I've been a member for a few months now and I'm really happy with Australian Tan! The girls who work here are super friendly and very knowledgeable regarding the tanning process and products. The tanning beds are exceptionally clean as is the entire facility. In the past I've never been able to achieve my desired tan but now I finally have! Australian Tan has really gone down hill. I have been going there for about a year and they have new management which are very rude and have absolutely no customer service. Also the tanning salon is no longer kept very clean. They have done away with cash, so if you are going on a vacation and do not want to give your credit card or are getting married, etc you can no longer pay with cash. Unfortunately I got caught into one of their programs and I moved out of the area and there is no way to get out of it. Beware of signing anything! They are still charging me and it's been threee mos. since I've been there. There are way too many Tanning places out there that are so much more professional and better beds. read more

Wow, I am actually getting a lil upset at the bad reviews for this place, 1 star rating for the whole establishment, simply becuase of the music, omg, yelp and social medial in general has become a portal for people to just complain and i'm not sure the validity of most of these complaints which is sad becuase it ruins it for the people who actually have solid feedback:( I am in sales myself and I know how hard it is to run a business and keep everyone happy. CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE I have been going to Australian Tan in Morgan Hill for a couple of years now and have always had exceptional service, clean beds and great tanning results. A few weeks ago I had misplaced one of my favorite watches and after a few days of looking everywhere for it I was sure it was gone. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in at my next tanning visit to find that Marta an Australian tan employee had found my watch and noted my account so that any other employee would know it was recovered. LOVE LOVE LOVE!! The girls here are so nice esp Jessica in Gilroy, she was so sweet & helpful. I swore to never come hear again after having a BAD experience with an extremely rude girl from years back but as I needed a quick bronzing I had to go!! I did the spray tan--which is the self tanner that sprays you & should stay for about a week. They have 3 colors, & me being usually really light complected opted for the 2 & I was so tan. I didn't look cakey or orange or fake which is great! Besides the service the salon is just gorgeous. The decor is so inviting & the vibe is comfortable. I love it here! My mom and I have a membership here and we enjoy it, prices and deals are great. Only thing I would like, is for the rooms to ALWAYS be stocked with spray deodorant, and have some wet wipes in the rooms would be ideal too. I had to drive to Gilroy because I went to tan in Morgan hill ,the bed I wanted was busy I said OK ,I'll walk over get a coffee,SHE SAID YES......I came right back and she gave my bed away ......... And them acted like it no big big deal, I was bothering them!!!!! Not only has this company stole money from my bank account and not pay me back now this. I would rather drive to another town with bad beds ( Gilroy doesn't have the bed I already paid the month for) So well see if I get an apology... I have been tanning with Australian since the day they first opened, and after I moved I tried other tannin salons... nothing compares! I have tanned at every location and have never had an unpleasant experience. The beds are clean, the facility is nice, and the staff is very friendly. I had my first spray tan here and (although I was very skeptical at first) it turned out nice. I recommend only using the Versa Spa which I believe only Morgan Hill and Blossom Hill have. It turns out the best. I wish the first time the girl had explained it better, but the second time the other girl walked me through the whole thing. Make sure you understand everything before you turn it on!! Only complaint was that I was cold and had goosebumps the whole time. They need to warm up the air/spray. Also it sort of has a smell to it afterward which my boyfriend couldn't stand, but I didn't think it was too bad. After one shower it gets lighter and after two it's basically gone. The only complaint I have is the way they do their billing. It switched from buying the amount of sessions you want, to points based on minutes in the bed, to basically you have to sign up for a membership or the prices are outrageous. I have the membership in the level 2 for $30/month (level 3 is my favorite but the price was right). It is unlimited so I can go whenever I choose. I had to sign up for a year though at that price and they tale it automatically from my account. (Which I don't really like). The girls seemed well trained, except when it come to billing issues. They have been told to say the script "there might be a cancellation fee but we don't know how much." I think that's BS but I guess they don't want to handle the billing, they'll let corporate do that. Other than that they are very helpful, and I don't mind giving them my service when they ask me to buy a lotion (although they can get expensive, don't let them convince you to buy the expensive ones, they're all good). I've never had to wait more than maybe 5 minutes and that's rare. I love that they give you upgrades sometimes. The Shark (highest level) is amazing! I am a loyal customer! read more

Tanning is tanning. . . . it's doing business these days that is really important. . . . this place has HORRIBLE schemes. They lock you in worse then a cell phone company. They have no problem electronically and automatically billing you every month, but when it comes time to cancel it CAN ONLY be done via snail mail. Then they state it can take up to 2 weeks to process, mostly so they can squeeze you for that last month. It is such a bad business practice that I would never use them again. read more

