smallest room/ bathroom we have been in in a LONG time. Oh and the freeway noise .. an awesome touch! The next day we went down to grab lunch .. nope. Don't expect lunch at this 'full service ' Marriott.. the only things getting lunch are the weird black bugs in our bathroom.. yes , we also had bugs here . Gross. We decided to check out and take our chances with a 3 hour wait at AUS airport for food. Total transparency, you can walk next door TO THE RAMADA INN and eat there.. we tried but the line was out the door .. how do you like that , Marriott ? Your customers and loyalists going to the Ramada for lunch ?? Two stars for your amazing staff having to answer for your highway robbery. Shame on you. read more

Stayed one night at Marriott South Austin before heading back home. The staff and front desk were friendly. The hotel was recently renovated and especially the gym area. The gym was spacious and had a wide selection of workout equipment. Our room was recently renovated too. The room was nice and clean, but there were some small issues. The sink drainage didn't have a stopper and the bedsheet was the wrong size. As a result the bedsheet would come off at the corner near the headboard. Aside from that our stay was nice... read more

First off, let me start by saying that because summer service here is way above and beyond my expectations! when I arrived I was promptly Greeted with smiles cordial attitude with every Single associate staff being very helpful and accommodating! Upon arrival Tierra greeted us and gave us information about the hotel and always had a smile on her happy faces! Even though we have to wear a mask they all seemed to have a smile on their faces. Now on to Cory, he was an absolute pleasure to have as a conceirge!!! Cory is one of those people that when you meet him he immediately puts a smile on your face! Now onto their restaurant, I was promptly greeted by James who is the food and beverage manager, he not only was accommodating to our needs but also very nice and helpful making sure the meal was created just right! Located close to the highway so easy access through Frontage Road. Hotel is also located on a strip of other hotels including Marriott brand so you have lots of choices. This hotel is not located in downtown so it's priced much cheaper than other hotels. Rooms are spacious, clean and bed comfortable. Could use a little updating. Love the large mirror in the room which for a woman is a must. There are outlets and USB ports by one side of the bed but not both. Like most Marriott's they have a nice restaurant, bar and large lobby. Elevator was extremely hot, not sure if it was just not ventilated or the AC was out but it felt like a sauna in there. They have lots of parking available either outside or in the parking garage. They even have reserved spots in the front for platinum members although they get filled up quickly nonetheless it's a nice touch. Staff is always friendly and attentive. They even walk from their side of the front desk to hand over your key and even walk you to the elevator. read more

Life-changing Lemon Ricotta pancakes!! This hotel was super quiet, even though it's right by the highway. The entry and interior are so pretty and the amenities are lovely. The design of the lobby is updated and fresh. The bar and restaurant are incredible. The rooms were so comfortable -- we really wanted to stay longer. We enjoyed the fabulous beds and fluffy comforters and pillows. Breakfast downstairs at the ATX Olive Company is a must-do. We had breakfast tacos, the eggs your way breakfast, and the LEMON RICOTTA pancakes with blueberry compote. It was all so delicious we wanted to eat it all again. The eggs, breakfast potatoes, and sausage were so yummy. The pancakes were so tasty we can't stop talking about them. (I've been trying to find a recipe to make at home!) read more

This Marriott is one of my favorites. The team is extremely friendly and hospitable. The Concierge Lounge attendants are very nice and take good care of us Marriott Loyalists. I am deducting one star for the high turnover at the front desk though and the bad experience my wife had calling the hotel last week. For some reason the desk agent decided to "screen my calls" for me which as you might imagine made for a not so fun conversation with my wife..... I will absolutely be back to this property though and highly recommend this to others. read more

The rooms on the concierge level are nice. The room appears very clean and the bed is comfortable. The hotel overall is showing it's age. The gym and pool are nice. The Gym has 4 treadmills, Two bikes, and four ellipticals. The gym is split into a couple of rooms so there is a lot of space. The equipment is well worn and could use some maintenance but there are plenty of machines and it was never crowded. There are also free weights yoga mats and rollers and some Bosu balls. I held my wedding in Austin and had the pleasure of coordinating with Chelsea Evans on a block of rooms for my guests coming from out of town. Chelsea was an absolute joy to work with and great with guests calling in with questions or special requests. The hotel is a quick 10 min drive to the airport - very handy in picking up guests flying in. Unfortunately, no airport shuttle available. It was also a short 10-15 min drive to most Austin-centric food scenes like South Congress and South Lamar. Parking was plentiful and free (which is a nice plus that you don't get in downtown) and there was also an underground parking garage. Hotel staff were all stellar and quickly learned the guests' names and greeted us by name. From the front desk, restaurant, and to the executive lounge, the staff made us feel very welcome and more than happy to help with random requests like refrigerating fruit platters and receiving packages for the event. I was blown away with the warm Southern hospitality. The Christmas decor was very lovely and the lobby was a great place for guests to mingle. If I were to offer some constructive feedback, it would be that the breakfast at the executive lounge didn't have any hot foods - it was just pastries. The appetizers at night though - the chocolate chip cookies and fried mac and cheese balls were delicious. The hotel may not be shiny new, but it was certainly comfortable and lovingly maintained. The suite was very spacious and we really enjoyed (and needed) the space. The double bed rooms are a bit cramped if you have more than two people (like those with kids)... The rooms were quiet - no freeway noise. While there were closer hotels to the wedding venue, I would not have had it any other way as all the guests enjoyed their time at the hotel. read more

