New Students, Joined 6 months ago. Found the right place for my family. I've trained different martial art styles since my teens, wanted a school for myself and 3 daughters. I closely observed the quality of this school before joining, could not be happier with my choice. The instructors are ALL excellent, humble, and provide close one on one attention, especially early on for beginners to learn basics properly and safely. We have found this school to be impeccably professional, courteous and respectful to us and our family and friends (who have visited to watch classes, watch during testing, sash ceremony, and movie nights). I'm impressed by the genuine desire to teach this ancient art, keeping it true to tradition, and share appreciation for the Lohan style of Shaolin. As a parent, I'm very careful of who I allow my children too spend time and associate with. I only want good role models in their lives. I honestly say that from day one, EVERYONE at the school have made us feel welcome, comfortable, challenged to learn and grow. My utmost respect and high praise for the owner, Shi Gung Gregg Zilb, his wife Rachel, instructors, other students and their families, whom we have gotten to know well. I've been a student here since may 2012. This isn't a typical MMA gym or a place to get a black belt and stop training. This is a school for real martial arts, real useful training. Strength of mind, strength of body, precise techniques. As an assistant instructor for the children's class (Shihing- meaning big brother) I can assure anyone with concerns for their children that the kids class is run with extreme care. We teach the children and adults self confidence and discipline. We even make sure their report cards are up to snuff. The martial arts I learn and instruct have become a part of me, there's a real family environment here at Shaolin. As far as the Tai Chi training goes, the Kung fu and Tai chi we learn is fully traditional, techniques dating back 1500 years to the original Shaolin temple. Both my husband and I have been training here for about 9 months. We were looking for a family oriented place where we could both train together. Personally, I have terrible balance and coordination but all of my instructors are helping me to become stronger and overcome these obstacles. All of the instructors are very patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. The Shi Gung is always around, if he's not teaching class he's still there assisting the other instructors and sharing his vast knowledge and passion for kung fu. I observe the end of the children's class that occurs before the adult beginners class (which I am in). I see how patient the instructors also are with the children and how they are all learning to become disciplined, structured and respectful individuals. My husband and I do not have children yet, but when we do we will certainly bring them to Authentic Shaolin Kung Fu to train. I love this place and can't recommend it enough! read more

I was looking for a school that could teach me real fighting tactics, not just flashy forms and fake self-defense. I've tried a few different schools and styles' including Kempo Tae kwon do, Krav Maga and MMA style fighting but was never satisfied with the results. The techniques I learned were just not realistic for someone my size. After about a year of a friend encouraging me to try Authentic Shaolin Kung Fu, I gave in. I've been with the school for just under a year now and couldn't be happier. The school upholds the tradition values of this ancient Chinese art with a twist of modern application. The training is no joke but the support you get from your fellow training brothers and sisters get you through your toughest battles both physically and spiritually. Below, it was mentioned as the Ivy League of Kung Fu schools! Haha I cannot afford an Ivy League school and I certainly can't afford martial arts schools that want several hundred dollars to advance. It is a considerably low price considering what you are learning and it stays at that price. They also have a two month one price sale going on right now. You get out what you put in here. The curriculum is rigorous and you must be willing to work hard! The teachers who are excellent and knowledgable, and the students who have trained longer teach you in a hardcore fashion because you know they really want you to learn as much as possible. Could not have asked for a better school. The instructors are amazing and so talented and knowledgable. This really is AUTHENTIC shaolin kung fu. I have never trained in martial arts before and I am so grateful that I found this school. I absolutely love this school, it has everything! This school has traditional kung fu classes, real, effective self defense, enlightening Tai Chi classes, a crossfit/boot camp class which you've never done anything like before, fun and exciting children's classes AND an awesome demo team. All of this is possible because Shih-gung Gregg and all the other instructors have such passion for what they do and you just don't get that at any old martial arts school. This Long Island based Shaolin Kung Fu studio is one of my favorite places to be. The classes are amazing and full of culture. This school is very family oriented and children classes are well rounded. The discipline is great and adult classes are give the most realistic of martial arts as well as self defense. tai chi is great for all. My whole family recently signed up for classes here. We felt so welcomed by the staff and students as well. The instructors are fabulous! My husband and two children take Kung Fu and I have been enjoying Tai Chi. There are a number of families who train together. Best place to train traditional martial arts on Long Island. Great atmosphere and teachers, and lots of intense and hardcore Shaolin Kung Fu training. I've been going there for a few years now and have no plans of stopping. Anyone that is serious in trying out a traditional martial art should definitely stop by and check this place out. read more

This school is the best! All of our training is authentic old school training sometimes rough but our instructors are the best around and will keep you pushing forward in a freindly way.