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star...this is the worst place i have ever tanned. the staff knew me by name and I knew their names(they were mostly pleasant)...then the "changes" came...i either had to be scanned or have my DL on me everytime. They treated me poorly when I questioned being scanned for a tanning membership..then the harassment from the owners started(the staff was instructed to keep me waiting in the lobby sometimes 30 minutes or unitl the other owner got there to "talk with me" all just to give me a hard time!(i work anywhere from 50-60 hrs p/wk running a business, any free time I have is precious) Owner even made a special trip down to the place to threaten to "turn me in" for not carrying my DL! I documented all the times I was denied use of my membership(which was always paid for in advance!) and when i brought this to the owner, he told me my membership was revoked ...of course HE CHARGED ME FOR THE NEXT MONTH of service I did not receive! I told him I expect my money returned...he blew me off. They treat their employees like dirt...don't give them adequate training...and if you are a customer and speak up...expect your membership to be revoked AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED! They like your money...not your business! I tell all of my friends how aweful my experience was. If I was still within the statute of limitations I'd take them to court. So angry with this place! I used to go there often, but when I had a brief financial issue, I called and asked the girl to cancel my monthly withdraw, the girl said she would take care of it and there wouldnt be anymore money taken out of my account. I had since then closed the account that was linked to this place, and I recently went in to rejoin (thinking everything was ok) to be surprised by the girl saying I had a balance. I explained the situation to the girl and she wouldnt do anything about it. They wanted me to pay $39.99 for the past due, which I had asked them to cancel and it was confirmed and wanted me to pay $39.99 for the current month. So instead of this girl talking to the manager and trying to make something work for a returning customer, they lost my business completely forever! I've been a passport member for years. That means I can use unlimited beds/spray for one monthly fee. I'm also upgraded to use the other spa services unlimited but never have. Passport members get a discount on additional purchases. It's all good until the other day I went in to use a tanning bed to prep for a trip. Bought a sample of lotion ($17!!) and eye goggles. Was told if I buy the full size bottle that same day I'll get the sample size cost removed from purchase. The bottle is $150- seriously outrageous. I figure I'll get the $20 off from sample and my passport discount. WRONG. System can "only accept one discount code." No. No no no no. I HATE this with a passion. Such poor business principles. Bait & switch - with your best/highest paying customers. I wonder if the owners have ever been on the consumer side to feel the big "F you" from a business they purchase from. Do they understand the impact? Is that how you want your biggest revenue clients to feel? Bad business and bad karma. You'll make more profit by delivering great value to the clients with the most resources. I'm interested in reviewing the terms of my Passport status to see where it states I'm not eligible to receive any other promotions. Also to see when it expires. F this place. So it's not about the $20. It's the business principles. Australian Tan is walking over dollars to pick up pennies. read more

Used service for a tan before a holiday and it worked good. However, all points for service whilst I used the service are negated due to the cancellation process. You have to send via snail mail, with comments that you should get it certified in case it's lost? Why, this cannot be done online or at the very least a FAX or EMAIL makes it an extremely bad service. The only reason to limit the options of cancellations to make it difficult to cancel so that they can get an extra couple of dollars out of you. Why also, that it has be process before the 14th is another joke,. Any other service which I have used, such as ISP, cancel immediately. Again, only reason for this is to try to get another couple of bucks. It's a shame because before canceling the service I would have used it again when I needed ti. Just not worth the effort. This is a great place to go. I believe there is one located in San Jose and in Gilroy as well. The workers have to take a class and quiz on the UV ray stuff. So they know what they are talking about. These beds have the less harmful rays and your tan stays longer. They are more expensive but if the tan lasts longer, you dont need to go as much so I think it will all even out to be the same. It's clean, has new hitech beds so what more can u ask for. read more

I have tanned at Australian Tan for 8 years. I feel that they are less concerned now than ever with their customer service and I feel the most strongly about their Morgan Hill location. I with a thumb print have to get into a tanning bed. The thumbprint identifies me with my name which has been checked and entered with my ID in the system. Tell me why I can not go in and buy a pack of lotion without ID when I have a debit card that matches my name that matches my thumbprint. When I asked about the "policy", I was rudely told it was policy and I can not purchase the lotion. Do you not see I am a long time customer?...Did you really just ask my for my thumbprint to enter a tanning bed that you charge me to use monthly recurring that matches the debit card I was trying to provide at time of purchase? The employee was not knowledgeable about the policy and passed me off as "its policy"....okay well who can I talk to, does my business not matter to you? Do you think I picked up someone else's thumb that is attached to my actual hand? Can the people at the front desk use common sense when it comes to talking to customers and if it is really policy...can you share knowledge with staff so they can address patrons in a professional way. This is not even the part that made me the most upset. The girl that was helping me, with yellow long nails and checkered vans, was the same person that helped me with the same transaction the day before. Okay so now your policy is only enforced when your employee feels it should be? Your employees need to review policy, know why it is there and use common sense when it applicable. Know when policy is in place and when I asked her all these questions she was extremely rude to me, with a line. Not only was she rude it was embarrassing. I have never felt like my long time business mattered less to any establishment, ever. read more
