Yellow stains streaked across the sheets. We asked for clean sheets multiple times but the room was never serviced.

There was a significant issue with the hotel sending its van to pick up a group of us (12 people total) from a nearby wedding venue at Camp Lucy. The driver was over an hour late, causing everyone to be stranded at midnight, standing outside in the cold, with no other access to cabs or any guarantee a driver would even come for us at all. Multiple people placed several calls to the hotel. At one point, I had to let the phone ring THIRTY-TWO (32) times to get anyone to pick up. The concierge, Chris, was also extremely rude, provided no assistance, and hung up on me after saying he didn't want to help. We were ready to call the police for an escort as a last resort. This was easily, hands-down, the absolute worst experience at a hotel we have ever had. To top it off, the rooms were extremely dirty, with dust everyone and several yellow stains streaked across the sheets. When we asked for the sheets to be cleaned, we were told it would be be handled, but never was. After several attempts, we just gave up and covered it with a blanket.

    Nice, big bathroom. Clean!

We've stayed in a lot of hotels at this price range. This was by far one of the better ones. Nice pool area, clean rooms, nice bathrooms, soft pillows, comfy beds, and good work area. The breakfast was really nice compared to others. Tons of fresh fruit!! Coffee was good too. Basic things like eggs, sausage, biscuits - however they did have sausage gravy which was nice. I just couldn't get over the fruit options - strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, papaya, pineapple and peaches. Plus there was whole fruit you could have too! I'd stay again!

Nice and clean. Pretty quiet. Close to wedding venues. Good breakfast with sausage, eggs, biscuits and waffles.

Called them the week of to adjust our reservation down to 7 rooms and confirm we were coming in on Friday as a school, etc. Friday I miss a call while driving at 4:30pm, I call them back at 6:30 when we stop and they try to explain that since I didn't answer my phone (while driving students) they had to give away two of our rooms, and they claimed they didn't know we were a school (see above when I told them on Tuesday). They also booked us different styles of rooms and only 3 of them would be double queens with pull out couches instead of all 7. The biggest problem with all of this is they sounded like they were blaming us for not answering there call by saying "because you didn't answer we gave your rooms away" and that "we didn't know you were a school" which they did. They also insisted they knew they were overbooked the day before and didn't call us until 4:30 hat afternoon. We were able to shuffle people around to only need those 5 rooms and a room they booked for down the road at the sleep in. They checked us into those rooms. We get to the hotel and get our keys and I give them our tax exempt form, they apologize and insist they will make everything right. I thought that would be the end of our problems, I was wrong. The next morning around 11am we find out that they expected (without ever informing us) that we would be bringing the people staying in the other hotel back to their hotel for the last night of the stay having them repack all of their things, etc. At no point was it ever discussed that that they would even have rooms available the next day. We eventually just extend the room at the other hotel because we didn't want to give this place anymore money because they are awful. When we went to check out we found that they had not infact handled the tax exempt so I had to wait for them to adjust the tax on each of the rooms, and then we found that they had overcharged us for the non-suite room, the front desk staff was unable to fix this so we had call back to the manager later in the day to get it done. In general they did try to make things right by slightly discounting our stay and paying for the 1 night at the other hotel for the 1 room. The lack of communication, the blaming of the customer for problems that they created, in all it took over 2.5hrs on the phone and in person over 3 days to deal with all the issues that came up. Now on to the facilities which were also terrible. On the phone they said construction started Monday but from reading other reviews they have been doing it for longer. Only 1 elevator seemed to be working so wait times were long and the floor was extremely dirty. One of our hotel rooms didn't have a handle on the bathroom door, but we found it in the bathroom and were able to click it back on but the bathroom wouldn't lock. There is no AC in the hallways so they feel like 80+ degrees all day and night. This hotel gives the entire IHG and Holiday Inn brands a terrible name, they should either be under new management or removed from the hotel chain.

There are not that many options in the area and we decided to take the main house (they have the main house that sleeps four) and a guest house. We shared it with another couple who was also attending the nearby wedding and I remember it coming out to less than $100 night per couple. The house was charming, but rustic. It is a updated 19th century house that is cozily decorated. We never met the hosts, the Haydons, but they left us notes, fresh banana nut bread and a well stocked pantry and fridge for snacks, continental breakfast items and assorted beverages. We shared a spacious bathroom that had plenty of linen, shampoos, lotions, soaps and a hair dryer if you needed them. We were there in high summer during one of the worst droughts in history. So the grounds were a little scorched. However, they were still beautiful with graceful oaks and stone fences. The AC worked hard to keep up with the heat during the day, but at night the temperature was comfortable. There was a TV, DVD player and games, but we were otherwise occupied with the festivities to enjoy any of these amenities. We came and went as we pleased and pretty much had the run of the place. After the wedding we invited another couple over for drinks and we stayed up chatting. They were from the area and never had heard of the place. They were really surprised how cozy the house was and well maintained. We definitely recommend it and will use the Homestead if we need accommodations in the area again.

These dates are not available, i apologize." I had already checked on their own website and I knew that they still had cabins available, so I knew this was a lie. I then messaged back to tell them I was aware that they had cabins available on their own site, and but that the rates were much higher. I said that I had already received a confirmation through VRBO's 'instant booking' feature and that under VRBO policies, they were not allowed to cancel the reservation unless I had violated a policy - which I had not. I asked if they could confirm the booking and honor the VRBO rate. They then admitted that there were rooms available and claimed that it was VRBO's fault because those dates should have been blocked off and not allowed "instant booking." I know that what actually happened was that they knew these were in demand dates and that they were charging jacked up rates on their own site, and freaked when they saw I had reserved the dates for "normal rates" on VRBO, so they just unilaterally cancelled the reservation so they could find some sucker to pay the jacked up rates. The worst part, however, was the lying - they LIED and claimed "these dates are not available" and "dates booked on another platform." Those were both lies. Be very wary of dealing with the management of this place - they don't seem ethical or customer service friendly.
