My family has been coming to this Bucky's for over a decade when automotive mishaps have happened to our vehicles. They helped us majorly again today when a car battery died in one of our vehicles. Bucky's got us in the next day diagnosing and fixed the problem for free. My wife practically had to force money as a tip on the manager who helped us. I have had a lot of adventures with auto mechanics but this Bucky's has always been dependable and helpful. Fair pricing and honest. Really my best experiences with auto mechanics have been at this location. I can't speak for other Bucky's but this one is our go to when we need anything with our cars. There's also a really neat bowling alley across the street with a great restaurant and miniature golf. Many times in the past I have gone across the street to Tower Lanes to eat breakfast or throw a few games while the guys at Bucky's do their thing. I bought a Groupon to get an oil change and visited Bucky's today to redeem it. Jeremiah at the counter was a pleasure to interact with, though the shop was a bit busy. A new tech performed the oil change and unfortunately left a few details in the dust! My oil was overfilled, my oil cap wasn't screwed on tight enough, and he had spilled oil all over my valve cover (not a big deal, just soaked that up when I got home). He also failed to totally seat the windshield wiper fluid lid, again, not a big deal because I always double check the work performed, but not everyone does! I typically perform my own oil changes due to the nature of interacting with men at car shops and lately, quality of work. However, with the price of oil, the coupon was too good to pass up. These guys treated me kindly, with respect, and as though I knew a thing or two about cars, which is exceedingly rare. I appreciate that respect! While the newbie's attention to detail was subpar, Jeremiah and Rich totally turned the situation around! Jeremiah apologized and let me know he'd discuss it with the tech, offering to hook me up for my next oil change and then he wouldn't let me leave without double checking the work was completed satisfactorily. Thank you, sir! While I wish the work had been performed properly the first time (and wonder if others have left the shop with almost a quart too much oil), I have worked in service long enough to know mistakes happen! I had forgotten my wallet, which Jeremiah was also sweet about, so I wanted to stop by and pay the tax on my Groupon anyway (which Jeremiah had already found a fix for by sending me a text payment request). I thought it was important to provide the feedback for them about the new tech too, so no one ended up with blown seals or loosing oil due to an oil cap not being screwed on tight enough and vibrating out. What's really important in situations like this is accountability and fixing the mistake, which Rich, Jeremiah, and one other guy I didn't catch the name of, did HAPPILY. I'm glad I got a second opinion. I came here for convenience as my usual guys are a bit more of a drive away. Lesson learned... I was quoted $1800 to replace brake pads, rotors, and two calipers. Took it to the other guys who said none of that was even necessary, there's 75% life left on the pads. They said I should have 20k more miles before anything needs to be done and that's if I am an aggressive driver ;) so glad to save that big chunk of change right before holidays. read more

Attempted to redeem ValuPak coupons to obtain repair input from them; no go - they have every excuse in the book to NOT accept one of their OWN coupons (not valid with Jeeps, not valid on a Tuesday, not valid when its raining, not valid when the sky is blue, etc) refused to even give a ballpark for costs without a damn coupon. Decided to bring the Jeep in for an oil change to determine their level of expertise and if they could become the "mechanic". From the minute we pulled into the drive, we were either ignored or spoken to dismissively. The gentleman that helped us at the counter was absolutely annoyed with any questions about costs, service, time to complete the service, getting a however-many-point-inspection to determine a course of repair action - just really demonstrated how NOT interested in our business they were. Then when it was time to collect the Jeep - they wanna charge $150 for an oil change AND tried to hold the vehicle claiming they had had to perform additional work to do the oil change; had to go get my husband for that mess, because there was about to be a very large scene in front of children and elderly. Then, when we checked their work, these fools caused damage to the oil pan and bolt, giving us a pretty nice oil leak at no additional charge. This place is a HELL NAH, especially for women and POC. read more

