After having read about Oren in the New York Times and other reputable car trade and consumer advocate publications (i.e, Edmunds), I called Oren to check him out. I had never used a car broker and considered myself a fairly savvy negotiator. After speaking to a few brokers and probing their business models (i.e, taking their fees from the dealer), I selected Oren for his independence and thoughtful presentation. Needless to say, he exceeded expectations and I will never go through the car buying process without Oren by my side.Not only did he secure me an incredible deal, but he's a high quality guy with integrity and honesty. He's was my -- and only my -- advocate through the entire process and it made a world of difference. He set up all the test drives so I didn't need to deal with haggling car salesman and he oversaw the entire purchase process. When I reflect on my experience with Authority Auto, I am reminded of the story that my father told about the ad that read: "Send me a dollar and I will tell you how I make money". People who responded received the following response: "Thank you for your dollar. This is how I make money". Certainly the ad was not false or misleading, but, with equal certainty, it allowed the reader to draw inferences that did not match up with the performance. In the same way, I found that Authority Auto overpromised and underdelivered. I contacted Authority Auto based upon the glowing review that appeared on Edmunds.com. I was assured that they customarily save 3-4K off MSRP. The reality was vastly different. Although I was promised a prompt response, I had to contact them repeatedly -- and threaten to cancel the contract -- in order to get any activity. I then received a copy of a window sticker from Dealer A, with information about the invoice cost, but no price. After further delays, I was told that a dealer 5 hours away (there are at least 8-10 dealers within 75 miles of my house) had a car, but it was "sold" before anything happened. Then another dealer two hours away had two models. After another day (this is now three weeks from the date that I made the deposit), I was told that no dealer would offer a price lower than Dealer A, who quoted 300 off MSRP and would not budge. In response, I sent documentation that, when I test drove the car, Dealer A quoted a price 1000 below MSRP. I never heard from Authority Auto again. In the meantime, on my own, I received quotes of 800, 1500, and 1900 off MSRP (2, one of which was from Dealer A), I canceled the contract and disputed the charge to my credit card. Which is fortunate, for if Authority Auto had secured the quotes I received, I would be out even more money. The only favorable thing I can say about the experience is that Authority Auto was at least honest enough not to object when I disputed the charge to my credit card. read more

Their website "promises" they are prompt in their responses to inquiries. They did not deliver on this promise. I filled out an online questionnaire to let them know I was looking for a car and would like to speak to someone about their service. An automated response let me know someone would be in touch within one business day. The next day I called and left a message, again requesting to speak to someone about their services. I still have not received an email or phone call back . If this is any indication of the length of time it takes to get a reply during the car buying process, I would definitely pass on this service. read more

I highly recommend this company. So many times single women (me included) feel as though we are taken advantage of when having our car repaired especially when you know so little about the actual functions of the engine. I was unsure what was causing my car to sputter and act like it was going to stall out but they guys and gals not only did a thorough inspection, they kept me informed. They told me there were several codes but then told me what were the most important repairs. They never made it seem as though if I didn't repair something that it would be inadequate. They informed me of the item(s) that were necessary and which ones would be able to wait. I felt completely confident in their ability to get me up and running so I could start my new job. They were honest with their billing and it actually ended up costing less than what they originally quoted me (almost unheard of these days)! During the pandemic they had all the necessary safety precautions in place. They picked up and dropped off my car for me at my home and when I got into drive it I could actually smell the disinfectant. Brian (who I spoke to most frequently) and everyone I had contact with were friendly, listened to my concerns and did everything they could to ease my anxiety about having my car repaired along with being quick with the repairs to accommodate my circumstances. I have always thought of myself as a pretty savvy car shopper in the past and actually like the negotiation process, but this summer I had a very complex car situation that I realized I need professional help with. I was moving across the country and needed help getting out of two over mileage leases in New Jersey and starting two new ones in California. Authority auto came recommended from a friend who had previously had a good experience with them. He told me that not only did they get him a better deal than he had negotiated for himself, but the car was delivered directly to his doorstep. Time for me was critical and I needed a capable team to execute a four car swap. From the beginning, Oren's team expressed that they had dealt with situations like this in the past and were confident that they could get me what I wanted. I worked mainly with Kim, the general manager, and he was great at communicating with me about everything during the process. In fact, I learned a lot from him about the nuances of car shopping and selling. They really helped me get out of a tough situation with my over mileage leases. I was 15K miles over on each car and knew I