I have been a big fan of Austin Wrench-A-Part for a couple of years and I went there again this weekend, so I thought I would write a review. I have been going to salvage yards for many years (in many different cities and states) since I got my first car after college, and Austin Wrench-A-Part is by far the best do-it-yourself Auto Parts yard I have ever been to... the BEST by far and by leaps and bounds! I have been to many other yards in Houston and even in California that truly deserve the name "junkyard" but there is no "junk" at Austin Wrench-A-Part :-) This is NOT the type of junkyard where you have to slog through ankle deep mud or venture into tall weeds full of snakes to try to reach the car you are interested in... Instead, their yard is clean and is made of compacted gravel (not mud). This is NOT the type of junkyard where cars are piled five high one on top of the other... Instead all their cars are clearly labeled with a sticker on the windshield with the Make/Model and Year of the vehicle and all the cars are supported on stands so you can easily and safely access parts under the car. When you go in, they will give you a printed list of matching vehicles, and the rows where you can find them. The printout I received had more than 20 vehicles on rows 112, 113, 114, through 122. And I found *ALL* the vehicles listed on the printout in *exactly* the row as stated in the printout. That is very impressive and is a huge time saver. Once you find the part you want, their prices are fair and you can even buy a warranty on most items in case the part does not fit your car. All in all, this is the BEST "do-it-yourself" auto parts "salvage yard" I have EVER BEEN TO... and it is definitely not a "junkyard" :-) read more

Wrench-A-Apart provided many parts that my grandparents lincoln needed. I was satisfied overall with the service. However, it was the ending that made the experience worthwhile. I remembered to give a review for a man named Denny or Danny. Though this review is a month late, this review will be good. When my brother and I were leaving the store, Denny was there to check our receipts. He looked them over and thought there was an irregularity. I thought opps the cashier forgot to scan something. No, it was not that. Denny quickly realized that a part that we purchased was overcharged. He knew that part was a another component and that component was cheaper than what we payed for it. That realization saved us over 10 dollars. I offered to give him the 10 dollars as a tip, but he refused. I would guess that the business does not allow tips, but he deserved it. I wish that I could have written this a month ago. Not only that, he also provided us free water bottles. I had to copy his method of pouring water on my head. That pouring chilled my head from the gruelling heat. The water quickly quenched the dryness of my tongue. In addition, he suggested to move our Tahoe up to the ramp so that loading of our purchased items would be easier. Denny was great. And he deserves a great review. I wish for him to do well. I know that a car parts store is not a restaurant, but Denny provided excellent service. read more

I went here last week.....WOW I needed to replace my worn seat for my F250. Went their, big guy at counter was Awesome, gave me a list of trucks, showed me where they would be, even asked what color the truck was, to help match interiors for me. The yard was clean, and I found exactly what i was looking for. I had trouble getting one of the bolts loose, and I went back up front to ask for help. The guy at the counter looked through some tools, and loaned me a bar to help break loose the bolt. I went back, and still couldn't get it loose. I headed back up to the front pretty disgusted, and ran into the bigun again. He was really nice, and followed me back to the yard, and I swear, he pulled my ratchet so hard, I thought he was going to break it. He got that bolt like it was nothing. Then he helped me load it in the wagon. I bought the seats, and tried to tip the guy for the help. He refused to take the tip, and said he was just happy to have my business. I have been going here since the first year they opened. I have bought lots of tires, batteries, engine parts, and even a transmission. For those complaining about high prices - I beg to differ, You can still get a transmission there for $100 and just today I bought a CV axle for $41. The reason I went here was because I pulled out the old CV axle out of my friends car (2008 Malibu) and it had male splines going into the transmission, but both Autozone and 2 O'reilly's said it was one with a female inner end, which was not correct. (I even gave them the vin so I know they looked it up correctly). I Found the exact car AND the right part at Wrench-A-Part. And my favorite part is how I can go online and give year make and model of my car and I can get text or email notification when they get a new arrival of the years I specified. I've always been very happy with Austin Wrench-A-Part - it's absolutely the best place around to get your used auto parts. read more

