What are the odds that both of my vacuums decided to stop working at the same time? Pretty low I would suspect but they did. Called around to several vacuum repair places and just got the runaround. One guy who calls himself the Vacuum King of San Antonio was so drunk I don't think he knew what planet he was on. I took a very old vacuum to Austin Vacuum to see if it could be repaired. Don the owner took it apart while I waited and showed me exactly why it was not working. A small but vital rod was bent and causing sparks and a very loud screech. Once it was taken apart, and I could see all the wear and tear on the inside for myself, it was obvious that this was not repairable. I tried to pay him for diagnosing the problem but he said absolutely not. He did not try to sell me a vacuum, but I asked what he would recommend. He showed me a vacuum he thought would work best for my needs. I asked about the price but before he quoted he showed me on two popular websites what others were charging. He then told me what he charged and it was substantially less. We have two dogs so a good reliable vacuum is a must. I went back a week later and purchased the model he suggested. Don was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the best one for our needs - the RICCAR SupraLite. Don was professional, friendly, very easy to work with and not at all pushy. Helped unload my unwieldy beast and carried it into his store and took down my info. This is NOT a foofy store selling kitch and chotchkeys! It is a repair shop run by a gifted Wizard full of witticisms and honest appraisals. Who'd have thought someone could be so happy and excited about working in the vacuum business! Don genuinely enjoys people and his profession. He has multiple key contracts with school districts and businesses around San Antonio, so he clearly has a gift with vacuum systems and is fair in his pricing for services. GO HERE!! I have a Shark vacuum I love dearly and one day it stop sucking! I've had it for about 5 years and sadly thought this was the end of the road for us! After researching Dyson's and newer model Shark's none of the reviews impressed me. I was sad. I loved my Shark and it's lightweight, pink color, easy maneuverability. EVERYTHING. I was about to throw it away and thought, what would my Mom do!? Take it to a vacuum shop of course!! I came on Yelp! And found this place! It had great reviews so I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Upon entering I was greeted by the owners smiling face. He immediately plugged in my vacuum and turned it on to diagnose the problem. Right away he took a quick look and knew it was these hidden air filters. He took them out of me and took his air compressor and blew them clean. I felt stupid, haha. After thoroughly inspecting the vacuum assured me it was good to go! I was shocked! It took all of 10-15 minutes. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better he went on Amazon and found the filters for my model of vacuum & texted me the link. The best part? He said since it was such as easy fix I owed him nothing. He said he worked at the shop about 40 years ago and one day bought it from the previous owner. What an amazing story!! He said I had left off a piece when putting it back together to fix it myself. He proved it by opening it up on the spot and showing me.