could not avoid an over mileage fee. I was really worried that I would have to take a huge hit of thousands of dollars. Most dealers that say you don't have to pay it during a trade in are lying because they just roll that cost into your new car's financing. We went through a lot of options before finding the right buyer to take the cars off my hands and minimized my cost . In the end we kept the damage to only $800 combined. This was to me victory considering the situation I was facing. Getting my new cars was a great experience. After I told them my options preferences, they found multiple cars and I was able to choose the right ones for my family. They negotiated the hell out of the prices. I couldn't believe how low my down payments and my monthly payments were, especially because I wanted two very in demand models. They were able to get a great deal despite the dealer seemingly having the leverage in this situation. That process took a week and Kim was updating me as I was driving my family and two dogs across the country in a rental van. They made sure my cars were delivered to my new home as soon as I arrived and I never had to waist time setting foot in a dealership. The dealership representative drove the car to my house, gave me an introduction to the car, did a test drive, and helped program my phone in to the car. I almost feel like this review is just redundant... But I am jumping on the Authority bandwagon!!! I HAVE NEVER bought a new car...I am always that guy that is waiting for a freind to sell me theirs, or lead me to a good deal on a used car (got a great one I must say from a friend...but I digress). When it came time to buy a new one I was over whelmed and so put it off and put it off. I called and spoke with Oren, think I had my first quote that night and it beat every quote i had gotten! A couple days later I get a call from him offering me a deal on a car that wasn't even on my list (because I would NEVER have thought I could afford it!!!). Long story short my seach for a little Ford or Hyundai ended with me in a LEXUS!!! FOR A LOT less then either of the other two..Delivered to me... I never even met the dealer (who by the way when we did talk so I could give him the money down was also the nicest guy and raved about Authority). The whole experience was mind numbingly easy and Oren was a blast to chat with. I have already given his name and number to two relatives looking for card, and if I didn't have to be at work tomorrow I would be on a corner spinning one of those signs pointing to his office! We decided to try Authority Auto and see if it would make purchasing a new Escape easier and save money. After a 2 week wait while they worked on it, I was presented an offer over the phone. Before the call, I went on line with a car dealer I have recently bought another car from for their "no nonsense" pricing they advertise on all their vehicle. Authority auto's price was about $400 cheaper than the dealer but with the payments for their service ($900) it would have been $500 more. When I explained this, they offered to negotiate off a formal offer for 1/2 the difference and apply the pre-payment of $200. I went ahead and negotiated a $400 lower price on my own using the other dealers advertised offer. Was disappointed that I was able to essentially beat Authority Auto's best deal by going on line for 5 minutes. I enlisted Authority Auto to assist me in the purchase of a new truck because I dislike everything about the auto buying process. Although most will seek an auto buying concierge for the primary purpose of obtaining the best price, I also wanted a service that would handle every aspect of the transaction. Dana conducted a thorough search of the inventory close to my home, and presented me with several alternatives. She assisted me in selecting the options that were most important to me, and guided me to the dealership that could deliver the vehicle that came closest to my specifications. Best of all, I did not have a single conversation with the dealership until the vehicle was delivered right to my driveway. The truck I wanted is in very high demand, and dealers were not inclined to offer much off the list price. When the sales rep came to my home to deliver the truck, I commented that perhaps I could have received the same price without the assistance of Authority Auto. He assured me that Dana negotiated extremely aggressively, and that he doubted very seriously if I could have done as well. I worked with Kim at Authority Auto, and I could not have been more satisfied with the results. On my first call, I talked with him about leasing vs. buying, and he laid out all the info and it was clear, in my case, that leasing was the best option since for my work I need a late model car and would likely be keeping it only 3-4 years. I got back to him a few weeks later with the car I wanted, and he researched it. He got back to me with the deal, and I asked him if I could change cars, he said absolutely, not a problem. I thought maybe I would have to pay an extra fee after the work he had done getting the first deal, but he was very gracious about it and assured me it was all part of the service. Later the same day he had a deal for the 2nd car which was, as he put it, very near bottom of the market. So I could choose between great deals on 2 cars. The next day I had my car. When I signed the papers, the finance person asked me if I wanted a pre-paid maintenance plan (Kim warned me they would likely try to add something on), I called Kim and he advised me against it and explained the logic. All in real time. Saved me some money there too. Kim also suggested, explained, and arranged a lease excess wear and tear policy through his company so I didn't have to deal with the dealer or mess with the lease he had negotiated. The best part of this is that he knows what extras, like this wear and tear policy, to buy, and what extras are really a waste - knowing that, I think, is gold, because I can act with confidence