The first Bucky's I found was in Parkland when my daughter drove her car up to college and I needed a reliable and reputable shop near campus. Bucky's treated her fairly, prices were reasonable, and they always treated her with respect...sometimes hard to find with mechanics talking with younger women. Next my daughter moved to Lakewood for her student teaching and started taking her car to the Lakewood shop. Again, exceptional service and customer care. Regular oil changes and a fuel filter change kept her on the road in a reliable car. Recently my daughter moved to Federal Way for her teaching position, and sure enough, the Bucky's in Federal Way carries on the stellar care. Dropped her car off this morning fro an oil change and she was greeted warmly, and both she and I know her car will be ready to roll for another 3K this afternoon with a few extra checks on her steering fluid, brake fluid, washer fluid and transmission fluid. This place is great. I only wish they had shops in Portland where I live. read more

Went into get my wiper motor replaced, and it turned out I just needed to get a bolt tightened down, they could've just replaced the motor anyway, but they didn't they just tightened the bolt and sent me on my way. They have gained a customer for life, honesty goes a long way. read more

Doesn't make sense to me that any reputable shop would do steering/suspension work and not return it aligned. Now, the customer must drive a misaligned vehicle to an alignment shop. How is that considered service? read more

I was broke down in baker valley rest stop a gentleman asked if I needed any help I told him yes I think it's my starter it's not engaging he tried a few things then told me my motor was ceased I was devastated.. he then told me he worked on cars for a living at bucky's in washington which is where I had came from .. so I had my Jeep towed to a shop and they replaced the starter and I was back on the road . Sold and installed a new battery in late 2020. Found out recently they actually installed a 2017 year old battery in the vehicle and failed to mention this. I only found out after I had to have the battery replaced again at a different shop. I would think mentioning that you installed a 3 year old battery to the client would be important. read more

I took my car to them a few times and all was good , until I had AC issues after they were to check to see why it was blowing hot air after they worked on it. Come to find out they were putting air into my system which is NonCompressable! Yes Air!!! This could have caused major issues. Chris was nice just needs more knowledgeable staff. Calling around to get a ball-park cost on new brakes. Was really surprised at how reluctant they were to even give me any price. Every other place I called, although not a definitive cost (I know, you can't know for sure w/o a visual inspection but if you know your business, you can give a ball-park figure). The guy mumbled something then let out a long belch, smacked his lips then said something else and ended the call. This is NO exaggeration! Come on, guys, I realize you're mechanics but a little self-respect goes a long way. I think the customer has the right to certain expectation of what they might be in for financially on a repair. Jon went above and beyond to help track down parts to restore suspension on an old wagon that I recently started having problems with. The communication was excellent; they left nothing out, did a very thorough job, and called to confirm every step of the way. He also gave me options and recommendations of other places I could try to look myself for parts, mentioning I may be able to find them cheaper, and he would still gladly install them. Ended up doing a full restoration on the suspension of my car (my request; they didn't "upsell" me anything, and I brought purchased parts from elsewhere). Completely done in 2 business days (and only because they had to wait for parts from Oregon - would've been same day if there wasn't shipping involved) Car rides great, and Jon was perfect in communicating every step of the way and handling business like a pro. He was never pushy, demanding, or greedy. Just efficient, informative, and friendly. What more could you ask for? read more

I got the oil changed in my Mini Cooper here today. It took about an hour, as estimated. They are priced well. The staff is all very nice and friendly, and seem honest. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because they do not take appointments and the first few times I called they said the wait would be over 2 hours. I guess I cannot fault them for being busy but it would be nice if they did appointments, even just one day a week. I will be taking my other vehicle here for oil changes as well. read more

