I read about Authority Auto in a forum and saw a lot of 5 star reviews, so I figured I would give them a try. I actually called on Thanksgiving Day figuring I would leave a message and they would call back on Black Friday, but Oren took the call and explained the program and I agreed to sign up. The next day Nathan was assigned to my deal and took a deposit over the phone. I explained the car my Wife was looking for (2017 Chevy Volt LT base model) and that I needed to do the deal by the end of the year to qualify for the $7500.00 Federal tax credit. I told him we just wanted a base model in White, or Silver. My wife wanted to test drive one and look at a few so we started on the far side of the Phoenix valley from where we live (Apache Junction) and stopped at 6 different dealerships. The first Dealer gave her a test drive and wanted to give a quote on her immaculate 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid with 158,000 miles and was only offered $1000.00 which she took as an insult. We left and stopped at the other dealers "Just Looking". None of the dealers had base models, or very good choices on interior & exterior colors and options until we got to the last one which was closest to home...LOL. They only had a couple, but the one that was actually in the showroom checked all the boxes for my wife even though it was a color she had not known about (Satin Steel Metallic), it also had upgraded leather interior (comfort pkg) and a driver confidence pkg that had desirable safety features that she decided would be OK. We told the car Salesman that my "Business Manager" would be in touch shortly. I called Nathan and told him I wanted him to deal on this particular car before someone else did. I also let him know that we are Costco members and hoped they could deal down from that programs offering and get us the $700.00 Costco gift card to boot. I also agreed to pay extra for them get us a better deal on our trade in car which Authority Auto treats as a separate deal. Nathan & Oren worked late and called us at home that night with a deal that we were really happy with especially on the trade. We agreed to the terms and went to the dealership in the morning, signed the paperwork, said no to all the other stuff they wanted us to buy and left with a new car and NO STRESS! Throughout this process you could say we were fairly wishy washy about what we wanted, but Nathan & Oren simply rolled with the punches and were always pleasant to deal with. We probably made the process a little easier for them by going out and actually stumbling onto the car we wanted, but I am sure they were doing their research and would have presented it to us in short order. I used to enjoy the process of finding and negotiating for a car, but as I have aged it has become an ordeal that I do not look forward to. Bunch of muppets that don't know how to read emails. If you don't know ANYTHING about getting a good price on a vehicle then this service MIGHT be for you. If you want to try a better way: for a new vehicle, visit the website 5-10 dealerships in a large radius, sign up to get their 'sale price' or whatever promotion they are having, and use that lowest price to see if anyone else can beat it. This is what I did and when one of the illiterate workers at Authority Auto tried to 'beat' the deal he actually got a 'deal' that was MORE than what I had found (my bottom-line number versus his NOT bottom-line number; he never bothered to read ANY of my emails of what deal I found). The dealership was so puzzled when I went in there why I would now want to pay MORE. Then the POS had the audacity to say I owed him money for him getting me a MORE EXPENSIVE vehicle. I've used a broker before and had a reasonable experience, but I wanted to try working with someone who was aligned with my own interests and not getting kickbacks from the dealers. After reading a very positive review in the New York Times, and reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, I decided to give Authority Auto a try. Of course, I had to pick a new hybrid vehicle that is in high demand and short supply so Authority Auto's work was cut out for them. I also wanted a color that was not as prevalent as the typical white, silver, grey or black. After doing my own online research, I knew I needed help and Chris K came to the rescue! He was able to locate the exact vehicle I wanted but because of the factors mentioned previously, the dealer was not willing to go below MSRP; he didn't have to. I told Chris I was not happy with paying MSRP but if he could get the dealer to knock off $1,000 I would consider purchasing. The dealer sold the car Chris had negotiated but then a couple weeks later came back with another identical car and offered it to Chris at the discount I requested! Sold! After reviewing and agreeing to the spec sheet, Chris arranged to have the car delivered directly to my home all prepped and clean! I only had to sign the necessary paperwork and provide a cashiers check for payment. I never had to step into the dealership (which is a great benefit in the age of COVID)! The only glitch happened upon delivery when I discovered the VIN was not the same as the vehicle I had agreed to but it was identical and matched my requirements in all respects. Chris has a wealth of experience working in the auto industry previously and knew all the angles and tactics. I felt extremely comfortable relying on his expertise throughout the search, negotiation and purchase. I'm pretty sure the only way I would have gotten a better deal is to wait another couple of years for demand to go down and supply to go up.