Love this place, I have been working on family and friends cars since I was 14 and after hearing so many of my friends recommend this place for cheap parts I had to give them a try. Well long story short im glad i did, I needed ignition module for my Toyota and its 800$ dollars at the parts stores and more at the dealer. Well I came to the Wrenchapart and they were very nice to me from when i walked in. They tell me how many toyotas they have on their yard and even gave me a map! Im glad they did cause the junk yard is very big but clean too more organized then other yards i been too. Anyways I found the module pretty quickly but i had forgot to bring the right size socket. But the lady up front I think her name was Tina let me borrow one so i could get my part. The next part was the best though when i went to the cashier the price was the same that they told me on the phone only 25$ now my car running good again. These guys are absolutely the best in just about every way I can think of. As soon as you walk through the sliding glass doors, it's obvious you're in for a different salvage yard experience. And once you're in the yard, there is no doubt about it: it's the cleanest most organized 'junk yard' you'll ever visit. The staff is as helpful as can be and enjoy what they do. They are there to help. I don't want to be be specific about how they demonstrated that for me, for fear that others might take advantage of how willing they are to extend their customer service, but I will say they will extend themselves for your satisfaction and do so with a smile and a free drink. This is also not to mention their pricing - which is better than you'll find anywhere. There's Angel's everywhere and there's a group of them at austin wrench a part! I was out of town an completely unprepared to help my wife(i know ...shame on me ,right?). She had a bad battery and called me for help. I told her to go to austin wrench a part and ask them about a battery. They were so helpful and courteous and without wasting any time they had her the battery she needed and on her way! I am so very grateful to them . I have also just about completely rebuilt a 91 Ford f150 and have never left there without the parts I needed at an exceptional price! Not just last resort but definitely best resort for hard-to-find part(s). Needed door handle/reinforcement for '06 Ford Escape. Wrench A Part staff were professional and courteous both on phone and in person. Was able to find and remove part after looking through a very well laid out and organized lot. Can understand some of the concerns expressed in other low reviews but to be clear, this is a salvage yard; it is not Autozone or O'Reilly's. Come here expecting to work for your part, and to get dirty. Regardless of reasonable admission fee, you will still get a great deal. Great place. Very organized and a wonderful selection of everything you might need. Prices are more than fair. Is easy to get in and out of, there's plenty of parking. The counter help is exceptional, especially Alex. He has gone above and beyond every time I've been there. He is knowledgeable and helpful. He took his time and helped me find exactly what I needed. The first time I went in I couldn't pull a part I needed and he offered to do it for me on his day off and called when he had what I needed. That's how dedicated and great they are or there. So I am a total newbie to car repair. My daughter wrecked my 2005 Mazda 6 a week ago today. I have visited Wrench a part 3 time since then and have found the experience incredible. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All the upfront people are very knowledgeable and even other customers are willing to help when YouTube fails me. Above all the greatest receipt checker of anywhere including Walmart is Jeff from Wrench a Part - Austin. All of this on top of great prices and I was able to get all the parts I needed even matched my original hood and bumper colors. My dad and i recently embarked on a project.. Parts are hard to come by in general, but the people at wrench a part were very helpful. All my dad and i were looking for were some front end parts for our old 1982 Chevy truck. Rarely do you ever find these out-dated parts anymore. Thankfully, the cashiers there were able to cross referense several othert vehicles that had the same parts that we could use. I mean we got a power steering pump for less than $20 and a plain steel rim for less than $15. Simply put, my dad and i will be making wrench a part our first call when it comes to salvage parts , heck, maybe for almost all of our parts. read more

A lot of cars to choose from. Nice people that work there. Kevin was my cashier when I checked out he is quick fast and in a very hard worker just like the rest of the people that work there. No long lines no having to wait forever they are fast there even when the lines get long. They have a huge selection of used tires already separated easy to get to. They also have a sink and a water hose where you can wash your hands with soap on the way out before you check out. They have a pretty big property and a lot of room to move around in the aisles. So with these new junk yards or salvage yards, they charge you money just to look for parts. I have accepted this. Now my review of wrench a part. The large inventory has every one beat!! Cars a plenty. Great maps to show you where go to get your parts. Such as.. row 10 red Honda Civic. Yes, the car was there! Bouncing back and forth from row to row on my map helped me find every thing i needed. The staff told me that there are discount days too. I got on their texting list for better deals too. The prices were low as well. Oh yea, look on their web site and find your car or truck in there locator too. read more

I needed a battery for my car and had noticed the sign driving by that they sold car batteries. When i called, the girl was super helpful and described how they worked, and that they had over 50 charged and tested batteries to choose from. I went in yesterday and was really surprised how nice the place looked for a junk yard. They helped me choose the right battery, which ended up being only about 8 months old, and i spent a total of $28 for it, and it came with a money back or replacement warranty. Very impressed, not to mention that I saved over $100 over a new battery for my car. read more

Here we go...I use WRench apart often and usually just go in and get what Im looking for,but after a few successful trips I started looking around at the whole set up and staff. The staff is helpful in cross referencing parts to substitute vehicles. I have no complaints just a bunch of thank yous. And want to mention that the knowledge of how things come off gives confidence and a positive attitude to any new mechanic. How about that for DIY. If i could add anything to wrench apart it would be a tool lending area and a place to sit with other experts to pick their brains. read more

Out of all the pick a parts I have been to all over south Texas and in eastern North Carolina even this is the best. Very organized and they even give you a map and highlight the areas where you need to go based on what your looking for as well as including a printout of vehicle stock numbers and years, they have wheelbarrows to carry tools and parts and after getting an alternator, ignition coil, steering wheel, window glass, and radiator hoses my total was only $68 I was blown away. As a woman, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from my visit to the salvage yard in years, but wow, this place is great! Every single person, from the 1st to the last was helpful and friendly. What a surprisingly great atmosphere! While I didn't find my exact part, they were very helpful, and even showed me their website to look for inventory before I drive out next time. Never knew the junkyard experience could be so fun and welcoming. True treasure hunting. Although I only walked away with a gatorade, this experience was actually fun, despite the heat. read more

Went to Wrench A Part after hearing about it. Unbelievable. Nice, neat car rows and prices VERY reasonable. Went to look for a radiator fan assembly and when I got to a car with the part in it, someone had taken the radiator out already and left the fan assembly on top of the engine with only one plug plugged in! lol ... Couldn't believe it! And, the part was cheap! Only cost me about $30 when a new fan assembly is like $260. The only downside was the wait to get in. If you get there after about 10 a.m., the wait won't be so long to get in to the yard. read more