Everything was super clean, hand sanitizer was everywhere and the front desk staff was extremely kind and helpful. It kind of sucks that we needed to make an appointment to utilize the gym but I'm pretty sure that's the fault of corporate. Only went as far the lobby, which is beautiful. Only here for the shuttle. They run the free shuttle for their hotel and the SpringHill Suites Austin South across the parking lot. The free shuttle drops passengers off downtown at 4th St. and San Jacinto Blvd at the Residence Inn. All you have to do is either call the lobby or schedule a pick up. The last pick up time I believe is midnight, and there are not any pick ups between 12pm-3pm. Forgot to mention if you check in here on yelp you will be eligible for a free glass of wine at the hotel bar. read more

Stayed here during a business trip recently. Overall, the hotel is nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. The Peloton in the workout room is a huge plus, although both needed maintenance. The water pressure in the rooms is terrible; just a soft sprinkle and something you'd find at a Fairfield or Springhill, perhaps the result of a recent renovation and migration to 'low-flow' faucets to save cost? Despite setting the thermostat to 68 degrees with an outside temp of 66 degrees, the temp in the two rooms I stayed in never got below 71. Again, minor issues, but not something I'd expect from a full-service hotel. With many full-service hotels in the area that offer rooms with better functionality, I'll probably stay somewhere else next time. read more

Recently I stayed at the Marriott South in Austin to attend a seminar. The hotel is located not too far from Downtown. The hotel is nice and the staff was friendly. The room was spacious for my family of 4. The only minor complaint I have is that the bathroom doesn't have a steam vent so the bathroom was very humid. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was really good. We were impressed with the quality of the food. We had steak, mac and cheese, pork loin, french toast, bacon, fruit and Starbucks coffee among many good options in the buffet. We really enjoyed our stay, the staff was very nice. I would stay at this hotel again. read more

I was on a quick work trip in Austin and I always like to stay in different hotels while I'm here. It gives me a different experience and exposes me to different locations. This location is in a pretty industrial area but not too far from downtown and from South Congress. I truly enjoyed my stay here, everything was very relaxed and convenient about it. It didn't seem like the hotel was at maximum occupancy or even close to it because every time I needed something I got it right away. The customer service here was great. They recognized my status and thanked me for my loyalty right away. They gave me vouchers for breakfast, explained all of the amenities, and told me if I needed anything to please not hesitate to ask. I was upgraded to a king corner room suite so I had a very nice, spacious room. There was a 24 Hour Fitness Center which I took full advantage of, they have a restaurant that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as drinks. They also had a concierge lounge that was available for Elite members during the weekdays. Overall, I would definitely come back here to stay because of how welcoming the staff was and how comfortable everything was. Welcome to one of the finest Marriotts... of 1997. This hotel hasn't undergone much enhancement or upgrade since then and has to be amongst the most disappointing hotel experiences I've had in recent memory. Whenever some of the shortcomings are brought to the staff's attention, you'll receive what I believe are heartfelt apologies, but an apology doesn't eliminate the shortcoming. My guess is that this is a franchise property, and I intend to report the overall experience to Marriott HQ in Bethesda. A dismal experience overall. read more

I enjoyed this hotel. It's clean, moderately modern, and easy to use. I didn't have many interactions with staff, as you can check in and out through the use of their app. I was here for a convention and the convention areas were well appointed and the water containers were kept full and cold. I would recommend this hotel to people travelling in this area. read more

We booked it right before checkin after a day of walking in the heat on south congress. Upon arriving, the drive way and parking was plentiful. Checkin was fast and the lobby had complimentary fruit water dispenser (little touches can make a difference). The hallway carpet looked cleaned and not moldy unlike others I have been. There is a Starbucks in the dining area for morning fix. Everything worker fine and elevatord were quick. The indoor pool would be nice for colder weather but not summer. They said we use the pool next door at their sister hotel but online pics also shows indoor. read more