I've used Bucky's in Federal Way a few times. It is the only mechanic shop I've ever trusted. Today they (Dean) fixed a battery issue for me in 5 minutes at NO cost. I'm a 60 year old widow that any other shop would have and did try to charge me $475. I only needed a new bolt. Thank you so so much. I recommend this Bucky's to everyone I know. I rarely take my cars into mechanics because I do most of my own repairs and maintenance. Sometimes there are things that I just cannot do myself due to lack of knowledge or tools. I have been burned more times than not taking my vehicles in for repairs at other shops. Chris and his team at Buckys on 48th and PAC Ave are honest and reliable. I am not an easy customer to deal with at times, and they have no problem inviting you into their shop, under your car to show you what the issue is. I have taken my vehicles here a couple times since moving back into town, getting a new catalytic converter welded on my rig, a couple things for my wife's car, and most recently a wheel bearing replaced. After the wheel bearing was replaced I drove to Bonney lake to my sisters house, and my wheel was making noise. I called the shop and they paid to have my vehicle towed back (not cheap!) and found that the sound was not coming from the bearing they replaced, but a stuck caliper they didn't know about prior. Chris had his team replace my caliper at no cost to me since they should have caught that before I left the shop. I recommend them to anyone needing work done on their vehicles! Overall this shop is professional and friendly! Everyone hates dealing (and paying) for issues that come up with their cars. Chris doesn't try to upsell you, or have you pay for unneeded repairs. Hopefully I won't need to see them again for a while but if something else comes up that I cannot handle, they'll be the first shop I go to! Thanks Chris and his team at Bucky's! read more

Needed my breaks fixed and I had a miss fire going on. FIRST they so called did the breaks and 2 days later the break pad fell off.. Then they said I had a back spark plug and over charged for 1 plug, I took off the cap and it had a Crack in it.. This place is bad news!! read more

Called them to have them look at my son's car. The clutch went out. They offer free towing if you have the repairs done there. So had them tow the car to their shop. They called later in the day to tell me the cost was 3237.34. WHAT?? I called my mechanic in Spanaway and he said bring to me. I called Buckys back on Monday, told them I couldn't afford it, and I was having Towed elsewhere. They charged me 93.00 for the towing, mind you it's 2.5 - 3 miles I had towed. My mechanic fixed for 1500 cheaper. Went to get the car and the entire drivers side door looks like it was backed into by another car. Completely dented with a HUGE white paint transfer. My Mechanic said it came to them this way from Buckys. I call Buckys to find out what happened and they tell me "we are not responsible for damages to your car while on our property" WHAT?!?! CLEARLY YOU SAW NO DAMAGE WHEN IT CAME IN. You cannot possibly be so busy to NOT NOTICE THE ENTIRE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS RUINED. They are over priced, unprofessional, unworthy, and clearly do not pay attention to what HAPPENS to your belongings, nor do they care. NOW I get to add 500 more to fix the car for my deductible and have 3000 worth of damage repaired. **DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE IF YOU VALUE IT** read more

So far so good! I received excellent and honest service and my rig is riding great! I will update if anything goes wrong, but overall I am happy with the "new management" at this location. I am not completely certain that I compared the prices with EVERY place in ttown, but for brake pads, resurfaced rotors and some other clampy thingys it was about 180. Will be back with my other car! So I took my vehicle in because I did not pass my Emissions. They charged me $170 for a complete diagnostics. Find my waiver and told me I was good to go. Upon arriving back for my second emissions test I am informed that they should've never charged me for A diagnostic On a modified vehicle which is obvious as soon as you start the car. Which tells me they never even popped my hood because it is obvious when you do this that the car has been modified. When I called to rectify the situation the manager Chris laughed at me. Worst place ever calls I wanted them to do was apply the money towards fixing the car and I would pay the difference and this is when he laughed! read more

Took a older vehicle in for a general drivability inspection. I told them that it had a head gasket issue so theirs no point in investigating that further but to check everything else. Came back the next day to find out that they checked the cylinder pressure which I told them was already an issue and claimed that it was all good. They didn't inspect any other part of the car. Now questioning my knowledge of common car problems I took it to another mechanic to find out that the head gasket was indeed blown. So my review for Bucky's is that they charged me one hundred dollars for a 20 min job that they lied about doing and didn't fulfill the written invoice that included checking brakes, leaks, etc. This place gives car mechanics a bad name. read more
