I wanted to give a huge shout out to the employee who was working behind the desk on Friday, 1/6. I came in and she was having to deal with a very difficult Karen-like customer on the phone (the customer had the same name as a red headed orphan who sings about tomorrow). The employee provided a master class in patience and customer service. I could here the customer shouting at her through the phone, and this employee kept her cool and continue to work to find a solution. I felt so bad for her and I could tell the call got to her, however, it did not affect the customer experience she provided me. Get her a raise! Well the tanning is very good and the young adults that are at the desk are very nice. The corporation has some questionable tactics in terms of fees and how you cancel the contract. When you sign up there is more than one fee which is annual. You have to go to a QRM code to cancel and they tell you they will not accept your cancellation until you speak to an agent (that will contact you) or you fax in the cancellation form. You have to cancel prior to the 15th to be valid for the first of the next month. This is fine if you are aware of it and prepare but annoying when you are a first time user and just want to be done. I'm sure the number of extra months they gain from most cancellations is a significant income globally. After cancelling they bombard you with texts for discount offers to tan which are deceiving at best. Again I have to say the tanning beds are good but the background is slippery... so buyer beware.... read more

Sunnyvale Location - Don't waste your money!!!! Rip off and scammers. I tried sending in the letter to cancel my membership - which... what company requires you to mail a letter to cancel? Is it 1865? The want you to have to mail in a letter to keep you from cancelling. Since, any logical and non-greedy establishment would let you cancel by walking in and being like "Hey, it's me - cancel my membership." Anyway, sent the letter, and I've been charged twice now since. Tried calling and left a voicemail a month ago with no returned call. Tried calling again, and now the phone just keeps ringing. It's funny because the number I called is the number listed on this site: (408) 735-7975 For $80/month so I can be darker in color... what kind of horrible customer service is this? I have been a member of Australian Tan for 9 years and regularly tan at the Sunnyvale location. From the wide variety of services and exceptional customer service. During that time I've interacted with many different employees but had to give a shout-out to Brianna from the Sunnyvale location ! Whenever myself or another customer walks in, she is always friendly and attentive, never on her phone, always cleaning and staying busy. Recently, I have followed her recommendations for my tanning sessions (bed level, time, lotion) and never have received more positive compliments regarding my tan color. During covid, she was the only employee I saw (of any store) actively enforcing the mandatory mask rule during Covid which made me (an unvaccinated person) feel safer inside the salon. She is a breath of fresh air and her exceptional customer service and work ethic should not get unnoticed. Hands down, this is the best tanning salon in Santa Clara County ! read more

I found them through a Groupon - 7 day pass for all services for $25 so thought I'd give it a whirl. The space is very clean and well maintained. Used the high pressure bed which was in good condition - some of these places are so rundown, with machines that are missing bulbs so this is a big deal to me. The young woman who helped me was very nice and knowledgeable. I'm excited to try some of their other services and am hoping this might become my regular place. read more

This location is the worst I've been to. Bed 14 is so old, the buttons are broken and the bulbs definitely need to be changed. The music feature in the room doesn't work. Super disappointed. I felt like my time in the bed was wasted. The only good thing was the girl working the front desk was friendly. Other than that I would not return there! read more

This place has gone down hill. The lady at the front never seems to know what she's doing and always seems overwhelmed. She does not seem to know how to work the beds I got undressed in the bed and it wouldn't turn on had to get dressed go back out and she said ok this happened to another lady while I was there. I would not suggest getting a membership here. I've been using this salon for many years and had a good experience in general. I used the tanning beds initially but have only done spray tans in the last several years. I had random problems here and there but the employees are always friendly and the location is convenient. I tried another local location and wound up coming back here. I decided to get a monthly spray tan membership, I regret doing it. I read other reviews that said don't give them your credit card info and I should have listened. First problem was the amount charged to my account didn't match what they told me. It turns out there is a monthly tax on top of the membership fee which made it more expensive than I expected. I think that should have been disclosed. The next month there was an additional $10-20 fee. When I called I was told this was for annual maintenance. I have been going for years and nothing seems to have changed. Recently my bank sent me a new credit card and I did not think to call them to update my account. When I went in I was told there was a $20 fee since my card was declined that month. I have many other bills set up for autopay and not one other company charged me a fee when my payment was declined. They happily took the new information and updated my account. The quality of the spray tan experience has gone down a bit too. There used to be a primer spray before the color but they stopped ordering the primer because not enough people were using it? Also, little things are missing. There used to be baby wipes, tissues (something to clean up if needed). The room in general needs some updating. read more

Never sign up for Australian Tan unless you want to get harassing text messages for the rest of your life. I wanted to tan before my wedding and the people and services were fine but the mail in cancellation policy is a pain and what's worse is even after canceling they continue to send harassing text messages about restarting my service every month or so. I have sent the requested STOP to every one of them but they continue to come. I sent an email to customer service to no avail. They seem completely unable unsubscribe me from future marketing messages. There are plenty of tanning options out there and would never go back to this company with their super aggressive marketing that never ends, it's just not worth it. read more