while I decline all the stuff the dealer is trying to talk me into when I am signing papers. My car was delivered at 7:30 p.m. to my home, and the paper signing took literally about 4 minutes. A seriously amazing car-buying experience. Nothing sucks the joy right out of new car buying than the hours and hours dealing with car salesman and, worse in my opinion, the finance office folks. Dana Middleton was wonderful to work with. I narrowed my choice to two cars and a long list of absolutely necessary features. I figured I'd make a decision which car when I saw the terms offered. I assumed she would come back with a car that had only 80% of my list, and I'd have to press her to keep working the deal or I'd settle for less since I hate this kind of thing and tend to cave just to end the annoyance. Dana came back with a very good and tempting deal on one car but an absolutely amazing deal on the other car. She had dutifully checked that ALL of my must-have features were on it, the exact color combo I wanted even though I would have settled for 2nd choice, delivered 10 days earlier than I absolutely needed it but just mentioned "tonight would be perfect," and a payment fully $120 month less than I expected to pay! Dana truly showed that she wasn't just trying to get me into any car quickly and collect Authority's fee. She truly wanted me not only to have the car I would settle for, but also a car I am thrilled with. I want to share my experience with Authority Auto. Just to let everyone know, I received no incentives or discounts at all to write this review. This is my honest opinion. This past month was quite busy for me. I'm currently in the process of moving from Louisiana to Michigan, starting a new job, and bought a new home. My lease on my BMW ended and I did some research about how to get a good deal on a car and that is where I came across authority auto. I called them up and they assigned me a broker, Richard. Initially, I did think the cost of their service was too high but I was too busy in Louisiana finishing up residency in medicine to deal with a dealership in Michigan. I'm glad I did sign up with them. Richard and I initially spoke for about an hour going over all the details of the car I wanted (Jeep Unlimited Wrangler). We went together on Jeep.com and customized the car I wanted. I also told him the date I would like to have my car delivered since I wasn't currently in Michigan. Richard took it from there. I did not have to speak to a salesperson at any dealership until the day I picked up the car. But before we get to the day of delivery, I want to say Richard did such an amazing job finding the exact car I was looking for (color, options, upgrades were the exact find). We fortunately did not have to order the car but he found it at a dealership ~100 miles away from where I was going to be. He was able to do a dealer to dealer trade. He was also able to negotiate a price that was a several thousand dollars below the MSRP (I don't think I would have been able to do that). He was also able to find a bank that financed it at a great rate as well. He kept me in the loop for every single part of the process. Expect to get phone calls, text messages, and emails from Authority Auto. They want to keep you in the loop every step of the away. It may be annoying but they are truly looking out for your best interest. On the day of delivery, my car was ready to be picked up! We went for a quick test drive, and went over all the features of the car. When it came down to signing the paperwork, there was not one bit of negotiation or extra feature that the dealership was haggling over. Everything was taken care of prior to me entering the dealership. Richard gave me the breakdown of my car (total cost, my monthly cost, etc) and it all matched up at the dealership. There was no surprises or anything. I signed the papers and I was on my way. I absolutely love my car and everything about it. There is no way I would have been able to get this car without ordering it from the dealership and I would not have been able to get this price. I think Richard did such a fantastic job and I know that I will be using them again for any future car purchases. Although I only worked with Richard, I'm sure any person from Authority Auto would do their damnest to get you the best deal. If anyone has any questions about their service. This was the greatest, simplest, most carefree auto buying experience my wife and I have ever had! Mind you, we had just purchased a 2014 Honda CRV EX-L with AWD and Navigation in May. We thought we got a good deal, but learned differently. You see, three weeks ago my wife's 2006 Honda CRV was broadsided when a driver ran a stop sign just one block from our home. Thankfully, our Honda deployed all it's airbags and protected my wife so that she escaped with minor injuries. The same could not be said for our car which was total loss. We decided to get a car identical to our purchase in May, but in a different color. I learned that there were only three on the entire west coast. My God! Even if you are not in the market to buy a car I suggest you get a car so you can experience Authority Auto!! They are that good!!! From the very first conversation to organizing the amazing delivery to my place of work, and walking me through post-delivery services like Lease end coverage and protection - Kim (and Ashley) has been thorough, professional, and have achieved what you yourself cannot unless you have been a car salesman in your past. I have been buying cars since 1995 (mostly BMWs, some Japanese) and typically I spend hours doing research online, calling dealers, and finally 4-5 hours negotiating with the dealer when I take delivery - and I am pretty sure I left money on the table on every deal I did. NO MORE!!! I am buying all my cars through Authority Auto ONLY from now on. Do this: Go online and find out the best deal you can on your dream car and then note down the numbers - then give AA a call and see what difference that makes.
