Bad weld from a supposed professional
    Steven Y.

Be careful coming here had a full exhaust installed paid $1000 and up ETS back to California called them about one of the welds they did is messed up and I'm leaking fluid from it being that I'm in California now I'm unable to take the vehicle back I told them if I take it to a shop down here will they compensate the manager got pissed asked if I was kidding really this is how they treat veterans please take your business elsewhere. They're dishonest people, and just in it for the money. They claim to be professionals, but apparently as you can see, they do Mickey Mouse jobs.

We've purchased 2 vehicles from Gene Pankey Motors and have been very satisfied with their service…read more Our last vehicle was a pickup truck purchased with the help of Craig, a true professional. No pressure and very helpful. Upon wanting to take a test drive, it was found that the truck had a faulty battery. Craig apologized and asked if we could come back in a few hours and it would be fixed. That left us time to look at trucks from other lots. When we returned, the truck had a new battery and we did a test drive, loved it and made the purchase. Multiple months later the battery failed under warranty. I couldn't find the battery paperwork and called Craig for a copy. He got back to me the same day and stated he couldn't find it either. He then told me to go to their associated repair shop several blocks away and he would pay for a new replacement battery! Now THAT is customer service and why we've purchased two vehicles from them. It'll be time to buy another vehicle soon and you can bet we'll return to Gene Pankey Motors and the great service that Craig offers! Personally, I've never had such great customer service at any other vehicle sales location. Gene Pankey Motors is THE place to buy quality pre-owned vehicles. I cannot recommend them any higher!

Painful process…read more The car I was interested in still needed some work but they allowed me to come in and test drive and were very pushy that I should buy the car. When I asked if I could put down a payment to reserve the car with the hopes they would fix it that week I was told they would just sell it to someone else. Ended up taking 5 days to get the car back during repairs. Was never offered a rental car or any alternative local mechanics. Asked my sales person if there was anything they could do and was told to talk to the mechanic and that the boss would call me. Never got a call. Had to drive 2 hours with a friend to pick the car up since I'm not local which was frustrating. Overall not a great buying experience would not recommend buying anything here that's not fully ready to drive off the lot. That being said they did do the repairs and the car seems to be running well. Will come and update this review in 8 months or so with how the car is doing.

Test drove it, and it was fine. Everything seemed well. Upon delivery I heard a BAD clicking sound! Said I would not accept this and they said they'd fix. Took the car back so they could check it out. 4 days later they called me and said they'd couldn't find anything even after driving for 100 miles. So I had to go down to check it out. They didn't drive it even 10 miles. Yes I looked at the odometer. I proceed to drive for a half hour and come back, btw their shop looks WORSE than the shop I worked at, IN THE ARMY!, and we ALL know those can be bad. After coming back and hearing the sound I stand around and wait for the "shop foreman". Rather a joke of a man. I tell him to get in, he sites right seat and I BARELY turn out of the parking space and immediately hear the sound. He looks at me confused, and I Have to tell him it's either the CV axle, or the differential, and that they need to fix. Two weeks later they tell me it's ready to go and that they not only replaced the CV axle but the transmission too. Now here I am under the car at THIS VERY MOMENT, replacing the "new" cv axle they "just did". As a mechanic myself, I know when shts been worked on, and this hasn't. Yes "maybe" they did something to the cv axle("repaired it"), but the transmission was NEVER replaced! That was a LIE! There's NO evidence they even did anything but some lock washes on some questionable bolts. If the did "replace the cv axle", why did this one fail now if it was new? Now I know what you're thinking, and YES the part numbers match on both axles! So why if this one was new(from Subaru) did it fail SO fast if this was the only one new? So there's NO doubt in my mind that they lie! The trans is NOT new, as is the axle. They LIE! So keep looking and DO NOT BUY HERE! Picture for reference on the axle. If you know mechanics, or even if you don't, explain why this happens on a "new" axle(from the manufacturer) when it's only been driven on the road and for less than 4 months and bought this VERY year! Please go somewhere else! Put these people out of business! Oh! And too the business, if you really want to dispute this with me, back date your purchase order on these parts!(because I know it didn't happen). I'm gonna want to see those! Should've asked for them in the start! But I was Too trusting. Learning myself here.

I said can I test drive the car first at least? Sure one sec. Comes back and deal is off the table because of a "glitch in the computer". Sold me on a more expensive car with more miles on it. Made comments on how I'm "picky" because I knew I wanted all wheel drive with under 120,000 miles for around $15,000. Asked me if I want to look at a Malibu which is not at all what I'm looking for. Felt like they were trying to sell me their worst cars. Didn't get what I wanted and now because of my impulse decision I'm stuck with a car that probably won't last through the loan I'm stuck with.

I said no because my husband does that for me at home and he somehow managed to slip that in and my husband noticed it when I got home. He did dupe me into getting warranty but next day we went in and canceled it which he told me that I could do. He told me that he would send the refund check for the warranty to the bank which I've been waiting and never happened. I would email him every so often and he would make up lies on why it wasn't sent yet and in the meantime I'm accruing interest that I have to pay. End of January is when he said he will send the refund and it's already mid April. Last time I talked to him a few days ago he said the check has been sent a long time ago that he doesn't know anything about it but when I called and talked to another Finance guy today he said the check has never been sent that it will be sent today or tomorrow and he apologized. There were so many other lies, like big lies that I have proof of because I kept all of our email correspondence and I will be taking this to the Attorney General's office. I do not recommend South Tacoma Mazda AT ALL! Rachel was the car salesman I dealt with and she assured me that Jake is honest and transparent but that was a lie. They all work together.

We paid 9000 down and he offered us 6 months in house loan for the additional 1509. We paid 6 payments of 251.62. About 2 months after my last payment I called asking about the title to the car. Ramon was immediately evasive. He stated that there was a lot of mail theft and he didn't want to send it to me. I relayed I had a locking mailbox and an account with USPS so I see scans of all the mail sent to me prior to receiving it. So please just send me the title. He was short on the phone and acted like it was an issue for him. Then he finally agreed to send it out. He didn't ask for my address or any details, which I thought was strange but let it go. The title was never sent. I decided to take my car to the mechanic for a standard check up. The car has been tampered with and had ongoing issues but wouldn't show any codes So I didn't know that I was driving for over a year with major issues. It doesn't show any check engine lights and the code machines won't work on it. The mechanic shop told me that someone made my car that way. I can't prove it was Ramon but I fully believe it was. About a week After I made the purchase He made me drive to his dealership to take pictures and send me to his mechanic for a tire sensor. The mechanic was messing with my engine for like an hour calling and whispering on the phone while working on it. My partner and I thought it was weird but again we let it go. Now today may 8th 2026 I have contacted him again. I was angry and asked him to please just send me my title. He hung up on me. So I called back and repeatly said please send me my title. He called me a b**ch and hung up on me multiple times. Just to call back at 12:49 and state he was sending the title. Moreover, when I was there the second time for the sensor work an employee was on the phone with another customer angry asking for their title. The employee stated that she had moved and it was lost in the mail. again we though it was strange but had already purchased the car at that point and we're none the wiser to the title issues we would also be dealing with. I don't know what they get out of keeping the title, I don't understand why he is still in business. he sells broken cars, makes it so they don't show codes, and won't sign them over well after the legally allowed time frame. I spoke with the DOL and they want me to report him. I hope everyone who has been ripped off and cussed at by this unscrupulous man reports him To the DOL. it's the only way we can stop him from hurting other consumers. I called him and he let me know a potential buyer had an appointment on Friday at 4pm to look at the truck. I said I wanted to buy it and asked to make a deposit and would fly in on Saturday to purchase it. He told me he could not do that because of the potential client with the appointment. A few minutes after 4pm he called to let me know the truck was sold to the client. This was a respectful and ethical dealer. The second experience was with Sabeti Motors. They had a Ford F150 on their website, just posted. The truck met all of my expectations and I contacted them via messaging. They promptly called and I made an appointment for 11am on Saturday June 8th. Repeatedly I messaged and phoned them to confirm my appointment and desire to buy the truck. The day before (Friday) I called to let them know I made arrangements for a mechanic to meet me there to inspect the truck but would only get there at 2pm. Again I confirmed my desire to buy the truck, On Saturday morning Sabeti Motors left a voice mail telling me they sold the truck the night before. Quite a different experience. The dealer in Montana has my business. He is looking for a truck for me and I am certain I will be pleased with the experience, just as I was impressed with his upstanding approach to selling the truck he had on his lot.
